General Banter / Re: New Course Potential in Prairie Village
« on: Today at 08:29:17 AM »
Last night the Prairie Village City Council approved funding for a nine hole course in Harmon Park to be installed in 2014.  Thank you Mike Petrin and PV Parks and Rec.

I need to give huge props to the following people that Help out on Saturday at Water Works:
Tracy Walker, Loomis, and Cooper for fixing the tee signs and moving mulch.
Chris Millsap for helping to get the mulch for the peace sign and helping to throw it.  Rhonda, Jaimee Crosby, and Jodi O’Keefe for painting the swingset.  Amando and Caleb for painting the O.B. lines.  And Ian who got tree on 7 mostly removed and mulching.  Even the couple hours some of these people put in, made the course look better.  Please be sure to let them know what you think of the course.

Sunday at Swope we didn’t have as many people but their accomplishments have to be recognized also.
Chris Millsap for finishing the painting on the pro shop and making the new stairs look even better.
Caleb and Jose Ossa for coming in, when Eric and I were running out of gas, to get the rest of the mulch done.  The fresh legs and backs were awesome.
Dan Cashen, the stairs to #14 are great.
Again if you see these guys please give big thanks.

It’s because of all the people that helped on the courses this weekend that makes Kansas City the best place to live and play.  I think everyone that helped on the Missouri courses also played golf before, during or after helping out on the courses.

Here's an idea.  Anyone that shows up to help at one of the courses gets a ticket they can redeem to flog Jack at the players party.  The courses get done, Jack gets flogged, everyone wins.

If you were planning on coming to Water Works but decided to go to Blue Valley to flog Jack please reconsider.  It would be fun to flog jack but that line will be huge.  We will be starting at Water Works around 9:00.

They are on order Drew.  The tree on 7 is also cut up and ready to be removed or used.

Scott I will do whatever I can to help as always....

Also...I feel like my posting may have went better under the Wide Open topic....nothing against your tourneys.

Why would it go under the Wide Open topic and whose tourneys are you complaining about.  The only tourney the KCFDC runs is the Wide Open.  Every other event this year has been run by an outside entity so you are only slamming DD and other promoters tourneys.

The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

I will come out to Waterworks on Saturday and help with the teesigns. That's something I CAN do.

Thanks Loomis, every thing helps.

Kansas City disc golfers we are making the final push to have the courses looking great for next weekend and beyond.  Any amount of time you can give will be appreciated.  There are little things that you can do like tee signs, put up new flags or paint lines.  How about doing some weed whacking or clearing a pile of debris?

Its all happening this weekend: Saturday at Rosedale or Water Works and Sunday at Swope.

P&R knows about the tree.  If they don't have it done by the 8th, it will get done before the 9th.

It's not a streak until there is three.  Two is just back to back.  Like KU basketball last season, back to back losses, meh, the third loss made it a streak.

If you haven’t made plans to go to Rosedale on the 8th we will be back at Water Works on that same day to finish up the projects that have been started and work on some areas that need some attention.  Here are a few of the highlights:

Weed and mulch the peace sign, tee boxes and pin placements.
Trim bushes along fours fairway and around Terrapin Station.
Remove limbs and leaves on #9 fairway.
Paint o.b. lines, marquee and map board.
Add color with plants.

What we will need:
Rakes of any kind, shovels, weed whackers and lopers.

Most of all we will need people to get the course looking great, not just for this event but for us to enjoy after.

We have been in contact with the Prairie Village Parks & Recreation Department about this possible course.  We are working with them on some literature which they will present to the city council to try to get approval and funding.  The city council is working on their 2014 budget so the course will not be going in this year.

Five days to work on a tee pad that probably isn't going to be used, you don't think that's enough time?

There will be a work day on June 9th.  You show up and I will help you get it fixed.

Are you talking about the retaining wall?  Did you stop and fix it?

Would have gone back if it wasn't moved to a Sunday.  It was a fun camping weekend when it was on Saturday.
