Have any pins moved?
Title: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: tedkeith on December 14, 2005, 11:30:53 AM
I don't think that there has been any pin movement since Jamies last post.

FYI I will be out of lights for the next couple of weeks. They are ordered but not here yet. If you need some many Wal-Marts and sporting goods stores carry them in the fishing section.

I replaced the original 16 sleeve... I couldn't find the old one so the new one is a bit longer, I believe.  Also, I ACED #1 shorty w/my julianna aviar; it was purty.

Almost every shot I see out of TA looks like a metal seeking missile.  I think it's his Tom Sellick moustache!

Kind of off subject, but my buddy and I were enjoying a round of golf when the new pins were being put in! we were playing on the holes as they were setting them. haha! thanks for the new arrangements!

Yeah, I saw that.  I'm just wondering if they will move before I'm there.  And if so, where would they be?

Never mind.  I'll just make a point to check this forum before I leave.

Post by: eupher61 on March 15, 2006, 09:06:35 AM
It's hard to say where the pins will be moved.  I don't know if Jamie has a set pattern or not, but there likely won't be any new ones by then!

If you don't know where the pin options are, http://www.playdg.com/waterworks/  It doesn't show the new 7 Right or 9 supershort, but everything else should be accurate.

As of 4/3, two new placements!!!  #4 straight away center field, but a little long and on #6 a fun shorty on the right (I damn near aced it today).  I accept no responsibility for approach/putt errors on this new placement.

I really enjoyed the long layouts for WW, Swope, and Rosedale.  I'm not sure how soon I can make it back to KC this summer, but am planning on another visit.  Can anyone say how long the pins will stay in their current positions?
Title: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: superq on July 05, 2006, 09:08:07 AM
the new long right pin at WW on 17 is super sick.  Threw a element right under neath it, but that pin is wayyyyyyyyy to close to ob on the right and long, you really only have about 7-10 feet of saftey on about 180 degreees of the pin...

The setting on hole 12 left on top of that hill is sick too... be wary of the hyzer I almost ended up in the old parking lot.
Title: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: Schoen-hopper on July 05, 2006, 11:45:47 AM
I threw 2 shots on hole 17.  One was 10 feet to the right of the basket.  The other was 15 feet long.  Both OB!  Killer placement.

I couldn't believe 12's new one.  I opted to throw straight at it, because I had no idea what the hyzer would do and their was actually more danger hitting the hole with the hyzer.  My straight shot turned out 30 foot short and my hyzer went all the way into the road long.  I was expecting the crosswind to kill it short and high, but as I said, I wasn't really sure.

Quite a few new placements out there.  3 looks tough!

Mango,

Gop to www.playdg.com and click on MO, and WW, there you can see all placements, with the exception of a few new ones on #9, #12, #17.  Otherwise it is too long to list.

Thanks!  I have looked on playdg.com and the course looks great!  However, there do seem to be a few blind over the hill shots....we might just have to have some one run up and take a peek at where the basket is.

Is the course in the set-up that will be used for the Mighty-Mo?  Also when do you expect to have the Wide Open set-up?  Us locals could use any advantage we can get for the 25th KCWO.

Thanks

Why is it that this thread continually pops up with new messages?  It doesn't look like there has been a new message in here since May of 2007.  Is some weirdo just continually editing an old message?

Yes, some weirdo.

That may be about as close as you get to all short!

What is the course record for any position?  It was mostly long at the KCWO and Ken Franks shot something really good the first round?

Todd Henry shot -15 during league once, in a mixed setting, missed a few short holes.....when asked how do you shoot -15, he replied, you miss 3 F%$@ing putts.....

3 reg locations. on special occasions we will put #7 in 10's superlong position <past the bush>, and 7 is occasionally played to the island practice pin! historically there was a placement short right, but was removed for a narrow walking path.

2 reasons: flow so there is not too much backup on the course, and safety for 9's pad and 5's final approach. thanks for asking "why" instead of "how come"

Hole 8 short is one of the toughest greens in KC. I think it's a much better hole than the other two. So now it's a battle of opinions.

What he said.  I think getting a 2 on the middle placement is easier than the short.  It's also got a much larger 3 putt potential.

#8 short is a finesse shot that's a much tougher deuce that it looks, and with the hill it sits on, fours and fives happen.

Probably not much scoring spread on the other two placements.

You're not really using the long left placement for the Wide Open on #12?
Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: Timko on May 27, 2012, 09:32:43 PM
The long left placement is the one that's through the center gap then down the hill toward #13's pad. Not the one that throws over #18.

I'm curious.... Does Hole #4 have another placement? Do we need to put a peace sign on every one so they get used more often? :)

We need to make a yin/yang on the short placement. Then come up with something for the other placements....  Smiley face, Coca-Cola logo....(get them to pay for it)... Pepsi logo... (again, they pay for it)....  etc...

You know that is a pretty long set up for the event in all honesty with the variety of people playing, it seems to be playing pretty darn long.

Where are any of the pins to the "left" on #4? :P
Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: Mike Hyzer on October 11, 2012, 12:18:21 PM
Looks like a great set up. Best part is how no one will have to drive to Olathe or Shawnee to play these holes.

I digress, but I like #3 personally as one of the best golf holes, and #6 long out there at BV.

I still don't know where this hole #4 "left" is at though..... ::) ???

There is a long left on #4 but I actually requested it to be short. Also 6 middle. and 3 short middle.
Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: jack on October 11, 2012, 04:04:10 PM
Where?

I guess you could say the long one not in the Peace Rock scar your disc forever spot, so it's left of that, but none of the pins are "left"

At least when I think of "left" or "right" I am thinking of the way to view them from the pad...so hence my confusion.

Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: jack on April 22, 2013, 04:25:00 PM
No...we need to move the pins.  I want the course to be worked on, not over played.  Please move pins away from the Wide Open settings.  Otherwise we can't get any work done on the pin placements in advance of the wide open.  ANy work we do will be wasted away by the continual use.

I want the pins to look as "fresh" as we can for the wide Open, so if you must, please move them all one short, or one longer than they need to be.  I don't want to have everything beat up at WW.

URGH!

I have requested that the pins be moved after the holiday weekend, Memorial day weekend, that gives us about 2 weeks in the place for the Wide Open.

A few recommendations from me:

Hole 1: Right Side
Hole 9: Left Side
Hole 15: Long Right (is the pin/lock OK?)
Hole 16: Long

Haven't seen these in awhile, that's my reasoning. Also, big THANKS to you Mr. Mills for keeping league as fresh as possible.

It is a silly placement as well, really unsafe all the way around since the shrubberies were removed.  It is bad enough you have people on 14 throwing at people on 15, now you want people on 15 throwing at people on 14 as well.  Hatfields and McCoys come to mind....

that is the single worst placement on the course.....
15 long long right

Absolutely the most unsafe pin in the existence of the course.  And never needed.....

In defense of that placement, if it is left in that position for a good while, the other placements can grow some groundcover because the other 3 placements are dangerously eroded, especially in wet conditions

18 short is pretty dangerous when 12 is in the dogleg. freakin noobs! 15 will be moved sometime this weekend, hell maybe even today!

Is it now set for the Wide Open?

That is not the full set-up. Changes to this would be 9 middle, 10 middle (which may end up short), 11 long, 12 long right, 14 long, 15 left. But other than that, yes. :)

yes it is a muddy dirty mess on 15s other baskets, trying to work on getting some swope style brick retaining walls put in there and possibly on 7's left placement

Kujo,
You got a date on the day that you are going to get out and set that brick at WW?  I am off tues/wed, and am looking to a) ditch my kids with a babysitter and b) help out at a park.  Let me know.

Do you know if 14 Middle (the next one to the right) is as bent as the left? I would rather you move it there for the tournament. That lean is bad.
Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: EL KUJO on May 02, 2016, 10:12:26 AM
are you talking about 15? if its leaning i can hulk smash it straight. we had to do that to 10 middle after bending the sleeve and adding a chain.

****hole 15 is really eroding and needs some retaining walls installed***

hole 14 middle got run over by another mower and is currently KIA.

I WILL GET OUT THERE TODAY AND GET 15 LEFT STRAIGHTENED OUT

Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works

you could play 11 across the road to the practice basket as well.

That's a great well protected green, and is groovy from 18's pad also
Title: Re: Pin Movement At Water Works
Post by: MK on December 22, 2016, 04:19:50 PM
Yeah I have thought about using the island practice basket for 7 or 10.  What I don't like is that people park there and I'd hate for cars to get hit.  Also, cars moving artificially changes the course.

I've not thought about 11 or 18 to the other practice basket but I have the exact same reservations.
