I have heard the WO will be a mix of both, any chance the layout will be same as the WO

Wide OPen is BIG BLUE, this isn't a Wide Open preparedness, but may be similar in locations on BIG BLUE, there isn't a mix of Big Blue and Little Blue, there is either one.  Wide Open will be BIG BLUE, as will the City Of Fountains, will be BIG BLUE.  We have enough daylight to make it happen for both.

The C.O.F. is now a Team Challenge Qualifier for the East Team.

Top 5 scores make the team, regardless of division as long as they are playing from the same tees as the Open division is.

no, it will not be.  The holes will not be ready until later this year.  Plus concrete pads, etc....Mighty MO this fall possibly, and probably (Hopefully) the LDO will have some of them in place.

All players are playing the courses, but I think that the determination will be based on players in pools as to if they become split or not (Sending folks to another course).

Jack commented on page 1 of this thread that it will be Big Blue.  I presume he has spoken with Scott and I would go with that unless you hear otherwise.

Blue Valley for the most part is on tournament position.  Remember we are playing Big Blue so we are only playing Blue Baskets (no Red Baskets)  I also believe all of the blue baskets have number plates

Everyone is meeting at Blue Valley and check in is between 7 and 7:45

Amateur Player packs can be picked up at DDKC from 10-6 on Friday.

What time is tee at BV on Saturday?  I see check-in from 7-7:45.

Also, there are two chains missing on the street side of 12's basket.  I know that Jack told Jose it probably won't be fixed between now and tourney time, but surely we have two sets of chains laying around somewhere that could be used.  Agree with Jose in that we have a couple of touring pros playing and would like our course to at least have the standard as far as baskets having a full set of chains...let me know how I can help and I'll install them if need be.

I was busting Jose's putts....I have a basket that was hit with a van that I use for the "missing chains" at cliff.  I will get them fixed beforehand.  I may try to do it tomorrow.  I will also be moving the "blue practice" basket to 18 and 18 where it will be so that we will be playing to "nickels" only for the event.

Will anyone be putting bags over the holes that have two pins?  I know there are several at Blue Valley and a few at Cliff as well.  I know you will be making the announcement very clearly before the tournament that we're playing long pins, but some people from out of town won't know any better.  I know that we had someone throw to 11 short on our card the other night at Cliff...
Title: Re: 2014 City of Fountains - PDGA B Tier- April 19th
Post by: jack on April 16, 2014, 12:10:44 PM
I believe in both instances it will be play to the baskets with #'s.  As is the case at both courses.  The "red" baskets at Blue Valley don't have any numbering on them, and at Cliff the same will be planned accordingly.  I imagine that we can "bag" the baskets though at least at Cliff for certain, At BV that may be a little more difficult.

Lowe's, Home Depot, Sutherlands...etc.  I had to go count out the links and go buy some chain along with 2 s-hooks to replace a row of inner chains one time here in PITT because the city never would do it.  If I was coming I would bring the extra chain I have in my garage but I'm not.   :'(

I feel like hole 1 is a par 5

Jose 3'd it last night for a recent reference and I've 3'd it a couple of times.  All depends on the wind I suppose.

I got $5 on neither one of you jelly-arms 3ing it tomorrow.

If they move the pin location up the hill to where the basket is more visible from your tee shot.  Then you can call it a 4.

I also feel Hole 3 long could be a par 5.  I have maybe had 1 putt on it for 3 ever, and feel good every time I 4 it.

But Hole 14 could be a par 3.  Had plenty of putts for 2 on that.

I would even take that bet, Joe.  It all depends on the wind like I said earlier and 15-25+ out of the south tomorrow won't allow for any 3's.  I think it is still a par 4 on a regular day though.  Hole 3 is a par 5 in my mind moreso than hole 1.  And 14 is a par 3 any day of the week as it is a birdie opportunity more often than not when the wind allows you to take the anhyzer route and you throw a good drive.

I'm planning on getting a 2 on this.  Looking at the distances, there should be at least 15 birdies out there tomorrow...minimum.

Good luck everyone!

I want to thank everyone who came out to a wonderful sunny day at Blue Valley and Cliff Drive for the City of Fountains.  Congrats to all of the winners and we look forward to seeing you next year.  No Ace was hit (except a black ace) so the Ace Fund will carry over to Paradise Diamond on May 18th at Smithville Lake.

Four out of the top five in Open we're Masters. Way to go old guys. I'm actually impressed because I sat this one out partially due to the length.

Black ace! We want DETAILS!

BV #9 of course played to the long 746' pin.... Marc Wisbey threw his Blizzard Boss 400' directly in to the basket of the short placement, marked out of play with a BIG yellow trash bag! He considered this a "gray" ace as it was not in play for another hole and thus accepted our cajoling, but did not pay us each $5.

The way his round was going this was, um, "par for the course"  ::)
