moment of infamy

It wasn't a "moment of infamy" Rob.
It was more like "Eight minutes ..."
I know.  I was there.

You only got 8 minutes?  He took it easy on your division.
It actually didn't bother me simply because I didn't know any better at the time.  Now I just look back and laugh. I know people were in an uproar last year about it but I didn't get why.

I wasn't even there. First tournament I ever missed because I *enjoyed*[?] the players party too much the night before.  :-X. Won't make that mistake this year.

On Friday August 14th, we will be hosting a 1 Rounder in full MAC Layout at Rosedale park.  It is a flex start from 10-6.  You must be tee'd off by 6pm.  Pro's play for cash and Am's play for DDKC Cash.

300 Players and counting.  An event of this size needs as much help as we can get.  If you are available for any part of August 15/16th.  Please reach out to me and volunteer an hour or a day.  We need from you in order to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Since DD is a "For profit" business, and looks to make 10's of thousands of dollars on this event,  you think "hiring help", instead of relying in "Volunteering", would be a better route maybe?

Though not one to argue......let's look at the facts on this one.....
B-Tier (I am gonna average $45) 198*45=8910
A-Tier117*50=5850
Total in=$14,760
Players Packs (Conservatively based on wholesale not retail) of say $35/each=$11, 025
leaves us with a total possible income stream of $3735

Paying for the staff time, and the work etc.... of each I would say you have about 100-150 man hours, let's say we pay them a nominal wage of $15 (which is more than they pay)=$2250, leaving about $1500 profit to the business to run an event for 3 days.  Trying to pay a staff on top of the already paying information leaves no profit and hence no reason to run events if you pay a staff.

Until we can get loaded sponsorships from other manufacturers outside of the disc golf business we will continue to play for each others money in our sport.  Which I believe that you and I have had the conversation is absolutely silly and completely sucks.  But it is still where we are at a sport.

So with an event that is this big the notion that making a few dollars off each player is nominal for the chance to participate in what is now the second largest event in Kansas City for disc Golf, and only it's third year.  Growing beyond expectations this is something that others clearly want, and volunteers feed our sport.  Look at the worlds...takes a village, and Scott is asking for the Village to help.  I thank him for doing so.

Now back to your regularly scheduled reading...
