Title: "FNLL"
Post by: jhinck2 on May 15, 2012, 04:00:05 PM
Friday Night Legacy League I like to call it. If only we could get some weekly score posts and round highlights such as ACES on hole 12 and DEUCES on hole 18 long, etc etc every now and again....

Sooo, did you deuce 18 long?  Now we know.

Jose aced 12 with a Champ Eagle.  Now we know that too.   ;)

Ok so I put emphasis on the wrong part of that post. There have been a lot of new players out playing FNLL and it would be cool to see them get their scores posted.

And to add to round highlights, there are ALWAYS wild and crazy "epic" shots being seem out there ;)

Johnny doesn't get on much, so perhaps you can get the scores from him and update us every week?  I would love to see scores and turnout from Legacy.

Dan has been running it...

Sorry, I haven't posted scores...I've got a new machine and haven't gotten everything transferred from the old one yet...I'll get the scores posted this week. The League is in full swing with 8 out on 4/27, 20 on 5/4, and 17 on 5/11...so even though I haven't posted scores, come on out and get in on the fun. :P

Here's a brief recap for 5/11 doubles...

I was lucky enough to get to play on the card of Slim/Dan, Cali Jose, and Jordan/Boyd (for starters I got to give Jose $5 of the $6 I won for his no doubt Ace on #12)...this was probably the most competitive card that I've played on at Legacy...Slim, Jose, and Jordan were throwing bombs all night and everyone was finishing...after 16 holes Slim/Dan were -9 and Cali Jose & Jordan/Boyd were -10...Slim/Dan didn't convert from inside of 30' on #17 long while Cali Jose & Jordan/Boyd both birdied...Jordan/Boyd took the win with a bird on #18 Long from 25' to finish at -12, while Cali "Ace" Jose finished at -11.  Jordan/Boyd really had some impressive birds... 7 Long, 8 Short, 17 Long, and 18 Long...they birdied 7 of the back nine holes, only missing #10 and #15.

Be at Legacy this Friday night for Ace refreshments courtesy of Jose Ossa.

Ace fund is now 1/2 of what it was Friday night (Timko is verifying the total).

Total was $208 at the beginning of the year.  Once we get the league spreadsheet totally updated we'll get the totals.

Being this is the 3rd Friday of the month is this going to be singles or doubles?

Nice Ace Jose!!

I'd say as long as Dan's running it, it will be doubles. I mean this is LS, we don't know how to play singles.

That's strange....I thought all you knew how to do was play with yourself.

I have played exactly ONE round of singles there for league.  Would really like to see some singles some time.  I like doubles, but would like to see some singles at some point.

Love watching this topic.....just waiting for the first singles night to pop up, so that maybe I will make my first Legacy league.

It seems like there has been quite a bit of interest in singles in these last 2 legacy threads ???

Sounds like we should at least try ONE night of singles...I mean come on man!!!

Dan said he's not going to run singles.  If someone would care to step up and do it, he'd be more than happy to let them though and step aside.

Can't commit to running league, too many things going on to know in advance if I can make it. Just wish the option was there to play a singles league out there once in a blue moon.
Title: Re: "FNLL"
Post by: phisherman_77 on May 17, 2012, 11:12:08 AM
It's stayed doubles because that's what most of the regulars want to play.

There are a lot of beginning to intermediate players that play that league, and it's more fun for them to draw someone like Jake Bowen than it is for them to get a 5 on #10 because they only throw 180 feet.
Title: Re: "FNLL"
Post by: Jake B on May 17, 2012, 11:40:55 AM

It's stayed singles doubles because that's what most of the regulars want to play.

There are plenty of "regulars" interested in playing singles, we just need to find one that can show up to run league.  If beginners want to play with pro's then league should be ran like it was in Columbia... Pro/Am. If it's random draw doubles every time, there is a good chance they might be paired with another beginner, defeating your purpose. Aside from tomorrow, June 1st, and June 22nd, I can be available to run it if no one else is going to step up. I would even consider running doubles once a month with the Pro/Am format.

I heard there might be a few good highlights from the playoff last night.

Highlights from our card was Joe's 40 foot downhill birdie on 12, Jordan/Joe birdies on 4,8,17, and Kevin's putt from 25 ft that went over and through the tree for par on 18 long.
Title: Re: "FNLL"
Post by: dclabe on May 19, 2012, 04:10:18 PM
Jordan/Joe walked away with the easy win with a 45...then to Dan/Paul's chagrin, Bob/Eric(I can't really throw cause I hurt my back) came in with a 48 to tie us for 2nd.

We agreed on a 2-hole sudden death playoff of #1 & #2 with darkness rapidly approaching.  On #1, Eric's drive is cruising toward the pin when it clipped a tree and fell about 50' out (that Bob couldn't improve on)...Dan got up and yanked his drive right bouncing it off of the fence between the two berms...Paul trying for the big throw, pulled his OB left on the walk path...so Dan/Paul were 100-120' out above the hole with a tree restricted line with a 10-12 tail/cross wind...Paul's approach hit the pine tree and was setting boog...Dan's hyzer approach with a Drone spiked into the trees around the pin, hit a branch and went in for the bird!...when Eric's putt facegaurded the basket it looked bleak for Bob/Eric...then Bob drained the 50' for the bird!  When Bob almost hit the basket on #2 it looked like Bob/Eric were setting bird (what none of us realized is that it hit and rolled out about 30-35')...Paul's drive hit a tree about 25' from the pin and rolled backwards...then Dan putt his right next to the same tree...Bob/Eric couldn't convert the bird, and Paul stepped up and hit the bird for the win.

Brandon Elkins won the Dynamic Disc CTP on #2 Short.

With Vince's wife Bianca playing Friday night, it hit me that we could probably have a Mixed Doubles bring your own partner division...Tom & Beth Verstraete and Kevin & Laura Weiss would seem to be pretty logical possibilities.  I would form the division if 2 teams were there...I'd also like to add the requirement that each team utilizes 6 drives by each player.

Let me know what you think...

Title: Re: "FNLL"

I'd have to disagree with the 6 drives per player...

I'd have to disagree with the 6 drives per player...

I like the idea.  It adds a little strategy to the round and makes BOTH partners have a say in the outcome.

No big arms. ok you put now :)

Dan, I like the idea.  There is a good chance we will be there again on Friday.

Jordan, I think Dan was making that rule for the mixed doubles only.  Although, I wonder if you made the doubles a Pro/Am like Jake was suggesting if you would make a similar rule for the men's cards.

Just thought I'd mention that LSPR just mowed the rough... ;D ;D ;D...the course is in outstanding condition(possibly the best mow of the rough, ever)... ;D ;D ;D...as you can see its hard not to smile...

Come out and get a taste of the Jekyl and Hyde setup (front all long, back all short)...if tonight  was any indication there'll be a good turnout...

Plus, I'm going to try and make it down to Dynamic Discs for some CTP prizes...

Seriously, May 25th to June 28th is the posting gap for Legacy?

Has there been any FNLL in the month of June?

I am going to try to get Beth out for FNLL mixed-doubles tomorrow, but it maybe a tough sell with the heat.

It never got above 70 the last week we were in CA/OR, so this heat is quite alot to take  :'(

Since I was on nearly a month ago, that would explain the deceased equine strapping  ;) Must have gotten too hot to run a computer.

Legacy League, 7/13 (Mostly clear 87 - 79, wind East 5 -9 mph)

Twentyfour players out (18 for random draw doubles and 6 for BYOP Mixed doubles) at Legacy on a hot and dry evening.  Course is dry but in playable condition...we haven't had any rain for 4-6 weeks, so the grass is mostly toasted brown and dormat.

BYOP Mixed doubles (must use 6 drives of each player)...Tom/Beth finished with a bird on the last hole (#9) to take the win with a 54.  Shots of note...heard that Bianca threw to the tree line on #4(Vince threw one of his famous tomahawks over to get within 50' and they hit the putt for a 3)...Melissa was booming drives in the 300' vicinity all night.

Random draw doubles...Jake B/Eric took the win with a 43(with a bogie), Pearse/CD were second with a bogie free 44, and Dan/Brian were third with a 47.  Shots of note...Jake/Eric birds on #1 Long and #7 Long...Brian parked #13 Left and #18 Short right under the basket...Kyle/Jake R birdied #5 Long from 70' or better...

Twentyone players out (17 for random draw doubles and 4 for BYOP Mixed doubles) at Legacy on another hot and dry evening.  Course is basically in the same condition...weird how the grass doesn't seem to be growing...

BYOP Mixed doubles (must use 6 drives of each player)...Steve/Melissa and Trevor/Margo tied at 60...Trevor/Margo(in their first League) won with a par on the first playoff hole (#10)...

Random draw doubles...Brandon/Brian P took the win with a 47...courtesy of birds on #7 Long and #10...Jake B/Kevin W and Jay C/Slim B tied at 48 and split the cash when Jay had to leave.  Shots of note...Brandon Elkins drive to within 30' on #10...Brandon Eaton's field ace from #3's Short pin to #4 Long (175' or so) to save par...

Legacy League, 7/27 (Clear 92 - 82, wind North 8 - 12 mph)

Twentythree players out (17 for random draw doubles and 6 for BYOP Mixed doubles) at Legacy on a cooler evening.  Course looks like early fall...lot of the trees are brown and losing their leaves...

BYOP Mixed doubles (must use 6 drives of each player)...Kevin/Laura Weiss took the win with a solid 52 (5 birds with 3 bogeys)...

Random draw doubles...Cali Jordan took the win with a 45...Brandon/Jacob were second with a 47...Dan/Brian were third with a 48.  Shots of note...Cali Jordan and Jitt/Justin birdied #7 Long...Jordan's drive on #10 that looked like it could've hit the basket and was maybe 6' away (for the drop in bird)...Brandon's drive on #11 Long that was 20' to the right for the easy bird...Matt Perry buzzed the tower on #12 going straight over the top of the basket with his new Star Rancho Roc (and converted it for the bird)...Jordan's drive on #18 Long that was 20' left of the pin (for the easy bird)...

Looks like it should be a grrreat evening for some DG with the temps in the low 80s, plus LSPR moved the following pins this week:

#3 Short
#4 Short
#7 Short
#13 Right
#17 Long

So the course should play a little easier and faster...so come out and get some!

Now let's not go canceling this thing at the slightest sprinkle. We won't melt. Legacy is set short with some incredibly low scores available. Who's in?

Legacy League,9/1(Clear 70s, light Northeast wind )

Nineteen players out at Legacy on a perfect night for DG.  Course is needing a trim believe or not!

All nineteen players played  Random draw doubles...One card left without leaving their card, so I can't really post scores.  On our card we had a triple dare throwdown, where if you blink, you lose...PaulK/KevinW start out with a turkey getting 1 thru 3, JordanH/PatrickM had a turkey on 2 thru 4 (with Jordan parking #4 Short), DanC/MattP had a turkey on holes 6 thru 8 (both MattP and JordanH parked #8 Short)...after 9 holes it was PaulK/KevinW and JordanH/PatrickM tied at -6, with DanC/MattP at -5 (after missing a 28' for bird on #9)...this really motivated MattP, he put his drive within 20' on #10 (for the bird), was pin high about 40' on #11 which DanC converted for the bird...when the dust settled DanC/MattP went 7 in row, and finished with birds on 8 of 9 holes on the back, to take the win with a 41.  PaulK/KevinW and JordanH/PatrickM both tied with 42s...PaulK/KevinW won the playoff for second with a bird on #2.

So come out and have some fun tomorrow...this is probably the last FNLL of the season...

BYOP mixed doubles division will be in play as long as there is 2 teams or more...

Next League is Friday 9/21 at 5:30 pm, if you have any questions about League give me a call at 816-210-1063....
