Kansas City Wide Open
30 Years of Memories
In the spring of 1983, Ted Smethers the newly conceived PDGA Pro Tour Coordinator, was appointed to organize the first multi-regional tournament schedule for the sport of disc golf- dubbed the Pro Tour. So in the middle of the night founding KCFDC member Ace Mason got a call asking if we would be interested in hosting a large event.
We decided that our tournament would be a fling what you bring event. And it would be open to anyone who loved the game. Hence the name: the Kansas City Wide Open.
