Title: Lets take A moment of silence
Post by: Ken Franks on June 05, 2012, 09:14:21 AM
Joe Hesting's long time best friend, McCoy, has gone to play with the doggies, plastic bottles and friZZbee's in the sky. For those that was lucky enough to know him, was to love him, even if he didn't know who you were, he had some doggie breath kisses for you....

He might have loved going to play golf more than any of us...

 RIP White McCoy!!!

McCoy was one of the best dogs I've ever met and I'm glad that I got to hang out with him as much as I did.  He will be missed by many disc golfers and friends alike.

My condolences Joe.   :'(

RIP buddy.

RIP McCoy. This news made me quite sad. He was always a pleasure to see on the course. Always friendly and quick to let you give him a greeting of a few pets on the head. I'm glad I got to greet him one last time Sunday.

I had to put my 16 year old dog Rusty down last Sept. and know much a loss McCoy is to you Joe.
I ended up going to Lawrence Humane Society and adopted Marky after a couple months. I helped him have a loving home and he helped me through my loss.

It's with a heavy heart that i let the few who knew him well, the some who knew of him, and the many who just took time out of their rounds to give him a little love or a little nudge off the damn tee pad, I had to let my little buddy and constant disc golf side kick cooter go on sunday.

Tough little sucker had been hiding a nasty tumor in his belly for who knows how long, and sometime after a great day at the ice bowl on saturday his body just couldn't fight it anymore and i couldn't let him suffer for my sake. Was worried sunday when he wasn't ready to go back out for more, but just thought he was worn out from another fun day doing what he loved the most. Tears me up to type this up, but just wanted to say thanks.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to say hey to him and give him a rub, took the time to give him a snack, or just took the time to be patient with him while he inevietably got in your way at some point. He was out there as much for me as i was out there for him, so i'm gonna miss him.

Thanks again,
Miss you Cooter, RIP buddy.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your buddie. Our dogs mean so much to us and are a man's best friend... "If there are no dogs in heaven I want to go where they go"

Sorry Lee. Dogs are our friends that we can always count on.

I like to think we will get to see our dogs that have passed again someday. They'll be there to greet us when we leave this plane and go to the next.  :)

One of my favorite Twighlight Zone episodes tells the story of this old hunter man and his dog. In fact, I think it was the best Twighlight Zone episode of all. The episode is entitled "The Hunt", and I think anybody that owns, has owned, or is thinking bout owning a dog will appreciate it. Lee,   So sorry to hear about Cooter.  He was a great dog and I know he meant a lot to you.  You and Cooter were nearly inseparable and I know how much you valued taking Cooter to disc    In a way, he was the Scooby to your Shaggy.  It's a tough loss.  Hang in there, Lee.

I remember asking you about Cooter on Sunday.  I wish he could have made it out one more time.  He had the best life and a great owner.  Always remember the many good times you two had.

I am sorry you had to lose him.  I know how hard that is.  Every time a best friend passes, I feel the pain all over again.  :'(

But I like to think Coot and McCoy are pissing on every tree, on any course they want to roam.  They will make their way back to hole 1, when we join them again. ;)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I needed them this week.

I just wasn't ready but i guess, i probably never really would have been.

I closed up at first but the more i talked and listened about my little bud, the better i felt.

Good group around these parts, feel pretty lucky to be here. Good golf, good golfers, good people.

Thanks again.

Oh mannnnnnn ..... damnit.  :(

That really sucks, Lee.  This news really really hurts :(

I love Cooter and I'm going to miss him very much.  Damnit.  Damnit, damnit, damnit.

I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss.

Pets are simply members of the family.  Irreplacable.  I had a cat for 23 years, had to put him down a number of years ago.  I still "trip" over him on the stair he used to sleep on.  I still "feel" him wrapped my head while I sleep at night.  I still occasionally hear him say "water" which he clearly did when his bowl was empty.  You never get completely over the loss of a great friend whose only purpose in life was blind love and devotion.  I'm sorry Joe, your golf game may never quite "feel" the same, but you'll have great memories of your very best friend the rest of your life, if that is any consolation....
