Title: FRIDAY TRAVELING LEAGUE 3/15/13
Post by: spnachio on March 12, 2013, 11:04:13 AM
Its gonna be a 2fer today.  With 75 degree weather.  Gonna stay south this week and play 2 in the city of champions (Olathe).

Olathe Lake(Birdland, Lakeside Hills) 9am

Prairie Center(Tomland) 1pm

Bring you discs, tags, shorts, and leave the umbrella at home.

All in tags and we will figure skins or some sort of optional wager.

Still not sure exactly on ace fund($165?) but I did get the date right.

There are no age restrictions for the FTL(all are welcome).  I havent played lakeside yet, only seen it from car window and there was 8 inches of snow.

I wouldn't recommend lakeside for strollers....many hills and the fairways are still rough in many areas.  Once the mowers hit it 3-4 times this summer it should be in better shape....but it's still a long haul.

Nailer is in for the morning round.  Maybe a little after 9.  I have to bail after that though.  See you fellas then.

There is no actual buy in and it has been $.25 a hole skins althought they have played other games as well. Pretty much up to the group to decide pre-round.

If you can pad me a few strokes, I'd be up for a side bet. :P

I'm game for whatever.

Is it supergroup or smaller groups? I ask because I have a friend in town who needs to play a not super long round and I'm trying to see if this would work or not. Worst case we could just start on 10 or something separate to get a whole round in.

Coop - Harold usually breaks it up to smaller groups.

HB & Oz - I'll be there this week.

A foursome playing singles can expect around a 2 1/2 to 3 hour round.  8)

If ya all wanted to play $5 or $10 random dubs, I'd be happy to do the do using my GLOW dubs payout structure.

If you decide to do so, please let us know before 8am Friday so we can make other plans.

what are the directions to this course?

I used: 700 S Ward Cliff Dr for the Facebook page....not sure how GPS will handle it.

on Santa Fe go past PC about a mile to the Lake, course is on the SE shores.  There are 2 entries on the North East side of the lake, but the West entrance was shut off due to work in progress...so use the entry just past the Eagles lodge...I think it's called "S Golf Course Road" or something.

Or take i-35 south to "Old 56" to K-7 north to Dennis west to Ward Cliff and north.

Hope that helps.

@rob- wagering is always optional.  This week we will put the gamblers on cards together and the nons together.

@tom- thanks for the offer but we always do all-in tags which doesn't work with dubs

So dont be scared. The friday league is kind of newbie but we still man up and have watched our tags that started in the 50-70 range fall to the 150-200 range.  So all yall that have come and taken our $$ and good tags come on back and give us a rematch

However it pans out I have never had anything BUT a great time with the FTL.  I like the bag tag round and some .25 skins personally.  Ace fund is good too.  Although, I have heard there is not much chance of anyone getting an ace out there.  Of course it is optional which is what makes FTL the best.  See you shortly after 9am.

Suggestion, if the crowd is going to be so large should we consider meeting around the circle drive near hole 5?  I have heard parking near 1 is very limited for now.  Not trying to throw a wrench in anything so if nobody digs it just tell me to get lost or delete this post.

Hole 5 actually has less parking, P&R added a large gravel shoulder near hole 1, so it's better now.

If Teddy Crocker is coming, I may work all night to get ahead and make it.

ok, so my other interest is home brewing, right?

tonight at my monthly homebrew meeting I was talking about golfing 2 rounds tomorrow, and a fellow homebrewer was very intersted in coming.  So....I'm bringing a newbie with me tomorrow.  He owns a couple of discs, but can't remember where they were stored it has been so long since he's played.  So be kind.

Ozo and HB - probably want to put him on a card with me and some other 'like skilled' players.  We'll see how it goes for the PM round.  His name is Galen.

Woot! Woot! maybe I don't qualify as a bird (yet), but thanks Birds for working soooo hard. Now I gotta get my sh*& together for tomorrow.

Several cards, split up (hopefully) close to skill levels.

High 60's!

Meet at one for your card and Ace Fund (optional). there should parking (you might have to walk a bit).

9am! LAKESIDE SHORES .  . . (1pm Prairie Center!)

Look for another two or three from the Northland for the early round at Birdland! Ted, Jamie Danger, and hopefully Amando.
