How many tourneys have individual scoring?  Yeah, it slows play down a little, but much more play per individual than a scramble.

Great news!  Miller Coors has signed on as a sponsor for this year's Flippin' Sweet Disc Golf Tournament.  They will be providing Coors, Coors Light, Blue Moon, Miller Light, Redd's Apple Ale, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, and Smith & Forge.  Tournament players will get coupons for several servings.

A big thank you to Miller Coors for sponsoring such a worthy cause.

Shawnee Mission / Path between 4th basket and 5th tee

Has been overlaid with gravel, and then with mulch.  Should be much easier to get between 4th basket and 5th tee after a rain, and when it's dry, the roots that stuck through the soil won't be so noticeable.

My understanding is that there will be an ":official league", with money exchanging hands and everything out there this year.....

Maybe those that volunteered their time can post something on here about it.....

I have volunteered to run the Tuesday daylight mini at SMP. I plan on running a standard KCFDC league with cash entry and cash payout for Open and Masters, and KC Kash payout for Ams. I have heard we have permission from JOCO Parks to do so, but if I find out otherwise, I will post ASAP.

The first night will be Tuesday, March 23. Tee time will be 5:30. Please be in the parking lot near the practice basket by 5:15 for sign-up.

Come on out to what I predict will become one of the largest attended minis in town this summer.  8)

OK, it's understood this may be addressed elsewhere, but in the event that I'm too unobservant to have noticed, when will league play resume for spring 2010?  What evening and time of play will be used?

A LOT of traffic on that course now, it's in a part of the metro area with a lot of high school and college-age players.

Shawnee Mission / How can we improve course maintenance?

Feedback indicates that members are not impressed with JCPRD's maintenance of the Shawnee Mission Park course.  In defense of JCPRD, you have to admit that the amount of rainfall has made their mowing schedule difficult, to say the least.

What if someone offered to go with a park worker to mow the course?  I played today, and the fairway on 11 wasn't even mowed, and has not been touched the last couple of mowing cycles.  A guy with his grandson were losing discs in the rough off other fairways--it was not a pretty picture as the granddad was complaining about the use of his tax $$.  I'd be willing to go with a JCPRD staff member on a mower and show them the fairways and areas that need to be mowed.  Right now, the mowing is divided among several staff members, some who obviously DON'T KNOW the course.  Can the course be assigned to a single staff mower who would know the fairways and areas that need to be cut?  The heavy use of this course justifies increased mowing an maintenance of the course.

I can help with some of the ivy eradication--I think bringing a pump sprayer with some broadleaf herbicide would do wonders.  The parks staff would probably appreciate the effort if anyone whacked and sprayed the musk thistle (looks kind of like dandelion, but has much gnarlier leaves and can grow to 6'--if you have it on your property, KS law requires that you eliminate it as a noxious weed).  Anyway, a few people showing up with pump sprayer, and perhaps an idiot stick, could make a big dent in the ivy and musk thistle festations.  If there's an organized effort, I'm in.

I went to the park course after work and found it--it was in fact a Discraft driver, and was wedged between a log and the creek bank.

I lost a very nice tie-dye design 2008 Ice Bowl Innova driver on the 2nd hole at Shawnee Mission Park.  My drive sliced to the right side of the fairway into the brush by the creek about halfway down the fairway.  Looking and looking did not work, I simply couldn't find it.  It was marked with my name and address if you find it, and has my telephone number.  I'll drive to come pick it up, or if you want to leave it at the park lost and found, I can produce ID to claim it.
