I totally understand your busy weekends. Are there any specific jobs you would be able to say need done that could be delegated to people who are wanting to help out? Stuff like brush clearing or maybe if you marked some small trees that need taken out. I really am not sure what still needs to be done but just wanted to try and help if possible. If you are going out on a week day and can post it a few days in advance I might be able to join you depending on my schedule. So feel free to ask for help if you need it. Thanks for all you are doing Scott!

Not sure yet if I can play. But PC, Swope, or Young sound fun.

I'm excited too! Scott would it be beneficial to plan a work day some Saturday when there isn't a tournament nearby? Or maybe a Sunday afternoon? I'm sure we could get some man power if we knew a week or two in advance.

Beginners / Re: PDGA Basket Rules, and Regulation s

This is a really good question. I wonder if it is similar to the ruling on a disc that is damaged? I will say that I can see how you would see it as being a bigger target, but from my experience if it is bent downward it can actually make it harder to catch depending on your putting style. I've had putts spit out because the basket portion was too low and didn't stop my disc when it bounced backward off the pole. Either way, I am curious how this is ruled. Good question. Hopefully someone has an answer on here.

I'm guessing it says "One Bad Mother Flicker"

I would agree with you Dick. Seems like a very unprofessional move to just use Facebook.

Lakeside Hills / Final Olathe Glow of the season! Monday 3/9/15
« on: March 05, 2015, 09:32:00 pm »
Tom announced that this Monday 3/9/15 will be the last Random Draw Dubs of the season and it will be happening at LAKESIDE (aka Birdland)! We draw for partners at 6 sharp. Sign up ahead of time. Cost is $5 plus an optional $1 ace fund. Looks like perfect weather! It will probably be a day glow round as we gain an hour of sunlight but it will be fun nonetheless. Hope to see lots of people out there!

Here's what I think about all of this ....

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. A young student nurse appears and gives him a partial sponge bath.  "Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?"  Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet."  He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my testicles black?"

Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles gently in the other.  She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir. They look fine."

The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says very slowly, "Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen very, very closely:

Are - my - test - results - back?"

That's what we needed here. :) thanks for that.
I know that I may have been the antagonist that started this heated discussion. For that I aplogize. I just was wanting clarification and to voice my concern. But as I also stated, I plan to play PDGA league on Monday nights as much as possible. And I love Rob. In all my interactions with him I can't think of anything bad to say. If he is making money running tournaments than props to him, because his tournaments are about half the price of a DD tournament and I still get a disc at both. (I also love DD and will continue to play their tournaments as well). My only concern in this matter was that it would dissolve the current Monday night leagues because they are smaller. I guess if this happens so be it. I'm sure Tom could probably use the break in Olathe since he has been incredibly dedicated for who knows how long, running leagues Monday nights year round. I absolutely know I am spoiled to have this decision and that is why this is not AT ALL a complaint. Just wanted some clarification. I don't feel like the board has done anything wrong and am not calling into question anyone's motives or the process. As I said before, if Monday is the night that Rob can do it, that's as good of a reason as I need. Eric K, you are a great club president and I appreciate the way you govern but also how you communicate with authenticity and honesty. I know the people on the board are serving out of the goodness of their heart and I don't want to add any stress to their lives. thanks to you all for serving. Thanks to everyone who runs leagues and volunteers. I wish you all many aces in the near future. Let's all just try to acknowledge that we see things differently and that doesn't mean one person is right or wrong. Communication is vital but it needs to be done with grace and poise, not finger pointing and name calling. We are blessed. Let's try to remember that more often.

True but is is way harder for "bad players" to succeed when the format includes worst shot and/or tough shot.

It also makes for a lot of laughs. Make sure you find a partner who doesn't take the day too seriously.

Just curious why the PDGA league is moving to Monday's? I don't want to stir the pot but it seems like there are already 3 leagues happening that night that cover about every area of the city. Plus aren't mondays at cliff PDGA leagues also? It seems like a bit of an overkill. I understand if it's because Rob is running it and he can no longer do Wednesday's. But my fear is that the Monday night leagues that are already in place already have  fairly low turnouts, I think Olathe was averaging around 8-10 probably. Don't know cliff or women's league. But I think having PDGA league those nights will just cause harm to those leagues. Whereas if it was on Wednesday or Thursday when there is just one other league happening it would be a better option. And if the argument against Thursday is that it's waterworks, which I think is probably a more popular league then I would argue that it makes more sense to do it then because both can be sustained. If we pull from Monday leagues at Olathe and cliff then who knows if you will show up one night and only have 1-2 others there because PDGA league took everyone else.
Just trying to weigh in my thoughts. I really like PDGA league and plan to play in it a lot. But wanted to share some concerns I had about the day change and see what the thoughts were that went into the change. Rob, I appreciate all the work you do for league and the KC disc golf scene. So if this is a change that was decided by you because it works best for you then I will shut up and support it.

600 ft, with a Roc. That is Legend-wait-for-it-dary. Awesome shot. Fun to watch those guys that were pioneers in the disc golf game. I also noticed that Climo hasn't really changed his fashion sense much since those days.  :o ;D

I'm really hoping to qualify for the team this year. I enjoyed just getting to watch the competition at lakeside last year. Regardless of if I play or if I watch it will be fun to cheer on the Westside!
