Man...60 degrees last week, 6 degrees today. Better put on your Under Downs today. At least it's sunny and we'll have a bonfire fo sho. Last week was tight as 3 teams tied at 41 (-13) to split $230. Shouldn't they have to playoff for 1st?? We moved a few tee pads this morning so we'll be playing the Swade layout that will be played in the Winter Wonderland tomorrow.
19 people played on a cold, blustery day. Becket C. aced (putted) short #12 to take home $159 cash money. A reasonably warm (62 degrees) Saturday following Thanksgiving has typically been one of our largest turnouts for DU league. It should be a solid field today. Again, we'll move some hoops and tee pads for another mix. We never play the same layout.
28 golfers played a mix of long and short holes on a warm, windy day. What a difference a week makes. Today the temps likely won't get out of the 20's and the wind is blowing straight down from the North freakin' Pole. We will move 6 tee pads to give the course a new look, but I expect it will still take double digits to win. Today is the perfect day to initiate the new and improved bonfire area. Big kudos to Steve Hostetler and the crew for repairing #8 long tee pad and installing a massive church pew behind it. Cool.... Power team of Arturo (1006 rated) and Mike D'Open (darn close to 1000 if he ever played a rated round) barely beat the rest of us by 1 stroke to take home $100. Breakdown was $100/$60/$40/$24. Ace $300 Club $539.
12 golfers braved the brutal conditions (62 degrees, no wind, lot'o'leaves) on a much tamer track than the week before. 47 won 11/2, 40 didn't even cash 11/9. If you didn't shoot in the 30's, no $$ for you. Shannan/YajD threw a 38 to take first on a day all 18 were birdie-able. We'll move some tee pads today to make things more interesting. I've been informed that I can't rate doubles rounds.......ha ha ha ha.... bugger off. Will someone finally shoot a 1100??
How about that awesome table that Kevin Corbett and TJ Ring built from scrap wood and hauled down to #9??? Wow.....
30 people started out the season on a difficult DU layout. Jo'Manda smoked the field to take home $100. The rest were well....... This week will see a much friendlier track with mucho ace runs. Remember sign up at 12:30pm. Everyone will tee off by 1:00pm. Park in the back lot and walk down to #9. For the folks who showed up a little late last week, get ahold of someone (like me) to get your names entered before cards are drawn. Once cards are drawn it is too late. Ummm Frank and them. Payout $100/$60/$40/$25/$15. Ace $265 Club $499.
14 golfers made it through a really beautiful DU. The course is actually friendlier because you don't get the crazy rolls and stuff. Today is the last league until next fall. We had 464 players (+ today) for the year for a payout of $3,680. Doesn't suck. Still no 1100 rated round (even with the inflated PDGA system).
For all that inquired about playing last week, only 10 showed up to actually play in the snow. Wasn't that bad. Took a little longer to trudge through it all, but whatev' Mike D'open and Danny Knox tore it up with a 42. No lost discs. Expect much of the same this week. Estoy consiguiendo cansado de la nieve....
$60/$20 for $80 Ace fund now $221
-12 1092 Danny'n'D'Open -8 1058 DZ/MikeT (supposedly, after much delay) -7 1049 ERoc/Yaj (ERoc, I need $5 back) -6 1040 EKolk/OsamaBenHansen -4 1022 Jesse/Beckett (left handed)
Please, please, please take a shovel with you if you're playing today. The 9 tee pads I cleaned last Friday at Rosedale were clean and dry when we played Sunday. The ones that had been stomped down were still a mess. Makes a huge difference. Ummm, you'll need really long ribbon too.
26 people showed up to play what we thought would be a nice round with a little snow on the ground. Unfortunately the snow melted before we started. We NEVER get to play golf in the snow anymore (insert crying baby sounds). Remember (back-in-the-day) how much fun that was?? Cute little ribbons taped to discs and all. To the 2,351 texts I've received, YES we will play today. Why not? Ace fund is over $200. Photo opportunities abound... Traiga en la nieve y el frio!!!!
