I do realize this was mothers day weekend, but I truly had no other day to be able to do it that worked with our schedule and did not conflict with other events.  This is just the first event we will host here, so if you are unable to make it, there will be other opportunities.  For those that can make it, it is going to be a great event on a great course.

Kinda figured you were backed into that date :)  Just bummed I can't make the inaugural tourney. It might have forced me to make the 1.5+ hour drive to get up there and play!!

With this being the Inaugural Event, would you like to see it challenged with OB and placement shots, leave the course as is, lengthen the courses, shorten the courses?  What do you think?

Huh?  The courses have never been played in an event and you already wanna change em?

The courses you picked are great, lets just play them as is.

Nope I do not want to change them, I just wanted to hear the opinions of those who have played it and see if it was worth the idea.

Woodhenge with OB sounds like we might see some people break into the triple digits!

I am sure there will not be any changes to the courses except some basic upkeep.  I was just curious what people thought and wanted to talk about it.

I think they should change the teepad design.  Wide at the back and narrow at the front seems kind of strange.  Just my opinion.

OK Jack:  Not sure what your stance is on pad design after reading the link but in my opinion, narrow at the front seems to present a possibility of slipping off the pad and twisting an ankle or whatever.  I guess I'm old school and just love the rectangular design.

My second beef with the Smithville pads is the circular ones.  They seem to be about 10' in diameter which for me seems a little small.  I do love the huge circular pads at Blue Valley.

Once again, these are my own opinions and do not represent anybody else however I will point out that you and I do agree on HopSlam. :-)

Aside from my concerns, I am glad Smithville is in the ground and it's not like I will never go back.

Not to rehash this too much but the idea of flaring at the back of the tee should be done by widening the back, not making the front more narrow. If you like rectangular tees then you should have not problem with that design. The other benefit is that it allows the designer to restrict the potential release points while still allowing for multiple approach angles.

I walked  both Woodhenge and Blackthorn and sent an email about the fairways still needing mowed.  The park department is hoping to have the new tee signs in before the event.

I'll be going up there early, though Olathe is out of my way. If you can get to 69hwy or I35 & 75th st you're welcome to ride. Already doing an hour trip North, don't really wanna add West into that drive.

The course is looking great.  All of the Tee Signs are up, arrows painted and the fairways are cleaned up on blackthron.  They even installed a bridge on Hole 15 at blackthorn.
