General Banter / Re: KC's Worst Hole
« on: August 03, 2011, 09:53:18 PM »
blue valley 13, yup you know you can't think of it right off the bat, it's boring and a lot of plastic is lost for nada, oh yeah and the soon to be old hole 4 at woodhenge
Are you kidding?  I love this hole.   I enjoy throwing as many drivers as I can from this tee pad.  Great view down the hill, nice moguls at the end... I think it is a fantastic hole.
I'm with you on this one Guinness. I can throw my whole bag on that hole(like a couple of others there as well). The hard one for me is #12 can't get up that hill with any good distance.

Sioux passage is a great course, but I like the Creve couer better but the grass is never mowed. The last time I played there it was the tallest grass I ever played in. You shouldn't have to worry bout that with sioux passage.

Legacy Park - Lee's Summit / Re: friday night flight
« on: May 17, 2011, 11:34:02 AM »
I just hope that the grass can be mowed and looking good at least for the Wide Open and I don't mean little tiny 10-15ft wide fairways. It's the WIDE OPEN for crying out loud! If there was a time to do it right this would be the time.

But this course is not being used in the wide open.
I'm talking bout all KC courses in general area. Hearing bout legacy mowing problems just made me think about it.

First, LSPR does a great job on the fairways (just mowed them last week).  The fairways on #3, #4, #5, #6 (Short), and #13 have been widened from last year per our request.  However, #6 Long and #8 need to be widened.

I e-mailed Scott at LSPR on Monday May 9, that the rough needed to be mowed ASAP...that players were going to quit playing the course until the rough is mowed...his response was that it would be mowed in May...hopefully it will be soon.

Jay, Boyd, and I used a weed whip on #5's green to make it 10 meters...this worked pretty well and during the last fairway mow, they mowed to the green's new boundary.  I've talked to Jay about doing this on the fairways for #6 and #8 where the weeds are so prolific...this might get the boundaries defined to where the height of the rough isn't such a big factor.
Don't LSPR have a building right in the middle of the course?? Pretty sad if they do. It's gonna be another summer of Kansas City tall grass disc golf but that's the way it goes(better then no disc golf at all). I just hope that the grass can be mowed and looking good at least for the Wide Open and I don't mean little tiny 10-15ft wide fairways. It's the WIDE OPEN for crying out loud! If there was a time to do it right this would be the time.

WYCO / Re: 2011 Kan-U-Wyco ?????
« on: January 22, 2011, 10:53:25 AM »
After the boy scouts had some huge camp out at WYCO during the summer. I was talking to some guy out there about destroying the course using it for a parking lot for hundreds of cars after it had been raining. But he pretty much told me so what it's going to be a bunch of soccer fields anyway come spring 2011. Tell me this is not true??

you hit the nail on the head with EWING park. Thats what I am talking about. Thats the kind of course I like to play(or anything like that). Gotta hit up EWING whenever I get up that way just so I can play the back 9. I like it so much I just play the back 9 twice to get in 18. If there is any other courses like this one please let me know really would like to give them a try.

I have been playing other courses such as rosedale and WYCO lately but just wanted to get a shot at some of those long locations I've been seeing on the tee signs at shawnee. Thanks for the info.

Cliff Drive / Re: Sunday Drive at Cliff Drive - August 1st
« on: August 03, 2010, 12:34:34 PM »
I could understand that but if I already had to throw a 600,700,800ft spraying it all over the fairway the last thing I want to do is be accurate with an approach.

Fixed.
who said anything about spraying it all over the fairway?? You have to throw it accurate all over the fairway ;D :D ;D ;)

You as well miss the entire point.  I am so glad all of you only see things one way.   Balance has nothing to do with a 200ft hole.
The place has elevation everywhere you throw down hill,up hill, over valleys some holes have hidden baskets. What balance do you want???

More balance between lefty and righty holes.

The OBs are almost ALL down the right side of the hole, making it even more righty friendly.

More deuceable holes.  Right now, only 2 and 6 (if it's short) are deuceable for most folks, and even 2 is questionable for most folks.  5 is only deuceable for some folks who throw 400+, or throw in a 100-footer. (Yes, I know it's 335', but it's uphill, and plays like a 400' power hyzer)

Most baskets ar BV are in the wide open with very few obstacles around the pin.  Precision upshots would be better.

Most of these observations were echoed by John Houck when he did his walk-through before Worlds.

These are just a few observations.
So you would like some trees around the baskets. I could understand that but if I already had to throw a 600,700,800ft hole the last thing I want to see when I get close is a tree blocking the basket
