2015 Kansas City Flying Disc Club Championships - November 7-8, 2015

This event is FREE for all current KCFDC members. If you are not current, you can always sign up at either DDKC, DGW, or the day of the event. Please bring Cash or Check (made out to "KCFDC"). Also having the current form printed off and filled out helps.

Are you the best Disc Golfer in Kansas City? This event will somewhat answer that question. All you have to do is be a member and bring your game. Due to how last year seemed to run so smoothly, we will try again to do what we did with the separate pools. The only way to successfully pull this off is to play a course with 2 courses. Well, since Rosedale is the only true 2 course park in the KC area, we have decided to take Swope Park and convert it into 2 courses using the land reserved for Swope Gold and also some safari holes.

Then on Sunday we will play at WYCO and Shawnee Mission. This is where it gets tricky. You will need to check here, kcfdc.org, or Facebook to find out where you will need to go to play in the morning. Then we will switch courses in the afternoon. If you are unsure or miss all of our attempts to communicate with you, please get to WYCO early in the morning so you can find out where you are supposed to be. You will have enough time to get to SMP if you are there. I'm staggering the starts just for that purpose. I will do my best to make sure you know.

Remember folks, you DO NOT need to play every round. You can come out for 1 round, 2 rounds, 3 rounds or all 4. But if you intend to only play 1 or 2 rounds here an there, please let me or whoever is running your course know. It will make everything go so much easier.

Schedule:

Check in for Saturday will be 8:00-9 AM. If you are playing an afternoon round only, please be at the course early to get checked in.  Check in for Sunday will be NO LATER than 15 mins before tee time. I will try to post afternoon start times here and on the KCFDC Facebook page.

Saturday 11-7:
Round 1 - Swope Park - 9:30 am
Round 2 - Swope Park - TBA

Sunday 11/8:
Round 3 - A-POOL Shawnee Mission Park @ 9:30 AM
Round 3 - B-POOL Wyandotte County Park @ 9:00 AM
Round 4 - A-POOL Wyandotte County Park @ TBD
Round 4 - B-POOL Shawnee Mission Park @ TBD

We will also be taking payment for your 2016 Bag Tag. You must PREPAY for the bag tag to be included in the initial distribution of tags. Winning the event will NOT get you an exemption. You must pay to play. They will be distributed at the KCFDC Elections.

Just watched a video on rollers. Wyco is a great place to throw only rollers. When I'm ready, there will be clinics. When you're ready, I'll let you know about the clinics.

Of course it is, it's a great place to throw anything. You know why, because it's the greatest course on earth.

Is there anyway you could have a putting and roller clinic on the same day. I know that's a lot.

Sad to say, second year in a row I won't be able to play. Boo. Matt will have to throw for both of us.

^^^ what he said  >:(

Next time you wanna pick the 4 courses 2 in MO and 2 in KS, you run it ok?  SMP isn't a bad little track at all...they do more work than most to keep it pretty out there, so why dis on a relatively good course the has probably more traffic in it than all other parks combined?  You may be needling a new person that loves to play because they saw it there....

You mean, Dick would "let" someone else run it???

Oh Jack. We can't all be happy all the time can we? What's a Club Championships thread without a little b%tching about the courses. In all seriousness though, I probably dislike SMP more than Cliff Drive. Also, Dick has a Hotmail address. Wtf? I've been sending him strongly-worded emails for the last month and I'd bet his inbox is full, or Hotmail just sucks. Possibly both.

I feel sorry for Dick that one of his 10 yearly rounds of disc golf will have to be at SMP..

Dang, I'm still waiting to hear Jack's reply. I hope since he's taking so long that it will be a long answer. ;D

The perceptions about SMP are something I fight over and over.  Sure, the park rangers kind of suck, so you have to be super discreet about drinking beer and letting a dog off a leash.  On the other hand, no one dumps trash or screws with the course.   And, the course itself can be quite fun.  I will say it depends on the layout.  I admit 12 through 16 are a little tedious up and down the hill.  That said, if Dick is willing, a couple of those holes can be eliminated and some temporary  additions put in to take their place.

I would suggest

1.  Long (technical, LHBH favored)
2.  Short (easy RHBH)
3.  Short (technical, doesn't favor either)
3A.  Temp pad up hill to island (risk/reward)
4.  Long (technical, LHBH favored)
5.  Short island (technical, no favorite)
6.  Long (RHBH favored)
7.  Middle (technical, LHBH slight favored)
7A.  Temp pad by shelter to pond island (technical, LHBH favored, difficult, risk/reward)
8.  Short easy, neither favored
9.  Short, easy neither favored
10.  Middle (technical, LHBH favored)
11.  Long (long, neither favored)
12.  SKIP
13.  SKIP
14.  Long (technical, RHBH favored)
15.  Short (easy, neither favored)
16.  Long (technical, slight RHBH favored)
17.  Middle (LHBH favored)
18.  Long (RHBH favored)

Mix of easy and more challenging holes.  Fairly balanced RHBH and LHBH.  Eliminates 2 kind of redundant holes.  Adds two challenging and fun holes.  Yes we would need 2 temp baskets but that should be easy enough.  I know it's a walk from the pond island to 8, but it isn't really that bad.

Anyway my 2 cents.  And I will move the baskets to this configuration just because I can sometime this week.  Whatever Dick decides, I will move them into his position then.
