Joe put one off the top of the basket on hole 10...only to kick OB. He saved the circle three of course. Shot of the night!

I'm still trying to figure out what the extra $1 on the entry fee was for. Felt like regular old Cliff Drive league to me, complete with my typical sh1tty back 9 performance. Can we opt out of the PDGA part of it next time? I'd much rather put that dollar toward a truck taco on the way home.

Typical Wolverine Whine. It's very high pitched. Almost sounds like a swarm of flies around a fresh pile of doody at cliff drive.

UNfortunately opting out of the pDGA fee isn's allowed.  1/2 goes to Cliff Drive of that $1 and the other half is towards the PDGA.  I believe though that this would be your first rated round there Mr. Keizer......

1006 seems a bit low for 50s at Cliff. Was it set easier than it has been?

Either way, great shooting Joe and Jose!

So yeah after typing it up it was in a pretty short set up.  I forgot that I moved it so we could get done in plenty of daylight even with starting at 6.  We did.  I think that we were done

For those that weren't there during the actual planting of the pins, "original" means nothing.  Me takes a stab though:
1 - long right?
3 - long?
6 - middle of the fairway (neither long right or tucked long left)?

1. near the used condom
2. near the old tv
3. next to the body.

talk is cheap......

KCMO shcool district lost accrediation on January 1, 2012
% of State's population living below poverty level: MO is 11.8%,  KS is 10.5%
CNBC report on State by Sate Quality of Life 2011: MO is #16, KS is #11

The list can go on and on.... the east did win last year, and I won't be surprised if they do again this year, but that's more a product of the format than the overall skill level of the golfers. I think both sides have some pretty decent players. Of course the majority of higher rated players in the metro do reside on the west side, at least based on current PDGA information....

Arturro                  1008                              Jake Bowen            990
Tank                      1000                              CD                          986
Shanan Carson     987                                Mike Murphy           975
Joe Hesting           984                                Fred Smith              968
Loomis                  978                                Mike Thomas           966
Heberto Villareal   977                                Jose Ossa               964
Cooper Arnold      975                                 Jamie Barry            946
Brian Guthrie        970

I know there are many really good players that don't show up in PDGA stats, but the odds makers would have to favor the West side based on these facts.  :P This is all in good fun, don't take it personal.  ;D

#1-Long right is correct.....
#3-There is only one placement, up along the bluff
#6-There are 2 placements, left and right along the tunnel, it is in the right along the tunnel

As for the other items.....Well sometimes you have to go through trash to find beauty.  We can't all just pander to the land of the elitist.  Someone had to make a place to play for the working class.  How many good stories have started with did you see that in Olaythu?  Guess what I saw in PC?

Point being, it takes a special place to build quality, and being on one of the oldest parks in the city gives us some rights that you don't have down there in JoCo land, where you use the "trash" a former golf course to create a disc golf course....yeah that's creative....next you will be trying to hold your West Side Team event on a Missouri course or something.....(sorry to drag you in on the rest of your side's comments Tracy, I know it wasn't you.....but yep, i Had to go there....)

No for the rest of you that realize that there is one team with a winning record on this here battle....you may realize that only the EAST SIDE, can claim, and always claim that we are the original champs......

It hurts, I know it does, but your fancy malls and such over there in Totoville should be able to find remedies for the injuries....for your games....hmmmmmm...not so much, but for your injuries, yeah they sell Prep H, go an getya sum!

Stats huh....boy, I bet we can manipulate stats all over the place just like the politicians do.....and the company's that are working in R&D to get their product approved.....

BTW, if we use PDGA stats we would have lost last year, so keep on with that head in the sand....

First of all - this is a disc golf forum and discussion should be about disc golf.  Let's leave the school districts, college hoops, and average income out of it...just sayin'.

I think we should introduce some other items into this East/West challenge.  Maybe...a distance competition perhaps?  I'm sure you'll find another W in the East Side column there...

Let me beat you to the punch before you introduce a putting challenge.  Yes, that'll put a W in the West Side column I'm sure.  However, correct my 2nd grade math, but I believe that still leaves the score at 2-1 in favor of the East Side.   :P

It is a shame that one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in the metro has been reduced to a place for law breakers to dump their trash, and occasionally their murder victims' lifeless bodies. It is always depressing to go to a place with such potential and see it abused like that, fo sure. We can all go out on an upcoming workday and pick up some trash though.  8)

Jordan is correct. There is no need to continually post documentation that proves Kansas is the superior place to live, when everyone already knows that.  ;D

As for a distance and putting. I'd say the East would win both. But, where is the #1 tag currently?  :P

I think I'm willing to take the East side up on that distance challenge. Or a putting challenge. Heck, we might as well add these to the overall team competition. I've seen the best the east can do in these categories and I must confess - not impressed at all. What do you say, East side, you game for some skills competitions? Are you ready to put your individual talents to the test? I'm sure there is a way to tie them in to this somehow.

I think you missed a few that do show up in the stats.   Jordan and I are both at 972 and Matt Perry just won GBO in Advanced and after the last two tournaments his rating is going to go up to at least 960 if not higher.  Be careful with statistics, you can make them say whatever you want especially when you pick and choose. There are several other very highly rated players on both sides of the state line (GI Dave, Lee Killian, Adam C etc.).  My opinion is that there is highly talented players on both side and that is too close to call.  I think we all want to know the same thing, right.  There's only one way to solve that.... "Thigh Curl Contest"

Sorry, but other than Fred and occasionally CD and Jack, the numbers for the East side seem based on local tournament numbers. In other words, you all ain't been tested outside of your comfort zones. GI Dave has played where? Lee? I notice Hinck played Branson recently, but where else have any of the East players tested their game? I know there is talent on the East side, but the numbers might be a tad biased in their favor. The East side numbers are suspect in comparison to those of the West side crew who have built resumes on courses outside of their stomping grounds. It's easy to shoot a good round on a course you have played a hundred times. So... still don't see the numbers speaking well for the East side as of yet. Perhaps this is another addition to the challenge - playing a course no one knows. Perhaps a temp course?

So, don't let the numbers fool you. Don't let yourself fall victim to Dan Beto Syndrome. He earned a 990 rating (or something like that) playing the same two of four tournaments every year, and got it in his head he was a super pro. Then he took his act on the road and got spanked down hard by reality.

So numbers mean nothing.

And don't fool yourself Hinck. You're good, but you ain't never out thrown me.

This is a disc golf forum, but also a PUBLIC one...so you shall not hinder my topics of discussion....that being said.....

An unattached, after event, skills challenge party sounds good to me.

Let's toss in mini golf, TRC (throw run catch), freestyle, double disc court, guts and 4 or 5 holes of speed golf. Then we're putting together a good ol' Discathalon!  Can we find a beer sponsor?

Just 4 or 5 holes?  Come on, a typical round is only around 2.25 -2.5 miles....

It's easy to shoot a good round on a course you have played a hundred times.

It's also easy to get stomped by the EASTSIDERS on courses we've all played a million times. So what? :D

That's true. It wasn't a good showing by the West siders last year. I think all the intangibles just didn't work out for us but I doubt that will be the case this year.

I believe the drives must be accurate as well....in ball golf isn't the landing area only like 100' wide?

Pure distance doesn't matter about accuracy, so to speak. All it does is have to land in a designated "Arena"

Accuracy is a different animal. Usually not thrown at 100% but thrown as more of a golf shot. The farthest thrown minus distance from line is crowned winner. I remember seeing Henry Childress throw accuracy at the Vibram in like 2007, threw something like 520 and landed 1 foot from the line. Won by like 90+ feet... most accuracy winners are somewhere around 400 feet

I think we all want to know the same thing, right.  There's only one way to solve that.... "Thigh Curl Contest"

The Office - Turf War (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ioLou2srlE#ws)

No comments to the Office clip?  I thought it was hilarious.  I was trying to find out who was Dwight and who was Gabe.

Wait till the south siders take on the north siders

Would I be considered a Very NORTHERN SOUTHSIDER then?

This brings up the debate.

North/South line=Mo River?
East/West=Clearly Stateline currently, but if we move to 4 teams, would it be I-35?

This inner city bickering is boring. Why don't we do something more fun, like get together as a team and take on St Louis?

ARGGGGHHHHHHH.......Teams, cities, states.....Geesh......
I sent the following information to over 8 "movers and shakers" for an area/regional type of deal, and got little to no response

Billy and I were talking about a team tournament, and I think that the idea has its merits.  I know that you have already started with this format for this year, but here is some ideas that Sprague and I were talking about last Christmas in Des Moines.

Food for thought.   Obviously we don't have the 24 hole format, though I bet we could alter the course on the Campus to fit 6 holes, not sure about Bob's land, but may be able to make something work.

The following locations seem logical to me:

KCK

KCMO

Topeka/Lawrence

KS Other

MO Other

Des Moines

Quad Cities

Iowa City/Cedar Falls/Cedar Rapids

Omaha/Council Bluffs

East Iowa

West Iowa

Columbia

At 8/team, that is 96 which is a full course then some but should be able to work.  We may not have that many people or one may not opt in (Columbia, Topeka/Lawrence may take place of KS Other, etc...)

Here is what I sent to people about a local "club/course" type of event, again with little fan fare....

I really wanted to do that during the winter months though for the local scene......I thought that it might work.....

So with the lack of excitement about it, I decided to go a different route and do the PDGA league at Cliff Drive this year instead.

Tracy is repeating what he had told me, that i gave too many options.  I can see where he was coming from...

I understood it, but like I said, I sent to the folks got no response, and I know you don't believe me but I do have other pressing matters, so I won't be the spear head on this project.  I like the idea, would participate, but not organizing it at this point.

I got more responses from Coffman telling me to work with Narin than just about anyone else on that e-mail Palmer....It is all good.  Like I said, I thought that it would be good to try to have during the winter.  I understood where Tracy was coming from, but I wanted to give options....I guess it is like going to a restaurant with 7 pages and over 150 items.....too much to handle, I should have KISS'd it possibly, but then that wouldn't be very Jack like now would it?

Jack, I don't recall exactly what i said in response to your original email about the regional idea.  Seeing it again, though, I think we could start out small.  Like the KC vs St L. thing or  KC vs Iowa. Let it grow organically.  It was difficult enough to get just 32 local players together for our team event.

As far as your local team league.  I think you made it too complicated. And again trying to get every course involved from the beginning is probably too ambitious. Shoot for four - 4 man teams for the first league and grow from there. Keep it simple, raw score total wins the match up.

What's this all about.....?

Kind of like the Tavistock Cup.  Started out a few years back as just Lake Nona vs. Isleworth.  I think this year they had 7 clubs participate.  Though, I think it still only alternates between those two courses.
