We had a question on Friday about the Mando on WW hole 7. Will the mando be the large tree right in the middle which will force everyone to play left through the gully? Or will the straight up the middle shot still be available?

Cliff Drive / Cliff Drive History
« on: July 26, 2014, 12:51:37 AM »
On Thursday my wife and I celebrated our anniversary by visiting some KC spots tha we hadn't been to before. I finally got to your the boulevard brewery and taste some unreleased selections ( they have a really good spiced saison in the works. Just FYI). Then we drove over to Cliff Drive to visit the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall. I had never been over there except to play the course. I already love cliff drive course because it feels old and has a lot of character. But after touring the Robert E Long Mansion and hearing the history surrounding the park and that neighborhood it made me love it even more. Being  from Olathe all I really see most days is suburb life with very little character and history. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the history lesson so much. If none of you have visited this museum you need to do it! I guess it used to be a science museum but now they are in the process of restoring it to it's original glory. The tour was free and very educational and interesting. I know the rep cliff drive gets is that it's in the ghetto but I no longer view it this way. This course shares a very rich history as part of a Kansas City area that seems forgotten but is very cool. If you are bored some day and aren't out playing I highly encourage anyone who enjoys history, or architecture, or just hearing about how cool our city is to go check this place out. You can find details online.

Will  there be dinner provided at the players party? Any details?

I was wondering if you have a payout table already for this event? I think this is the first time I've ever played an Am only event so I was just curious what that makes the payout structure look like and how many spots get paid. I'm in intermediate. I know that one is full already so I thought you may at least know the structure for that, or a rough estimate. Thanks!
And is rec playing trophy only or do they get paid out also?

I played the ww course tonight and I am an am player. I definitely didn't play as we'll as I should have but I enjoyed the lay out. Even though I'm not a pro I like to be challenged. Waterworks is a course I get to play maybe once a month because I live down south so it's a drive. I think having it set up in a different way evens the playing field for everyone. As an am I don't want to get beat because someone who just plays waterworks or Rosie has mastered it's layout. If I'm going to be beat I want it to be because they were the better player not just because they had home field advantage. So I think that is what is fun about the layout. Yes they would still have 15 holes that they will know better than most but at least it gives me a few holes for us to be on more level playing field. That's my thought anyway.

Thanks Scott for organizing things. I actually have 3 friends from Oklahoma who I got into the sport who will be driving up to play their first ever tournament. Can't wait for them to experience a DD tournament and some amazingKC disc golf. Regardless of whether you like the layout or not, KC is so lucky to have courses where this sort of thing is an option. Might as well take advantage.

^^^^^ What Peter said. dgcoursereview is a way larger forum for that kind of discussion and you will almost always find something about what you are looking for. If not, post about it and you shouldn't lack for info.

With this even being 10-4 but only one round is it a flex start or something? Just curious about the schedule of the day and how it plays out.

I'm with Kevin and Joe. Cliff Drive offers the most variety and is a lot of fun. I would also cast a vote for Lakeside Hills in Olathe. Nothing like playing on an old ball golf course. Great elevation. The Smithville suggestion is a good option too.

I played at Rosie today and the grass is getting out of control. It's above the ankles everywhere. Do you know if the city will be out to mow before this weekend? I had to look for a while for several discs that were out in the open so it will definitely slow the play down if it's not mowed.

I may come out to watch this tomorrow for a bit. What is the format and is it shotgun start or tee times? Also what time will it be starting tomorrow? Thanks!  Good luck everyone. Go WEST SIDE!

Are there different divisions available or is it everyone is in one division?

This may have been mentioned somewhere else but I didn't see it, but What courses will the B tier players be using?

Prairie Center / Changing Pins
« on: May 29, 2014, 09:40:08 PM »
Hey Tom, I know league is a bird land for a while so I'm not sure how much time you have to move pins around at PC. Since I'm living down the street from it now I would be happy to move pins from time to time if I had the keys. I usually play there once or twice a week anyway. Let me know if you would want my help. If not, no big deal. Just thought if offer to try and help you out.

Also, I noticed that hole 2 alt pin got run over. Will the city be putting a new one in anytime soon?

Looks like they just updated the Lawrence open today and there are only 40 guys signed up so far. So I think you're good. Not sure about the Pomona one.

I'm just wondering if we can know the players pack for these tournaments? Is it a voucher or a certain disc/shirt/etc? Planning on playing, but this may solidify whether a friend of mine who knows he can't win anything plays or not. Thanks guys!
