KCFDC...the app?
« on: December 22, 2014, 01:22:48 PM »
An Android/Apple app seems like a logical next step for the KCFDC webpage.

Anyone out there with the knowledge to convert this wonderful website into a user-friendly app?

Just a thought....The Violator

I dont see the value, when people create an app which can be served by a web site it just seems redundant.

Our new site, which is going to be rolled out for 2015 is 100% responsive and will work very well on any mobile device. An app would be, as mike said, redundant.

I am not saying redo the website in app form, that would be redundant.

I am saying take the website and grow it into an app with additional features...find people to play with, generate potential ad-revenue, tie-in to PDGA events, etc.

Something to grow the KCFDC beyond what a traditional website can do.

The other drawback to a native mobile app would be developer support..
Apps require a specific skill set which is not something the volunteer tech team would likely have, so we'd pay a contractor to create and update..

Not that it's out of the question, but it needs to make sense..
Out of curiosity, what features would you want and need outside of the responsive web site?
