WYCO / Workday Saturday April 2nd
« on: April 01, 2005, 01:10:53 PM »
Now it's completely official. I have a burn permit from the City of Bonner Springs in hand and verbal permission from Wyandotte County Parks. We can burn from sun-up to sun-down for ten days if we want. Only a single pile but it can be 10'x10' by 8' high. Tomorrow should prove to be a very productive day at WyCo for clearing brush. Please bring your gloves and plan on helping to haul brush to the pile tomorrow. We will be burning pretty much in the middle of #17 fairway to the north of the current nastiness along the wood line there. The goal is to get all of the small stuff from that area burned as well as other brush and limbs from along the entire tree line, #4, #7, etc... Additional trucks to haul limbs from other locations will be handy. I have one truck but the more the merrier.

I hope to see you there. The club will be providing lunch and beverages for all workers. The work will start at 9:30am.

It's official. Weather permitting, we will be burning brush at WyCo this Saturday, 4/2/05. Bring your gloves and help us clear up the brush on #17 and elsewhere.

There will be a workday at WyCo this Saturday. Trimming of trees, cutting of some brush and brush removal as well as placing the new replacement basket for the #11 basket that was stolen. This will result in getting the practice basket back in place. We may get permission from the parks department to have a burn pile. If this is the case the workday could be very productive and we can begin to eliminate a great deal of the crap next to #17 fairway as well as other brush we could haul to the pile.

Swope / Swope League

Who's running Swope league this year....  ?  Maurice?

At risk of sounding too much like a bleeding-heart liberal, I don't think we should discriminate against animals of any kind based solely upon sexual orientation. Especially in a public park. Of course if an animal shows up with a disc fetish resulting in the said creature munching on discs in play then I say discriminate away and ban the fiend at will.

I guess I was talking about a Saturday league in general. Not necessarily a new players league. That's a different animal altogether.

Saturday April 9th. Non-sanctioned KCFDC/KDGA Oz Tour event. We'll be trying out the gold layout the KC Wide Open will be using for the Pros. It should be fun and interesting.

$30 for Pro divisions
$20 for Am Divisions

Minimum of three to open a division.

$2 for Non KDGA members and $2 for non-KCFDC members.

9:30am players meeting at Shelter J with tee off to follow.

This will be a FUN  8)   event. Picnic, party to follow. Either at Shelter J or at Ted's Dread. Ted's Dread will be hosting the Tin Man's Forest Oz Tour event on Sunday the 10th. Make it a weekend of golf in Western Wyandotte County in April!!     :D

There's a couple of guys that play WyCo league that dye discs. I don't know the process at all myself. In another month you can come on out on Friday night and ask them yourself...    :D

There's actually been talk of a Saturday league that will float between Cliff Drive and Blue Valley. More info on that will be forthcoming. For now there is Saturday league at Olathe at 11:00am and 12:30 at Rosedale Downunder. Once daylight savings time kicks in these two leagues will say goodbye until next winter and a new Saturday league may take their place.

Everyone is welcome at the new players league. Men, women and juniors.  There has also been a women's league on Thursday nights but I don't know the status of that this year yet.

WYCO / New pins
« on: March 06, 2005, 10:56:58 AM »
Thanks to Max Hilgers, Jake & Angela Carmack, Jeff Campbell and Christian Mann for coming out and getting a lot done at WyCo yesterday. We have two new pin placements one on #1 shorter and in the middle and one on the left on the hillside on #16 to keep the pin dry during wet spells. Max and Christian trimmed up #4 in the woods and started clearing the alcove on #7 for a new pin placement in the woods there.

I expect to have another work day prior to the Kan-U-WyCo, which is a KCFDC/KDGA event on April 9th. More info to be posted soon.
