2013 Kansas City Flying Disc Club Championships - Nov. 9-10
We will once again be playing 4 rounds of Disc Golf at 4 beautiful locations. This year we are introducing the new Lakeside Hills course in Olathe and leaning on some old favorites as well. One thing you will notice different about this year is we are starting in mid November, which means our daylight will be greatly reduced. Sunset for Nov. 9-10 is set for around 5:10 pm. So we are going to be starting an hour earlier that years past. We will tee off at 9am so please be signed up by 8:30 am so we can get you on a card.
Schedule:
Check in for Saturday and Sunday morning will be 8:00-8:30 AM. If you are playing an afternoon round only, please be at the course early to get checked in. I will try to post afternoon start times here and on the KCFDC Facebook page.
Saturday 11-9:
Round 1 - Shawnee Mission Park - 9 AM Tee
Round 2 - Lakeside Hills - TBA
Sunday 11-10:
Round 3 - Cliff Drive - 9 AM Tee
Round 4 - Swope - TBA
We will also be taking payment for your 2014 Bag Tag. You must PREPAY for the bag tag to be included in the initial distribution of tags. Winning the event will NOT get you an exemption. You must pay to play. I will reveal next years tag at the event and they will be distributed at the KCFDC Elections the following weekend.
Details for the Club Champs and Bag Tags are listed in the flyer below.
If you have any further questions you may call me at DGW 816-471-3472. Or email me at dick@discgolfworld.com.

Randomly. Although, if there is someone you want to play with please let me know early and I will try to accomodate. After the 1st round you will play with people close in score. After Saturday you will be put into a flight with a group of people you are shooting closely with. Check out last years flights after Saturday to see how it gets broken down.

As a CC Prediction - I think the hot score at SMP tomorrow will be 48. I could see a 46 if there isn't much wind.
-
Any Day 1 results? Somebody's gotta be out there.
-
I dont think anyone was able to get below 50 @ SMP (No wind what so ever!)

Jake Bowen shot a 48 as I predicted.
EDIT: It was a little bit windy up top at Shawnee, but not too bad. Jake will be the first to tell you that he left a 46 (or better) out there.
-
what an awesome bunch of club members.... 6-7 players or more per card and the speed of play from everyone was very comfortable with second ghost cards and all... you all rock!! it was an awesomely fun day of disc golf

If you are planning on coming out tomorrow and you have not played a round yet you need to go to Cliff Drive in the Morning. If you are only playing the second round, you need to go to Swope in the afternoon. We are splitting into 2 pools. Please following the link below so you know what course you are on and also what time you tee off and also what hole you are on. All you have to do is click on the link. If that is too difficult for you, please show up at Cliff Drive as early as possible and you will be told where to go.
Cliff Drive is Teeing off at 9am
Swope is Teeing off at 9:30am
Please check in at your course!!!!!!!

Danny Troop and Nick Savidge texted me that they will not be playing Sunday at all.
-
Big thanks to Dick, Mike, and anyone else that helped make this weekend happen so smoothly. This might be my favorite event next to the DUI.
-
Thank You everyone for making this the Biggest, and by far most memorable, KCFDC Championships I have ever been apart of. Long story short... We broke some records today. Last year we had 117 play at least one round. This year? 144! Last year we had 76 players play all 4 rounds. This year? 87! Great job to everyone who made it out this weekend.
I typed a lot for the site so please go to the link below to get a summary of the weekend.
I feel like I'm forgetting something important... hmmm what could it be?
Oh Ya! Congratulations Jake Bowen on becoming the 2013 KCFDC Club Champion!

Bag Tag info will be available in the coming day(s). Good Night for now. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Great job Dick, Mike and all.
Few suggestions for next year?:
- Require pre-registration. Cut registraion on Thursday so Friday can be used to create pools. After Saturday's rounds, shuffle pools into flights.
Or - if you really want to have registration day with 2 Saturday rounds:
- Use Rosedale on Saturday. Split it into pools for Up and Down and switch. Then reshuffle for the two MO courses.
Or, day off registration, but have one extended Saturday round with more holes to accomodate more people, such as
- Use WyCo on Saturday with additional holes
- Play MO on Saturday, use Blue Valley, and play Baby Blue + regular 17 and 18 for 20 holes, or Baby Blue plus some of short Junior course for a possibility of 27 holes. Of course, just one round on Saturday, and then shuffle pools for 2 rounds on Sunday.
-
who is tom davis? 43 at swope?
-
Next year we could do it BEFORE daylight savings...
-
I reALLy like the 27 holes available at big blue valley + junior 9, makes for a definitive one round no hassle day of golf. no lunch break needed, no extra driving, and showcases some of the best that kc has to offer
-

It's quickly becoming a favorite. And that's saying a lot with the other championship caliber courses here in KC.
