USM / USM Ace Fund League - 2018
« on: June 28, 2018, 01:20:20 PM »
I'm avoiding FB for now and realized a lot of folks that don't use it might benefit from getting some info about what we are doing up at USM in Leavenworth on Tuesdays.

We have an ace fund league that tees at 6pm weekly on Tuesdays. The only cost is $1 to get in the ace fund. And you don't even have to pay that. But be warned, if you hit one and aren't in, no payday for you.

The fund currently stands at $291. Hit an ace take half the pot. For uneven splits the $1 stays in the pot.

Last week we had 15 out on a relatively nice evening.

I have 11 of the scores from last week (someone didn't share their card with me) and will list them here:

Andrew Marquardt - 49
G$ - 51
Bom Tutler - 53 (thanks for coming out guys. It was a fun round)
Dane - 55
Brodie - 59
Beckett - 60
KMont - 62
Peter Tady - 64
Andrew Johns - 65
Rylee - 71
Clint - 74
Tyler Forbes - ?
Bryan - ?
Aron Lough - ?

Next week I won't be there but Andrew and Pete are planning to mark an alternate layout for us to play for the next few weeks of long days. The course will play the opposite direction and include a few classic holes from days gone by. 6pm tee!!

I've yet to get a PM asking for my address. Maybe preserving history isn't as important as I thought it would be. If some unknown person comes to my sale and buys historically important things. Don't blame me you passed it up.

If I were going to be around on the 7th I'd be by for sure. I hope someone takes an interest in the DG gear you have. Sounds like a good opportunity to score.

Tracy, does that mean that if we play fast and quit jamming that you will start playing again.  ;D
No, my days of tourney disc golf are done.

Don't forget us up at USM. Tuesdays during DST we'll be having fun.

And why is "Grow the sport" the singular mindset these days? It benefits manufacturers and retailers but how does growing the sport benefit the player? I'm not saying it isn't a good thing. I'm sincerely asking why "Grow the sport" floats to the top in all disc golf conversations these days. KC has over 30 courses within an hour of down town. Most events that take place end up having to turn people away. How much more does the sport need to grow before the focus can be placed elsewhere. Like refine the sport, improve the courses... etc...

Add to this Riverview Park in Platte City. If you are up north that is a great little 9 hole course for beginners. Very short holes and compact area. Several fairly technical but short holes too.

I agree that mastering the midrange first is a good idea. Start with one or two discs until you are confident that you know what they do, a midrange and a putter. Then work the driver into your game. If you have joint issues then I would recommend that for at least your driver you go very light. Try light Blizzard or Starlite plastic from Innova or something similar from other manufacturers. The lighter weights will be easier on your joints and require less effort to get distance. Don't be afraid to go real light, in Blizzard plastic under 140 grams will float on water too. Something like a Starlite Valkyrie or Blizzard Katana take little effort to get good distance. But beware, throw them too hard and they flip easily.
