Tournaments / Re: Wide Open 2016

Nova mentioned me yelling at the crowds instead of a PA system. I did have one. Sunday was a crappy day for me. I came under an abrupt illness that shut me down for most of the morning/day. I worked through it slowly. At the moment we should have been setting up the PA, it was beginning to rain and I was just coming around to life again. I could barely see straight and I had not eaten since the morning breakfast that did me in. I didn't get my crew assembled and I didn't even know what to do with the rain coming down. I didn't know if it would last and I wasn't going to risk borrowed equipment that I had no room in my budget to replace. Things happen and that day everything seemed to happen at once. Sorry about that too.

A simple solution to this problem of rain is to have a megaphone as a backup to the PA system.  I was at a boy scout camp with about 300 people today and they had a $10 megaphone that worked great.  A good megaphone is about $30.   Anyway, just an idea.  No complaints.

I have volunteered as a spotter a couple of times and I want to say that the everyone treats spotters like royalty. Plus, you see some amazing things like McBeth throwing a horrible shot - shocking. Of course he still pared. I saw Gibson have a bad shot and fall on his butt and slap the  ground - imagine your two year throwing a fit.  Immaturity at its finest.

It's cool when top pros like McBeth thank you.  So just go and volunteer!

Great work everyone.  Proud to be KC!

What a course.  Protected trees on narrow lanes.  I believe hole 3 has 2 dedicated paths that are manicured.  Sweet

BTW - I am holding $100 a hole skin challenge.  You must be rated in the 700's.  Beginners are welcomed.

Can you make this sticky?

I made my comments about this on my facebook page...

I hope it was at least a private message

Scores for open.  Previous link only had am scores.

The available beer will be a free will donation.  Whatever you feel is appropriate.

The decision for this was not made lightely.  The discussion lasted over one month.  As all decisions, sometimes they are changed.

We should charge for the Chum Rum Balls.  I believe one rum ball is the alcohol equivalent of drinking 5 beers.  I might be underestimating.

I don't think we can get our disc back.  Those disc are sunk.  BUT let's freeze the pond year round so we don't lose anymore.

Will there be maps for Blue Valley?  I get lost out there.  How about guides?   Even better than maps.  Can I have my caddy walk Blue Valley before and take notes?

Can my caddy drink beer?

What?  ??? Is it too soon to bring that back up... 8)

Did Tank convince you to start this thread?

I LOVE my Ice Bowl Mako.  I lost it at Olathe Lake.  $10 for safe return.  Dick, what are the chances that DGW has some?

My thought was to call it "Sweet Land" and then asked where you were going to play you would respond with "Sweet Land of Liberty"

...and always carry a rulebook with you, or download it on your phone (and don't forget to read and understand it). This won't be the only time you are confronted with uncertainty on the course from a TD or another player.

My rule book is reading what Jack writes on the forum.  It is also more entertaining.

I am not b!^ching here - I save that for when I am behind someones back -  :-X I don't understand how a player can deny cash so he can keep his am rating?  Not trying to complain, but  I just don't understand the rule.
