Title: Stupidest Disc Color You Throw?
Post by: Dan Weinert on February 17, 2009, 08:20:00 AM
What's the stupidest disc color you or someone you know throws?

A buddy of mine throws a dead leaf brown Surge...in the winter and fall...and then wonders why we look hours for it on almost every throw.

I saw a guy throwing a full camo disc once...key word...once...he lost it the very first throw.

I love the tie dies but they can be a bear to find sometime.

The brown has got to be the hardest to see.

What I can't stand is the stamp colors.  It's like the manufacturers are color blind.  How many people really want green & purple stamps on light base colors?  Blue & Black stamps look much better.

Weights also: how many times do you get lighter weights in when heavier are most predictable and better for golf shots.

One of my buddies has a tie-dye Orc that has a yellow, red, and black checker design on it. Seems we are always looking for that disc. I try not to throw white discs at Cliff Drive because of the trash problem (paper plates), green and yellow seem to blend in good during the Summer months (even a chartreuse disc blends in with foliage that is backlit by the sun), and red discs seem to be harder to find in leaf piles and at dusk. Was talking with Ted at DGW the other day, and saw a couple of Star Valks with the ugliest brown (ecru) earthen tones to them. Who would want such a disc, I dunno...

I agree about stamp colors as well. Definitely some odd-ball color combinations out there. Red discs with purple stamps... I mean, WTF?

I have some clear Gateway Sabres that are impossible to see if they're sitting down in anything.

In fact, a lot of Gateway's colors suck.  I have discs that are leave green, sand, dirt, and dead leaves in color.

Nice Charlton Heston reference.  If you can get an Omega Man reference in there, bonus points.

This thread is why most of my winter golf is played at NIIIGHT, then it doesn't matter what color the disc... but if your light is worn out  or not! When the spring rolls around i hope to be thawed out enough to not have to go looking... idealogically at least...

Not that summer is here...and with all the new greenery out on all the courses...does that change what disc you throw...or the color of the disc you throw?

Yellows and whites become hard to see if the course has lots of dandelions...and of course...thats the two colors I throw the most.

Color has no impact because my discs are usually in one of three places; my bag, my hand or the basket!
