Post by: robm on March 07, 2016, 01:21:06 PM
Carolyn's Dirty Water Open at Rose Park in McLouth, KS on May 28, 2016.

The work crews out at Rose Park have done quite a bit of work on the back holes around the pond.  It will be noticeably better than it was last year when it was only 6 weeks old at tournament time.

This will be a ratings based tournament similiar to the Big Blue Monster last fall.

Registration is open.  Tournament flyer will be posted soon.

All divisions are $25.

Gold division is Pro - Open and will pay as Cash or Merchandise credit for those that want to retain Am status.

Rest of divisions pays as merchandise.
All ams will receive a Gateway disc (various molds will be available).

Purle division (<800 Rating) will receive a bonus pack item with no additional payout.

Registration is here:

McLouth has a Casey's General Store and Bitler's Cozy Cafe & BBQ. I have not tried either one, however, so I cannot vouch for their food.

i can vouch for Casey's pizza. it is the most scrumptious, delicious, absolutely delightful combination of fresh baked crust and 100% real cheese.  :P

order a large taco or bacon cheeseburger.  :o you wont be disappointed.

this message is brought to you by Casey's General Store. A general store and a whole lot more.
prices may vary. no purchase necessary. offer good until 5/31/16. not valid with any other coupons

$25 all divisions.  Ratings based tournament similiar to the Big Blue Monster (which is different than the Wide Open's Performance Flight this past weekend).  It is still stroke play, but you are grouped with players with similiar ratings versus age or gender.

The McLouth disc golf crew has been working really hard to continue improving the Rose Park course.  Check out some photos of their work here:

Rob. I'm interested in playing BUT I'm on injured reserve list. I'm guessing I can wait to register day of. If not that's all good. I'll still be there to support the tournament.

Since this is the KCFDC forum page, I would like to take the opportunity to point out if you don't want to drive to mcclouth or if you want to take the opportunity to come play a casual round, have BBQ, drink beer if you're legal, and get a shirt and disc for $20, this also happens to be KC Disc Golf Day, the proceeds of which go to course improvements and other Club functions. If you go to McClouth, have fun and drive safe. :)

Agreed!  Participate in KC Disc Golf Day.  If that is not your thing, this is another option.

I started a discussion on how we can deal with the wet conditions at the event's Facebook page.  As I don't want to detract from KCFDC Disc Golf Day, please go to the facebook page to pitch in your thought.

I'll also be emailing those that have signed up already via dgscene.

So, I've already have received enough of feedback to know Saturday is the best choice for most players. We will play Saturday and use as many temporary positions as we can.

If you have a temporary basket and want to bring it, we may end up using it. Not saying we would for sure, but the more available the more we can improve the playing conditions.

Sign up starts at 9am. Highly recommend you bring umbrellas, towels, dry socks and shoes. Typical disc golf rain gear.

Wow, after all the discussion about possibly postponing the tournament, playing alternate holes, etc...WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY! Ground was wet, but playable. Blue skies. Typical Kansas wind. Turned out very well.

45 players showed up. Thanks guys and gal!

Yes it was wet. Yes it was muddy..  But still a beautiful day to be out playing some disc golf.  Another awesome tournament rob. Its nice to play different courses that normally most kc players dont get to experience that often.  Thanks to Mclouth for putting in a nice course that has its challenges for risk and reward golf.  I got to play with some great guys i normally dont get to play with and a couple ive had the pleasure to play with before and had a great time. Now bring on Atchison.
