If people who are intending to play, would register, we could better able to come up with a definitive schedule. There are currently  60 or so people signed up. If this number does not get much above 80. We'll have a single pool.

Admittedly, this is unlikely. So, projecting 150 to 160 players, we have two pools.

But let's be optimistic, and assume we'll reach at least 180 players. So, here's a TENTATIVE* schedule:

Pool A: all pro divisions (currently 15 in the pool)
Rd 1: Water Works
Rd 2: Rosedale
Rd 3: Swope
Rd 4: Swope

Pool B: all advanced divisions (currently 23 in the pool)
Rd 1: Swope
Rd 2: Water Works
Rd 3: Rosedale
Rd 4: Rosedale

Pool C: all intermediate, rec, and junior divisions (currently 24 in the pool)
Rd 1: Rosedale
Rd 2: Swope
Rd 3: Water Works
Rd 4: Water Works

More later on actual times.

Party will be at Rosedale Saturday.

Stay tuned for more announcements.

*This is a tentative plan. Depending on how many people register in which divisions, these pools might be altered.

Thanks Timko!

I'm also wondering what added cash might be looking like.  Typical B-tier or above that?

Although a B-Tier, we're hoping to provide A-Tier amenities, which means $1500 added to the pro purse.

Towards that end, we have custom stamped Champion Katanas, Champion Gators, Glow Champion Destroyers, Glow Champion Whippet-Xs, and Glow Champion Gazelles for sale at DGW for only $20. For $10 more, you'll be listed in the program as a tournament sponsor.

Also, have some tournament stamped  XG (extra grippy) Bosses, Champion Teebird Plus, Star Ontario Rocs, Star Roc Plus, and DX San Marino and Ontario Rocs for sale with the proceeds directed to the Wide Open.

For those with jobs and perhaps some funding, tee signs sponsorship is only $100. Get your employer aboard as a tee sign sponsor for $200 and get your entry fee paid.

Thanks Rick.  I'll be signing up shortly.  And probably buying some Glow Destroyers.

There are only 25 signed up for the Peoria tournament the same weekend.  And it is an A tier.  I think the KCwide may beat them out!  At least we are currently :)

Can't believe we're not playing Cliff....

As I understand it, Rick "The Eternal Optimist" Rothstein had concerns about the playability of some of the wooded holes if it were to rain that weekend. ;D

He has reason to worry.  We had some problems at Worlds with Cliff in the rain on that first day. Now they eventually worked themselves out, basically because we received excellent the rest of the week. I like Cliff also, but people still come to KC to play the 3 biggies, Swope, Rosey, and WW.

I know rosie is old and traditional, but if CD where played more, I would think people would really enjoy it more so than rosedale.  I can't really think ppl come just for those 3,  swope and WW I understand, but rosie, really?

Cliff Drive is awesome and I love it, but i am ecstatic Rosie is being used for KCWO. Cliff has been used for a ton of events the last 2 years.  I don't know why people dog on Rosie-it is a sweet course and when extended has some awesome and challenging holes.  Me living 3 minutes away has nothing to do with my opinion on this i swear ;D  Regardless, every year different courses are used and it is always changing, so I see no point in ever complaining about the courses used for a particular tourney, because they will all be in play at some point or another. Did I mention i can walk to Rosie?

Have other courses been used in the Wide Open?

Courses that have been used in previous Wide Opens (that I remember):

Shawnee Mission Park (home to the 1st Wide Open)
Swope
Rosedale
Water Works
Prairie Center
Cliff Drive
Blue Valley
Wyco

Courses in the area that haven't:

English Landing
Old Pike
Young Park
Legacy Park
Pleasant Hill
Thornfield
Ted's Dread
