Swope / Swope League

Who's running Swope league this year....  ?  Maurice?

Swope / Dogs with homosexual tendancies...

At risk of sounding too much like a bleeding-heart liberal, I don't think we should discriminate against animals of any kind based solely upon sexual orientation. Especially in a public park. Of course if an animal shows up with a disc fetish resulting in the said creature munching on discs in play then I say discriminate away and ban the fiend at will.

I guess I was talking about a Saturday league in general. Not necessarily a new players league. That's a different animal altogether.

Saturday April 9th. Non-sanctioned KCFDC/KDGA Oz Tour event. We'll be trying out the gold layout the KC Wide Open will be using for the Pros. It should be fun and interesting.

$30 for Pro divisions
$20 for Am Divisions

Minimum of three to open a division.

$2 for Non KDGA members and $2 for non-KCFDC members.

9:30am players meeting at Shelter J with tee off to follow.

This will be a FUN  8)   event. Picnic, party to follow. Either at Shelter J or at Ted's Dread. Ted's Dread will be hosting the Tin Man's Forest Oz Tour event on Sunday the 10th. Make it a weekend of golf in Western Wyandotte County in April!!     :D

Beginners / Dying Disc's

There's a couple of guys that play WyCo league that dye discs. I don't know the process at all myself. In another month you can come on out on Friday night and ask them yourself...    :D

There's actually been talk of a Saturday league that will float between Cliff Drive and Blue Valley. More info on that will be forthcoming. For now there is Saturday league at Olathe at 11:00am and 12:30 at Rosedale Downunder. Once daylight savings time kicks in these two leagues will say goodbye until next winter and a new Saturday league may take their place.

Everyone is welcome at the new players league. Men, women and juniors.  There has also been a women's league on Thursday nights but I don't know the status of that this year yet.

WYCO / New pins
« on: March 06, 2005, 10:56:58 AM »
Thanks to Max Hilgers, Jake & Angela Carmack, Jeff Campbell and Christian Mann for coming out and getting a lot done at WyCo yesterday. We have two new pin placements one on #1 shorter and in the middle and one on the left on the hillside on #16 to keep the pin dry during wet spells. Max and Christian trimmed up #4 in the woods and started clearing the alcove on #7 for a new pin placement in the woods there.

I expect to have another work day prior to the Kan-U-WyCo, which is a KCFDC/KDGA event on April 9th. More info to be posted soon.

Yes WyCo is pretty much wide open on most holes. There are a lot of trees that come into play on most holes but they are mature trees that are spaced out pretty well. It's also the longest course in town right now. It will be dwarfed by Blue Valley when it is completed though. Come on out tomorrow and have a look at it.

WYCO / Workday Saturday 3/5/05
« on: March 04, 2005, 09:16:10 AM »
I'm planning to be at WyCo tomorrow morning at around 9:30am to do some work on the course. I want to move two pin placements so tools to do that would be in order. I can bring buckets, concrete and a shovel but I don't have an auger or good post hole digger. If anyone has such a tool and can bring it please do. I also have some tree trimming to do. I have my chainsaw but I understand the club's pole saw is in need of repair. We'll just make do with what's available in this case. Some weed eating around the next tee markers and in trouble spots might help too. Several little things need to be done too. There's a couple of trash cans in the pond that need to be taken back to the tee pads that they belong at etc...

If you can make it please do. Thanks.

WYCO / Friday 2/4

Foursome for doubles on a rare beautiful Friday in February. Nate Marshall and Bryan Guthrie - 51 - Henry Po/Kevin Montgomery - 55. Ended up with a sixsome with friends of Henry showing up on hole 6 (young lady needs to compete). A great day off early from work.

Ted...  catch us up to date. Sorry for the downtime. I can't make it to league on Thursdays but your updates are like the Daily Show, comfort food for the disc golf glutton.
