Title: GBO - NT calendar issues
Post by: robm on November 05, 2012, 04:37:32 PM
If you were aware of the scheduling issues, then this may interest you.
If you weren't aware, I guess it doesn't matter.

Due to circumstances beyond the control of the disc golf world, there has been a change to the 2013 National Tour Schedule.  The "Steady" Ed Memorial Masters Cup in Santa Cruz, CA will now be held on April 26-28, two weeks later than originally planned.  The Hall of Fame Classic at the IDGC in Appling, GA that was to be held on that weekend will now be pushed back a week to March (edit: May) 3-5.  The revised schedule is shown below.

This just in......the Wide Open date has not changed.  I repeat, it has NOT changed.

Still looking for logo help and more volunteers will be needed!

Does this mean it isn't up against the GBO now? That would be joyous news!

Are they even having the GBO? I know the turnout for the Wide Open dipped the year we also had Worlds.. Plus I dont see the GBO on the Majors list..

it's never been an NT/Major, only an A-tier (that was last year as it's first).  Those dates go after the Major's schedule, so they start shipping them to the PDGA now until the end of the year ideally.

The GBO will still happen, its one of the few times people will be able to play the country club courses prior to Worlds

Nice plug!

Ram'N'Salmon is looking to be March 16th...according to Scott at DD and me!

Clarrification, there was a concern about the GBO being the same week as a NT event in California.  With new PDGA rules, an A-tier event cannot be schedule the same weekend as an NT.

It is no longer a concern.

This was just information for those that were following it.

Speaking with DD Emporia, I think 2013 GBO is going to absolute killer.  Don't want to step on any more toes than I have with the issue, so I'm going to stop at that.

Hmmm, does anyone else see a non-PDGA tour on the horizon?

no

You should.  This is the silliest thing ever since the inception of no-alcohol by the PDGA or the National Tour over the Super Tour events (which is still on the agreements, yet I don't think that they exist....) .  Really C-Tiers can't have alcohol where it's permitted......No smoking at Major's (Tell that to Jay Cutler during an interview) yet rampant inefficiencies in so many other areas that this is the issues that they decide need adjusting.

Southern Nationals has grown in popularity for a reason folks.

If a non-PDGA tour starts around this area.....the Ram'N'Salmon would most likely be on board.

PDGA sucks and the only reason I play those events is to hang with the people I don't get to see in the KC area....bring on the Gilmore's of golf....those people make this sport fun!

Keep the rules that pertain to golf not the golfer and lower fees!

Rock your socks and birds will flock!  8)

See, I like the PDGA for the competition and the rules. That's fun to me. When I travel to a place I like knowing that a certain standard is upheld b/c the tourney is a PDGA event..

To each his/her own!

Those same rules and competition are fine, except for the personal conduct rules.  I wear a colored shirt to work every single day....I don't want to have to "dress up" to golf....it's just silly.  Also, I don't want to get drunk...like Jack...cough, cough, but I do enjoy a beer or 2 during that second round of play to calm my putt.

You should see all the chattered about back to back majors on facebook....pretty interesting....and I imagine the next 2-3 years of the PDGA will be also.

You know I've tried many of times and failed sir.....some day....some day.....

As far as a local tour...heck yes!!  I've always liked what the KDGA has done, but traveling all over KS is the issue...now travel all over KC....I do on a weekly basis!

Greg, we follow all the rules in the PDGA hand book in Southern Nationals tournaments.  We just don't charge the same exorbitant entry fees or memberships.

Slant:  Did you say you wear a colored shirt to work everyday or did you mean collared?  Or maybe you meant collard as in collard green?

**I wear a colored shirt to work every single day...**

I'm confused......

I got it right....I prefer white shirts.....it shows the mustard and cheeto stains much better than a colored one...

....next up....cut off daisy dukes with pockets hanging out, tall tube socks and crocs!

White IS a color.  Just sayin'.   :P   Glad you wear a colored shirt to work.  Better than transparent one.  :o
