Found and Lost / Lost: Twisted Flyer PD2 hole 9 lakeside
« on: September 04, 2015, 12:40:46 am »
My drive went right, over the trees and mini swamp, into the tall grass. 2nd disc I've lost there. Would really like to have this one back. It's white with blue and orange circles.

Lakeside Hills / League moving to prairie center
« on: August 02, 2015, 09:10:40 pm »
If my memory serves me right, it was announced that Monday league returns to prairie center this Monday Aug 3rd. Is that correct? I haven't seen an announcement about it on the forum.

My original post was deleted for some reason. So here it is again with some different terminology. Some friends and I are organizing a little event/cash round on Sunday afternoon.

General Banter / Cicadas
« on: June 07, 2015, 02:56:44 pm »
Me and some buddies played both Olathe courses yesterday and the afternoon round at lakeside was like nothing I've ever experienced. The Cicadas we're so loud the whole round that our ears were ringing in the car afterward. We had to be standing next to each other to hear. That wasn't even the bad part. The entire round we were basically being attacked by them! I had to carry a disc in my hand the whole time to slap them away. There were times we ran down the fairway trying to get away from swarms that came out of the trees. It was just crazy. I'm curious if it's like this at the other area courses too?
It's hard to throw a disc when you have these big ole bugs flying into your face while you reach back. What a crazy round.

Barter Town / Prodiscus backpack bag for sale.
« on: June 03, 2015, 12:49:17 am »
I have my old Prodiscus backpack for sale. It's still in good shape. It's definitely seen a lot of use but has a lot of life left in it. It's royal blue. Holds 30+ discs and tons of stuff. It's a great bag. Looking for $110 local. I'll send pics upon request. Feel free to text me with questions. 913-953-2171

Found and Lost / Lost in Olathe
« on: June 03, 2015, 12:46:19 am »
I normally don't post lost discs on here but I've lost a few in the last week that I'm really hurting from. Last Monday may 25 I believe,  right before league at Lakeside I lost a dark red c-line PD2. Stamp is mostly worn off. I was on hole 9. It went right and either ended in the tall grass or in the little swamp. It was my favorite disc in my bag so I'd love to get it back.
A couple weeks before that I stupidly left two Kings laying on hole 18 at PC. These are probably a lost cause but it would be great to get them back. A pink misprint and a yellow one with AP dyed on the top.
Ill buy whoever finds any of these a beer. Or give you a different disc from my stash. Thanks!

General Banter / GBO special beer!
« on: April 22, 2015, 08:38:22 pm »
For all those who are going to the GBO and enjoy a good beer, Dixon Jowers posted this on Facebook. "No beer in the players pack but Radius Brewing will be releasing the Glass Blown Ale in special co-branded glasses on Wednesday!"
I love how much the city of emporia gets into this! Can't wait!

Lakeside Hills / Final Olathe Glow of the season! Monday 3/9/15
« on: March 05, 2015, 09:32:00 pm »
Tom announced that this Monday 3/9/15 will be the last Random Draw Dubs of the season and it will be happening at LAKESIDE (aka Birdland)! We draw for partners at 6 sharp. Sign up ahead of time. Cost is $5 plus an optional $1 ace fund. Looks like perfect weather! It will probably be a day glow round as we gain an hour of sunlight but it will be fun nonetheless. Hope to see lots of people out there!

Prairie Center / Glow at Lakeside
« on: February 06, 2015, 10:15:29 pm »
Hey Tom, Just wondering if Glow will stay at PC all season or if we will move to Lakeside at all? I think it would be a lot of fun to play glow there. Didn't know if that was in the plan.

Prairie Center / 1/26/15 GLOW!
« on: January 26, 2015, 12:39:43 am »
Just a reminder to everyone that random dubs glow is still happening at prairie center every Monday night. Weather should be fairly nice this week for this time of year. We had a nice night last week and only had 3 teams. Its kinda sad. We were reminiscing about how just a few years ago PC glow would have 20+ people even in bad weather.  We'd love to see more people show up! Draw for teams at 6 sharp. $5 full payout plus optional $1 ace fund. Hope to see you all there!

Prairie Center / Glow 12/29

Just wanted to confirm that Glow is happening and see if it's at PC still? I heard someone mention it might be moving to Lakeside.

Found and Lost / Lost TeeBird and Gator in Olathe
« on: September 17, 2014, 04:57:37 pm »
Bad week of losing discs. Lost a 11x yellow champ teebird on hole 17 at prairie center Monday night. Must have just left it laying there. Also lost a blue champ gator at lakeside on hole 12. It was up in a tree. Went back to get it the next day and someone had already gotten it down. If you have spares of these and would want to trade them to me let me know. I have quite a bit of plastic to trade.

Prairie Center / Do I Make You Thorny Baby?
« on: August 23, 2014, 11:11:50 am »
I spent about two hours removing as many thorns from the trees on hole 12 at PC. I had around 15-20 bucket fulls of thorns that I dumped. Hopefully that makes that hole a bit safer for Old Settlers. I would encourage everyone to still exercise caution around the trees. There were so many thorns I'm sure I missed some. They are also hard to see when they fall on the ground so watch your footing around the trees just in case. If I have time next week I'll go back out and try to do some weed eating and a little more cleanup.

Found and Lost / Lost Saint Pro at PC #2
« on: August 20, 2014, 12:02:52 am »
Left a yellow Saint Pro there on Sunday afternoon. I was playing with Harold B and a big group of guys. We threw several on hole 2 at the end of our round and I never got this one. Didn't know if one of the guys picked it up or if it got left laying there somewhere. I miss it already. I think it just had AP on it. No number. It was a misprint Saint Pro.

Cliff Drive / Cliff Drive History
« on: July 26, 2014, 12:51:37 am »
On Thursday my wife and I celebrated our anniversary by visiting some KC spots tha we hadn't been to before. I finally got to your the boulevard brewery and taste some unreleased selections ( they have a really good spiced saison in the works. Just FYI). Then we drove over to Cliff Drive to visit the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall. I had never been over there except to play the course. I already love cliff drive course because it feels old and has a lot of character. But after touring the Robert E Long Mansion and hearing the history surrounding the park and that neighborhood it made me love it even more. Being  from Olathe all I really see most days is suburb life with very little character and history. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the history lesson so much. If none of you have visited this museum you need to do it! I guess it used to be a science museum but now they are in the process of restoring it to it's original glory. The tour was free and very educational and interesting. I know the rep cliff drive gets is that it's in the ghetto but I no longer view it this way. This course shares a very rich history as part of a Kansas City area that seems forgotten but is very cool. If you are bored some day and aren't out playing I highly encourage anyone who enjoys history, or architecture, or just hearing about how cool our city is to go check this place out. You can find details online.
