General Banter / Squids?
« on: February 25, 2014, 09:56:03 AM »

I know there are some opinions on this out there. It has come up before. But in a situation where many, many discs are left in a pond due to an inability to go in and get it immediately and entering the pond being illegal to begin with why should "squids" get away with taking discs lost in this way? Especially if there is a plan in place to periodically clean out the pond legally with the intention of lawfully returning the lost discs. Involving the law, right or wrong? Discuss....

Clover Dell Park - Sedalia / Workday this Saturday the 16th
« on: November 13, 2013, 09:48:07 AM »
There will be a workday at Clover Dell this Saturday morning, November 16th, at 9am. The goal is to remove as many of the marked cedar trees on the front nine as possible. We have a group of Boy Scouts and some parents confirmed to be helping and we may be getting some help from the Lions Club as well. All disc golfers that want to help work on the course are encouraged to come out with at least some good gloves for hauling trees but we can also use chainsaws and trucks/trailers to haul the trees off after they are cut. There are other projects that are needed to be done so if we have enough people see me and I can set you up with a task on the back nine.

We're planning to work until about noon or 1pm so if you plan to attend the club meeting you have plenty of time to help out, throw a round and still make it back to KC by 6pm.

Found and Lost / Lost Valk at the LDO - Cliff Drive
« on: August 17, 2013, 09:47:21 PM »
Lost my beloved fly-dyed SE Valkyrie on #11 at Cliff Drive during the LDO today. Came out early and too high and the wind got under it and carried it left and likely into the reservoir but maybe into the fence and thus the thick greenery growing thereon. Looked inside and out and didn't find it at the time.

It has the 2002 Worlds Biggest stamp on it and it should have my initials and PDGA# on it - KM - #12037 and a bunch of signatures from an ace back in 2010. Its safe return would be much obliged and greeted with some type of appropriate reward.

Full disclosure - This in no way detracted from the outstanding time I had with the great crowd and tunes and fun times at the LDO!!   8)

The KCFDC is partnering with Jerusalem Farm to provide a fun disc golf tournament at their community outreach event Community Harvest in the Park. This will be a fun event with food, games, music and disc golf.

USM / USM Disc Golf 2013
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:04:35 PM »
The first Tuesday round of the season took place last night. It was a pretty close game between Tony and Kevin for most of the round until the last few holes when the wheels came off for me with an ugly OB and a couple of bogies while Tony got the birdies. Adam and Rick kept it close the entire round until the winner between them was decided on the last hole.

Tony Todd - 53
Kevin Montgomery - 58
Rick Rose - 67 (3 Birdies on the night though)
Adam Richter - 68

Next Tuesday 5:30. In May we move to a 6pm tee. Bring your bag tags and join us.

Clover Dell Park - Sedalia / Course is in great shape!
« on: March 17, 2013, 01:10:07 PM »
Gave the course at Clover Dell a full 19 hole checkup Friday then went back for another crack at the front nine. The pond on #10 is full up making it a much more difficult hole than we saw at the Bluebird in September. And the pond on #14 is almost out of its banks. Now is an excellent time to throw in Sedalia. No tall rough and everything's brush-hogged. There's a new maintenance guy out there that I think will do a better job of keeping it mowed but just in case, now is a great time to get it before it gets woolly.

Here's a couple of shots of the ponds from Friday.
