It's sad but also an opportunity.  I'm presumming Rick wants to retire like most of us want to some day.  I truly hope Rick gets many offers and ultimately a fair price.

Best of luck

I would totally jump on this opportunity, but am a a little ($399,987) short of the asking price.  ;D

Where are we getting this price of 400k USD? Does it include the Ice Bowl® Brand too?

It's sad, but true. It has been discussed, it has been announced, just very quietly. Rick has done a lot for our community and will likely continue to do so, but he needs to enjoy his life. I truly hope someone purchases and maintains the store locally. DD is great, but I love Disc Golf World's back room. I think most of us do. I hope some rich disc golfer is able to purchase and run successfully. This place sis a landmark, we all know. I hope to discuss Rick's contributions more fully in the next KCFDC newsletter due out on June 15, 2015.

Of course, offering a business for sale doesn't necessarily mean that the business will sell. And if it were to sell, it would only happen after negotiations between buyer and seller. What I'm saying is that I'm not sure what is going to happen if no buyer is found. I originally was thinking liquidation, but recently re-structuring the biz has some appeal. Stay tuned.

I thought about this a year or two ago about how great it would be to buy DGW someday.

Eventually, in my life I hope to have the money and business acumen to successfully run a disc golf business but it is not this day.

Rick, any chance you can wait 4-5 years to sell? JK, business is business and I understand, but I would hate to think of Kansas City without Disc Golf World.

I truly hope someone (or a group of people) buy this business and keep it running.
