Title: The 'Official' ACE Thread!
Post by: Loomis on March 25, 2012, 07:29:42 PM
Ekolk - The king of understable plastic - Launched a full-on pearly champion beast at hole 8 at swope and came up nothing but net! Four witnesses saw it, two thousand others just "heard it."

Nice ace, my friend.

No aces to report, but hey can we got some LOVE for D. Loomis? He also shot a 1001 rated 54 today in Bowling Green. I think this guy has shown us he is done with AMs. Nice shooting Loomis!  Can we get some local love?
Title: Re: ACE!!!!
Post by: ekolk on April 01, 2012, 08:35:27 PM
I guess there could be be a Bowling Green thread, but here it is. Loomis takes fourth in AM1. There were four flights in the pool. Minna takes second. Nice showing for this local pair. Whoot! Whoot!

Back to the thread, Pete Cashen aced 18 Down Under yesterday. There was another Ace on the same hole. Anyone know who it was? Or is it already in another thread?

Post by: ian on April 02, 2012, 11:05:13 AM
I don't remember his name, but he took my $5 and my signature.  :D

CD hit chains right after the ace so there went another dollar. Not to mention I saw Peter's friend ace Hole 6 the day before. I paid out $11 in two days. Never witnessed an ace before this weekend either. Good shooting guys!

witnessed an ace at smp last night by sam webbers.    only the second i've ever seen.  brilliant shot on hole 1 at shawnee mission.  a star teebird that seemed at first it would hyzer in the woods but it held its line, dipped right under the tree branches by the bridge and slammed into the chains.

I just watched some guy nail #11 at Legacy last night.  I was on my second shot on #10 when I heard chains.  I'm not sure what to call that dance he was doing, but it was a pretty sweet shot.

Someone did, Jordan!

I hit my 20th ace tonight during Legacy league.  It was on hole 12 with a Champion Eagle.  Flew straight in with a slight hyzer.  Slim called it in the air.  I knew it was likely to go in but didn't call it for fear of a jynx.  Boom shakalaka.

Aced #10 Down Under at Rosedale today with my Champion Valkyrie 167G, playing with Josh K. and Neil P. I sailed it low down the middle and a tailwind goosed it into the chains hard. Can it ever feel better than your first?
Title: Re: The 'Official' ACE Thread!
Post by: Jake B on June 10, 2012, 08:42:36 PM
Nice Richard! It only feels better than the first if it's for money!

On that note... Kevin Corbett decided the ace pool $1 wasn't worth it today at PHill league and proceeded to ACE #18 with a Roc that he later left on the road after throwing OB on hole 6. He never got it back. Oh well, we did all sign it. So if you see anyone with a Glow Roc with 3 signatures on the top, I'm sure Kevin would love to have it back, so punch the thief in the eye and take his Roc back!
BTW, nice ace Kevin!

Congrats to the "Swade Swede" - Matt Eklund!

He hit #6 at Old Pike last night at doubles league - solid!

I think he said he was throwing a Champion Momba. With the league ace fund and various five dollar bills coming his way he had a $200+ payday with that ace.

And I got to watch it all the way....   8)   Nice little flip then flattened out and headed right for it with a slight hyzer turn right into the sweet spot and sat down like he just made a putt.

Wow I get to post another ace! Arturo hit 18 short at WW last night with a Star Destroyer. It was a beautiful shot, and we stood there in disbelief that he  got that super tight hyzer line to work. Once it had missed the first tree on the right, we all knew it had a chance.  Nice one Arturo!

If your name is Eric, go throw that hole. It has a thing for guys named E at the moment.

8/27/2013 @ Swope League, Jared Finley hit an Ace on hole #2 with a full weight Destroyer.  It was witnessed by me (Van) and TJ Ring...as well as others who were playing league.  He did not pay into the Ace Fund, so he did not win the pot, but was given $5.00 by one player on his card.

dan Quinn hole 2 @ PC during wandering Wednesday pdga league

It is interesting to note that he did call his shot.  Let us relive the legendary moment - needing an ace on the last hole to pass Steve and claim  the always valued last cash spot on the Wandering League - Quinnie steps to pad and similar to Babe Ruth - points to the basket and says, "Count it.  I am throwing an ace."  Grabbing his trusty 178 g  Rhyno - he rips it in the chains.

Somewhere in heaven, Jack Buck exclaims,"I don't believe what I just saw!"  http://www.hark.com/clips/bglrsvypyl-kirk-gibsons-1988-world-series-home-run-call-by-jack-buck (http://www.hark.com/clips/bglrsvypyl-kirk-gibsons-1988-world-series-home-run-call-by-jack-buck)

When his wife found out that he called his own shot, she shrugs her shoulders and says, "Don't you say you are going to throw an ace on every throw?"

Dan Quinn failed to put money into the ace fund and thus does not collect the pot.  The story goes that he was late and only had a $20 and he did want to make the coordinator break it. Being late and making them break a $20 - he did not want to be "that guy."

"My chances of Acing will increase if I do not pay."  This is the first time that Mr. Quinn failed to pay for the Ace fund.

Sooooo....all holes are reachable except hole one.   ;D

I went through the pics on dgcourse review to refresh my memory. There are a few in the woods that could be hit. I remember I did get three birdies in a row. (5,6,7 or 6,7,8) Those are probably the most probable. There are several that have looong narrow fairways with low cielings and/or hard doglegs that make aces improbable. There are few that could possibly be hit if you throw 400+ with great accuracy and a lot of luck.

2 - 450 - long straight fairway with low cieling
3 - 325, long straight fairway with low cieling and dog leg at end
4 - 475 - basket tucked in gap in woods on right (possible for a long lefty or a 475 anny/flick?)
5 - possible - 235 - similar to down under
6 - 250 possible - down under
7 - possible - down under
8 - most probably - most open and short (surprised someone has not hit this one)
9 - possible? 330 straight and narrow with low cieling
10 possible? 285 with dogleg right
11 492 - out of woods over 40' deep and 200' wide drainage ditch up over dike and into a clump of trees (this is the whole other than one that I remember most distinctly - I did not like this hole, maybe because I didn't play it well)
12 342 - with hard dogleg right - into the woods
13 265 - heavily wooded with lots of small trees - possible with lots of luck
14 - 420 in heavy woods
15 - 323 - behind gaurdian trees
16- 315 - long narrow low cieling with gaurdian trees
17 - 405 with a hard dogleg right at about 250-275 (or through/over? trees)
18 - 357 possible for loong arms if you hit the small gap in the tree line

So I guess there are several possibilities - but to say all but one - no way.
But after review - it is surprising that the ace fund there is sooo big.

(have you played it?)

Aced Hole 7 at the Thomas Park Open in 2012 with a magnet.  Hole 6 was aced by Jared Kinsel about a minute later, taking half my money >:(

I'd say there are really only 6 holes that are ace-able.  (3,6,7,9,13,15)  All the other holes, it would be the shot of a lifetime, with a lot of luck involved.

It was a joke.  He would drive here for the City of Fountains knowing he would play Blue Valley and Cliff, but stop at Birdland, and then go play Waterworks before he left town.  He is freaking crazy!

Thomas Park in Salina has a Sunday league with an ace pool around 2200 bucks

Looking back through Salina's forum, I found the reason why their Ace Pot is so high.  They only pay $300/ace.  They do not give 1/2 the pot.

There has been 2 aces hit this year, and the starting ace fund was around $2350.  It looks like the ace fund will stay in the $2000's for a long time, and maybe make it to $3000.  But $300 is all you will get.

There is a C-tier at Thomas Park next Saturday the 15th ran by Maceman.  Always a fun tourney.  2 rounds of 18 on a tough course.  4-5 down on the day usually wins open.

For the second week in a row that we finished the PDGA Meandering Monday round (one week in between didn't post due to weather) we had an Ace.

James Thompson first ace ever! Hole 5 BV Short Course, 172 feet.

$252 current Ace Fund with this week's entries.

$126 available, $20 for 2016 club dues -> $106 to James Thompson, or $0.616 per foot.

(Checked the math, Scott Reek's ace two weeks ago was $0.784 a foot.).

Neil Porras hit #10 at USM last night to collect some ace fund league money. Not sure the current balance now but it's still well over $100. #10 is a shorty with water behind it. Don't want to sound like I'm complaining or anything but I feel like I warmed up the basket for him, having solidly hit the pin just before him. 12"-18" higher and I'd have collected too. Dang it.....  Nice shot Neil!!

Just curious if there have been any aces at Heritage.  I saw one on hole #11 Jan 2nd 2016.  Any others reported yet?

There have been 10+ at heritage already. Most of them coming from the league there.

I don't know of a regular league there yet.
Cooper Arnold hit hole 4 at FTL.

I didn't get an ace pot, so I have no money to give back in the form of beers. Sorry. =\

I had my first ace on August 29th, hole 5 at the little Lenexa 9-hole course, Sar-ko-par Trails with a 167 DX Roc. Today, just over two months from then, I had my second ace, hole 11 from the short pad at Swope Park during Divas League, with a 155 Air Saint.

It's time for a Kujo C-C-C-Combo breaker!  ;D

Ace #2 for me, earlier today on hole #3 at MWSU in St. Joe, with an Innova Champion Spider. It's a 219' shot along a hillside that slopes from left to right, and finishes hard right under a very low canopy, and is protected by a jerk branch. Witnessed by Kim G.

Ace #5 for me last night at USM league. Hit #10 with a Moon Glow Claymore. About 180' downhill through the trees with a pond directly behind it. Had I missed I'd likely have been all wet....

The ace fund is now down to $126.
