General Banter / Quick question about Raymore course
« on: August 30, 2019, 07:59:10 PM »
Last time I played there, they were finishing that new building on the front nine. I haven't played there since. Have they relocated the holes that were next to the new building?

General Banter / Help! Help! I'm sweating to death LOL
« on: July 14, 2019, 08:42:19 PM »
Have any of you had any luck with shirts that do not get sopping wet with sweat after you've played just a handful of holes in this humidity?  I've tried a few of those shirts that are supposed to wick away sweat, but they are no better for me.
Please help.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

General Banter / A possible interesting new discussion thread:

With all the new disc models being released as well as new disc manufacturers, I would LOVE to see a new "In The Bag" discussion thread. I would find this interesting and informative.
What say you?

If you take small dogs to Heritage, please keep them on a leash. Coyotes LOVE eating small dogs.

General Banter / Possible private course still possible

A good friend of mine purchased 40 plus acres in Easton, Kansas.  The land is PRIME to set up a great disc golf course.  We have tentatively marked a few holes.  He has a lot of other things to do which is a priority before they decide to put in a disc golf course.  I've got my fingers crossed.  Some of the holes could be epic.  It won't be a long course, but very wooded and technically challenging.  Lots of elevation changes, and a few water holes possibly mixed in.
Anyway we start clearing some of the voluminous undergrowth and deadfall soon.  It's a JUNGLE right now.
I'll keep you posted.  It could turn out to be a gem!

A friend just bought a 40 acre retreat and wants me to help design a "world class" course, if the land would accomodate it.  I can't say anything about it, for now.  We will walk the land in May.  He is doing other things out there first, so I expect this to be a long process.  The Google map looks intriguing, to say the least.  Lots of elevation changes, several potential water holes, including ponds and a stream.
It also could be a place I could retire to in a few years, and walk out my front door and tee off!

looks like the trash along Mission Road was also reduced quite a bit.

What is everybody's favorite: putter, midrange and driver?  Weights?

My band rehearsal is right up the street.  I see that garbage all the time these days.  When I was coordinator at PC for many years I was anal about cleaning up the course, sometimes several times a month I would go on a weekend and just clean up areas, especially along Hole #3 where the neighbors threw all kinds of garbage into the pine trees including a CAR SEAT.  I know the disc golf bags have gotten bigger over the years, but I kinda doubt anybody carries a CAR SEAT in their bag.  So I threw it back in a neighbor's yard, being that it wouldn't fit in a trash can.  I almost got into a fight with an idiot who was drinking beer up on a deck.  Needless to say I never saw the car seat thrown back into the pine trees...

That garbage alongside Mission Road is kind of a disgrace.  I might take it upon myself someday to start cleaning it up.  Maybe that will inspire others to help out.  I doubt the city does anything about it...

As one drives up the big hill on Mission Road to get to Rosedale Park, that steep slope on the right side is just covered with litter.  Part of the Down Under and Hole 18 on the upper course is right above all this trash.  I would imagine that the majority of this garbage is thrown out of vehicles, but is it possible to call for a work day for us to clean this mess up, perhaps with the help of the city???  It's kind of a bad reflection on SOMEBODY.

General Banter / As some of you know, my CD is finally DONE! YAY!
« on: February 17, 2016, 01:17:43 PM »
Sample tune:

All original tunes.  I sing, play bass and harmonica, wrote and produced the entire CD.  I got fortunate and got a truly great saxophonist, Ernest Melton, on it.  12 tunes, now all over the internet, including Amazon and iTunes.

Thanks for listening!

I've also been playing more golf this past year, regaining strength from my illness.  It's a battle, but disc golf is great exercise, and I hope to play some league events this coming year.

Barter Town / I STILL have some primo discs for sale...

...including some rare collector discs.  Send me your email address and I'll send you the latest list.  Thanks.

You're going to LOVE the disc golf here.  One BBQ place I love is Bandana's right at Noland Rd and I-70 in Independence.  I hope it's still open. The dark meat chicken dishes are heavenly.  Every BBQ place is different.  Everybody has their favorites, just like the disc golf courses.

Shawnee Mission Park is a fine course.  Waterworks is world class as well as Swope Park.  If you need somebody to show you Shawnee Mission email me  I just live up the street from there.

I appreciate your support.  I was lucky to get Ernest Melton on saxophone.  World class sax player.
