Nice article Dick.  Good job.  I saw it on facebook first, and then I couldn't find it again.

Congratulations to the East Side for finally getting that monkey off their backs. They fought hard enough to barely win by 2 points...

For a full recap of the weekend, check out this small unbiased report I wrote for the event:

The 2017 Kansas City Team Challenge is under way. The first round of this match play event started out at Lakeside Hills in Olathe, KS. This highly anticipated event lived up to the hype. Both teams, Kansas (west) and Missouri (east), came out and put it all on the line in this round 1 battle.

On paper, the East Side looked unstoppable. The West Side, missing some key players from previous years, looked somewhat like a wounded duck. But with key match-ups and solid play of the West Side, they took a classic round 1 lead by taking 5.5 points, leaving the East Side with the remaining 3.5 points.

East Side looks to bounce back in round 2 when the Kansas team travels to Legacy Park in Lee's Summit, MO for Alternate Shot Dubs. There are 9 points up for grabs
The Final round of Singles match play will stay at Legacy is worth 18 points. One of these impressive teams, made up of some the best players in KC, will walk away with their names engraved on the KC Team Challenge Traveling Trophy.

Thank you to everyone who qualified and showed up for the event. This is quickly becoming one of the most coveted events to play in every year.
To those who didn't get in this year, but want to see some of the action, you are more than welcome to come out to Legacy tomorrow to watch all the action. The morning round will roll off of Hole #1 approximately @ 10 am. And don't forget to check the calendar next year for your chance to play in one of the qualifiers.

Round 1 Results:
West Side - 5.5 Points
East Side - 3.5 Points

Just wondering why no men Am's were considered; Int, Adv, Adv Master, Grand and Senior, for example, 1 each per division.

Or was this previously discussed in a past thread?

There are NO divisions on the E vs. W.  It is based solely on the play of the events to qualify regardless of division.  Based on scores.  Anyone that has an interest and scores well at a qualifying event can play.  There USED to be an age component (READ not a DIVISION) but based on the scoring model it only made sense to throw that out and allow people in based on scoring only.
