Organized play in the winter can be found on Saturdays at Rosedale down under, on Sundays at Pleasant Hill at 12:30 and at Smithville. Check the course threads for more info. Summer season leagues will be starting after daylight saving time kicks. Stay tuned for more info in the next few weeks.

Jerry, I also live in Raytown.  I am always up for a round.

I will be running the Swope league again this year which will begin in late March/early April.  Give me a shout if you want to play.

Jerry, You may want to be cautious playing alone at a few of our courses. Some may prefer a 45mm, flack jacket or pepper spray as part of their gear.

Honestly, Steve's comment was very irresponsible and I hope he thinks before he says stuff like that to a new player in our community.  In fact, we rarely if ever have issues with any of our parks. Due to Disc Golf, in some of our more urban parks, crime has been greatly reduced. I hope his comments don't turn you away from any one of the fantastic parks we have in KC.

If anything you will need to stock up on Poison Ivy cream and bug spray during the summer.

And maybe ignore everything Don Glover has to say...

I feel my comments are very warranted as I feel uncomfortable in certain parks by myself. Safety is always my number one concern and not giving a word of advice to an unaware player would be irresponsible. If anybody does not feel the same way is their prerogative just as my fair warning is mine.
Jerry you can PM me for more details. Or not. Its his choice!

FEAR is used to control human behavior. Some of us promote it and others destroy it by facing it.

Seriously folks, WE are the reasons disc golf parks are safer than those without.

I can't think of any local parks I wouldn't play in by myself during daylight hours. Things are tough all over.

There are plenty of fine places to play all over town, and the weather couldn't be more better.

The work that thousands of people have done to help make disc golf as good as it is in Kansas City will be easy to see whilst you play on a few courses that have been used 3x for world championships.  The only other place that could even come close to saying that is Winthrop if they wanted to......so enjoy the courses, realize you are in a public setting, but none of our courses have a history of being "shooting ranges" so no guns are needed......unless Glover is with you, then its just safe to have protection.......

the reality is there is less chance of someone pulling a weapon than someone willing to pull your weapon. just to be on the safe side it would be prudent to keep both in your pants.
