Title: Water Works Baskets for SALE
Post by: jack on May 11, 2018, 01:37:27 PM
More rule clarification notated at the bottom.  Please read.

We need your help.  And you want to help, and we know you want to take a piece of this history home with you.

We have been given permission to get new baskets for the Water Works Disc Golf course.  We have also been given the permission to sell the existing baskets in order to defray the cost to the city.  We are in the process of ordering 18 new Mach X’s for the course and we hope to have them in very soon.  With that in mind we are proud to offer a silent auction for each of the 1-18 baskets.  The minimum bid will be $250/ea to start.  That will get you the basket out of the ground….  Keep in mind that these baskets are the older model that is connected at the base(ground) not like those at many of our courses that have the “Cashen Sleeve”.  We are working on having modifications done to the baskets as well as giving you a metal “base” for easier use at home, but that will change the pricing to $315 to start.  Once someone indicates that they are wanting the “home Mod” done, the price will jump automatically to $315 and the bid goes on.

Bids will be required in $5 increments.

Bids will be capped at $1000/ea.  If you reach that mark, it is yours.  All proceeds that go above the amount needed will be reinvested within the disc golf community and the KCFDC.

1-$315--Scott Reek--$350 Fred Smith
2-$250--Bowen Seiter--$350 Fred Smith
3-$315--Mark Stiles--$350 Fred Smith
4-$250--Matt Dixon--$260 Francisco Garcia--$315(modify) Jeff Ozorkiewicz
5-$250--Matt Dixon--$320 Jack Lowe
6-$250--Matt Dixon--$275 Mike Thomas
7-$315--Kevin Corbett
8-$315--Some Flocking Bird
9-$260--Francisco Garcia --$275 Mike Thomas--$280 Francisco Garcia
10-$250--Matt Dixon--$275 Mike Thomas
11-$250--Matt Dixon--$275 Mike Thomas
12-$250--Matt Dixon--$320--Walker
13-$315--The Mighty Michael Krueger
14-$315--Jack--$320 Peter Engleman
15-$250--Matt Dixon
16-$250--Matt Dixon--Rob Martin $320
17-$250--Matt Dixon--$325--Sally Rowden
18-$250--John Theiss--$300 Joe Douglass--John Theiss $305

NEW ADDITION
We will be continuing the bid process until the baskets are ordered from the city to replace.  This should be done this week.  Once the order has been placed and we are notified, there will be a 48 hour window put out for the "close" of the auction.  At that time all last minute bids will then go into a 24 hour window.  In other words, if you try to bid at the 11:55 PM mark because the bid ends at midnight, the clock "restarts" until 11:55 the next night.  This is to prevent someone from coming in and trying to snipe the basket.  I hope you can understand, but we all have to be fair with those that want the baskets, as well as ensuring that everyone has a fair shake.  These are the rules.  Once a date is determined I will post in all the appropriate places, FB and KCFDC forum.

What's the significance behind $315? Is that the cost of a new Mach X?

Minor thread drift...but will next Mach X's be installed before KCWO?

I don't read either....but that is to get the basket modified and to get a stand for it as well.  $250 is for the "nofrills" just pull it out of the ground and give it to me.  $315, covers the ~$65 to cut the pole, and get you a stand for your backyard or where you want it to go.

Mach X's go for about $500/ea.

Minor thread drift...but will next Mach X's be installed before KCWO?

That is the hope and plan.

To be fair, You are long winded and I barely ever get past the first sentence. Even though I did edit your spiel down for the Club Facebook page. I'm now remembering something about $315.

FYI, Might want to reemphasize the Friends and Family method.  I have seen a lot of people on FB complaining because the new PayPal app seems to default to Goods and Services. So a lot of people are having issues having to send the additional fee, then getting a fee on that payment as well...so on and so on...

The baskets are in town, I know this.  I haven't received information about what is being done to "repair/replace" the sleeves, and I want to ensure that we do that as well before we just "move the baskets in" the ground.

Once I get this information I will be working on moving forward accordingly.

That I don't know yet, even if it is a "club project" they have the tools/machinery to make the job very very easy so they have to help.

We are awaiting new sleeves from Parks and Rec ordering them, and then we will be determining a workday to plant the sleeves and build baskets.  We also will (hopefully) be bringing out the tee signs that were at Swope and installing them as well.  PnR should be "scarring" the tee pads as well to help with traction.

Now then tree replacement will be the next big agenda item out at WW.

There are 5 sleeves to go in at Water Works.  That said, the new baskets can go in at any time.  It would be easiest if we could coordinate pick up at the same time for as many baskets as possible.

As soon as we know when baskets can go in this week, we will post that.

10- sleeves left.
Hole 1- short on the hill, short on the hill left
Hole 2-All 4 to replace
Hole 3-short and short on the road
Hole 18-Short right
Practice Basket by playground area

We are working on getting the plans in place to cut the existing sleeves and have the stands built as well.  I am uncertain when we can get the remaining done due to the weather and out of town with parks this week.....  At this time, the plan would probably be to move them to club storage after they are done and then work on getting them to individuals as we can based on everyone's schedule.  or be out there the say that we build the baskets and get yours then, if we need to cut them day of, we are hoping to have that available.

Club - I realize everyone is busy, KCWO was huge, etc.

This WW basket sale has been going on for 14 months now.  Let's get it finalized and the baskets made available for pickup please.

Thank you,

waiting on the stands, as we were under the impression that they were goping to be $50/ea, our quote last week came in at $90/ea.  So we are shopping a bid around.  If you didn't order it with the sleeve, we can get arrangements.

We have secured an assembler for the bases, Pete is going to be making them and they should all be ready over the next couple of weeks.  We will be working on reaching out to those that need the bases as well.  If you don't need the base and your name isn't Kevin Corbett, please let me know and I can work on getting you the basket sooner.

Bases have been built and the poles on the baskets have been cut down to regulation size.  Thanks Pete for taking care of that!  I've contacted all of the winners of the baskets and scheduled times with them this weekend to come pick up their baskets.  Thank you all for your patience in this process.
