General Banter / KC - STL Comparison

Since I've moved out to STL from KC, I've definitely missed the courses in KC.  As well as the community.

Here are some things that I've noticed:

Forum Activity - Not very active on the STLDG Club forums, unlike here where it always seems hoppin'.

Courses - I think I got spoiled living close to Water Works.  I've enjoyed the courses out here that I've done, but nothing seems to come close to the courses I've played in KC.

Tee Signs - Most of the courses here that I've noticed, only show Hole #, Par, and distance.   No map of pin placements

Next Hole/Tee - After finishing most holes in KC, the next tee pad isn't too far away or there is an indicator of where the next one is.  Seems like I'm spending a lot of time trying to find the next hole out here.  This could be because some of the courses out here are first times for me.

Course Management - I can't complain on this.  All that I've been to have been fairly well kept and mowed.  Litter free.


I haven't had much of a chance to play w/ many people out here, but it always seemed that any course I went to in KC there were people I could join or they could join my group.  I'm always looking for better players than I am so that I can step up my game.  If you know anyone out here, I'd love to get with them and play a round or two.

Note:   The above mentioned are just my observations.

General Banter / Driving help

I can lay a solid line on a Sidewinder, but lately I've been trying to achieve more than 300'-350' on my drive. In doing this, I figured I need a high speed disc, and after some reading, I picked up a few Bosses(2 star and 1 blizzard) to throw around and try to get used to. Since I've been throwing them, they've always hyzered on me, and cannot get them to fly straight. If I try to S-Curve them, I'm twisting my body more than feels comfortable, yet still getting the same "D" as my Sidewinder.

In summary, I think I need to work on the hip/shoulder rotation to add that "snap" at release. I have been working on that, but seem like I'm failing. Any tips and pointers would be much appreciated.



Note: I know "pure D" is different than "golf D". I'm trying to incorporate both.

I've seen the KCFDC T-Shirt on discgolfworld.com, but when I went up to ask, they did not have them.   Is there anyway to get one?  I take a large and would really love to get one.

Found and Lost / Lost Discs at WW

Has anyone contacted the Water company or whatever that place is south of WW to see if they have picked up any of the discs.     If anyone has would you happen to know their number or had any luck w/ them?  I know I've lost one back in July on one of the 2 holes back there.

General Banter / Toughing the Cold Weather

Was curious how you all prepare for playing in cold weather?   Under Armor?  Hot Hands?  Heated socks?  Due to the cold, I find myself playing less.  What can I do to better prepare myself to have an enjoyable round while its cold/freezing outside?

I was wondering if any of you could give me a comparison on drivers.   Currently I've been throwing a star sidwinder, and have been looking for a Gateway driver that is of equal/better comparison to it.   I've looked at disc flight charts, and am still a bit confused.   Any suggestions/incite?

Was curious if there was a way to get discs made with custom printings.   I have an idea for a design on a disc i'd love.  I guess another alternative would be, is there a way to remove the prints on discs?  Just curious.

Found and Lost / Black/Red Champion Sidewinder - Rosedale

While shooting around 10,  I managed to hyzer my disc like crazy.   It is in the woods near 11's tee off.    If you happen to find a black rimmed red center Champion Sidewinder, please call or pm me.
