William Yates was designed as a Juniors Green Level course. Yates is the perfect 18 hole course to take beginners because holes range from 100 to 220 feet. Do not be fooled and think it is a total walk in the park. This is a great putter/mid range course for better players trying to squeeze in a quick round. Yates offers good elevation changes on numerous holes. There’s a good mix of wooded and open holes. The course offers tee shots to the left, right and straight. You also have shots uphill(9), downhill(9), a couple nice turnovers, some cool creek shots, a couple mandos, and a dog leg. There are additional tee pads on 13 holes. The longer tees give more challenge to more experienced players. The type of tee pad varies from AB3/Dust gravel boxed in by railroad ties, others are flypads, and a few are spray painted on sidewalks. There is an informational sign by hole one with a map(showing all tees) and under most baskets there is a paving stone pointing to the next tee. All tee pads are marked by a wooden pot and most have a wooden tee sign. This course was funded by a $5,000 grant from Sprint Nextel named, “Combating Obesity with a Disc Golf Course and Program”. Many groups donated goods and services including: Hunt Martin Marietta Materials, KC Southern Railroad, Home Depot, Guier Fence, and the Cashen family.Course closed during school hours and after dusk. No alcohol is allowed on premises and responsible behavior is expected. Several houses back up to course and neighbors will report inappropriate behavior to the authorities.
