K-Mont in all due respect I don't see anything in my public post saying anything about who's job it is to oversee posts.

Fair enough, I inferred that you implied that. By saying you felt posts are "a reflection upon the club" and that said posts were "smelly" to you, I inferred that you were implying some sort of control should be in place to police said posts. That duty would fall upon someone and that someone would be me or one of the other forum administrators.

But I do think the wheels are turning toward some sort of membership role based forum at some point. Time will tell. Sounds like an off-season project to me.

No matter where anyone is allowed to post it's a reflection upon the club. there's no indication whether said poster is a member and honestly it's still smelly to me no matter what.

I disagree. The club is comprised of individuals. It isn't our job to control every post down to the potentially perceived slight.

You guys crack me up!

As a staunch advocate of free speech as well as one of the primary moderators of the forum I think this has been a great airing of grievances.

I do on occasion PM someone and ask them to tone it down, especially if it appears to be hateful, personal or just blatantly offensive. All three of these areas is what it took to get one individual banned from the forum, many years ago I might add. No one else has ever even come close. Cade said it best, change the channel if you don't like the programming. These are individuals posting their personal responses. If someone from a parks department, TV station or perhaps a radio station like say... 96.5 The Buzz, got on here and started reading I'm sure they would be able to rationalize the simple fact that the posts they are seeing are from individuals and don't represent the club at large. We are well over 400 members strong these days and the rabble-rousers on this forum number in the five to ten range. Does it get out of hand? Depends on what that means to you.

But... I've seen some things lately that have approached blatant personal attacks. If that continues to happen, be warned, you will most likely receive a stern talking to via PM from somebody. Otherwise... lighten up fer cryin' out loud.....

FYI - We still get several new registrations on the forum each week and the posts I see from those new users are without a doubt disc golf related 100% of the time. From lost discs or other personal items to what course should I play when I come to town, this is the place they come to. I suspect most of them are smart enough to separate the wheat from the chaff.... Cheers!!

We made a public request to everyone a long time ago asking them to at least include their full name in their tag line and it worked to some degree. New users still create screen names but a lot of people have their name listed now. Perhaps we could include something in the registration process that indicates that they won't be approved unless they include their actual name.

Just my opinion here.....  Knowing Doug as I do I suspect his jabs are meant to elicit a reaction but not necessarily piss anyone off. And it seems to me that Steve means well, although I've never met him and I think he should join the club with as much energy as he appears to have and his love for the game.

But more to Nate's point... in a discussion I saw elsewhere it was suggested that the bulk of the forum be changed to a members only format so only one or two areas would allow non-members to post and the rest would require the user to be a dues paid member. This idea has been floated around several times over the years but lately it is beginning to look like a pretty good idea.

Minis......have a mini basket on the back of the horse
That would be amazing.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of a mini basket that's not a hundred bucks? I'm about to just say F it and make my own out of a 5-gallon pickle bucket, an old lamp stand, and some decorative chain.

Dick Parker has made some really nice baskets. Perhaps he had a pattern or plans he might be willing to share. I have a PVC framed mini basket I bought at DGW years ago that has the basket part made out of glow-in-the-dark ultimate discs and has tiny metal chains. I can't remember the manufacturer's name but it was less that $60 and has held up really well. Not sure if it is still available though. Seems like it's called the Mini-Sota Pole Hole but that's just from memory.

And to avoid too much thread drift, it would probably be plenty light enough and easy to attach to a saddle for the purposes Steve suggested. And I like the idea of tossing lightweight minis to the kids. They'd have fun with those and might investigate further to find out their purpose. Maybe a bunch of minis with Tootsie-Rolls taped to the middle so they get a toy and a treat. Could get pricey though. Minis tend to be about a buck each.

Very cart friendly! One of the few courses I always use a cart on if I have it with me.

As far as I know league is still on. I know two guys from Leavenworth that are planning to be there this evening. Enjoy!

People that have known me a while know about the Griffin. For those that don't....

The Griffin - It was manufactured briefly by Innova in the mid 90s then was pulled off the market. It was originally billed as "unbreakable under normal circumstances." It's a "meathook" according to doc. An overstable, smaller diameter midrange but was originally considered a driver. It compares to the Gateway Demon but is more overstable than a Drone. I can throw it into a gale-force headwind and it won't turn over. It is an essential part of my bag and I've carried one since 1995. I use it mostly for underhanded approaches but also use it to spike-hyzer over tall objects. I still have the first one I ever bought and have purchased several more over the years off of Ebay for at least twice what they used to sell for new.
