Cliff Drive / Cliff Drive History
« on: July 26, 2014, 12:51:37 AM »
On Thursday my wife and I celebrated our anniversary by visiting some KC spots tha we hadn't been to before. I finally got to your the boulevard brewery and taste some unreleased selections ( they have a really good spiced saison in the works. Just FYI). Then we drove over to Cliff Drive to visit the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall. I had never been over there except to play the course. I already love cliff drive course because it feels old and has a lot of character. But after touring the Robert E Long Mansion and hearing the history surrounding the park and that neighborhood it made me love it even more. Being  from Olathe all I really see most days is suburb life with very little character and history. Maybe that's why I enjoyed the history lesson so much. If none of you have visited this museum you need to do it! I guess it used to be a science museum but now they are in the process of restoring it to it's original glory. The tour was free and very educational and interesting. I know the rep cliff drive gets is that it's in the ghetto but I no longer view it this way. This course shares a very rich history as part of a Kansas City area that seems forgotten but is very cool. If you are bored some day and aren't out playing I highly encourage anyone who enjoys history, or architecture, or just hearing about how cool our city is to go check this place out. You can find details online.

Prairie Center / Changing Pins
« on: May 29, 2014, 09:40:08 PM »
Hey Tom, I know league is a bird land for a while so I'm not sure how much time you have to move pins around at PC. Since I'm living down the street from it now I would be happy to move pins from time to time if I had the keys. I usually play there once or twice a week anyway. Let me know if you would want my help. If not, no big deal. Just thought if offer to try and help you out.

Also, I noticed that hole 2 alt pin got run over. Will the city be putting a new one in anytime soon?

Bag Tags / More tags in stock?
« on: May 06, 2014, 11:04:14 PM »
Someone at league told me there were more tags ordered recently. Is this true? Where and when are they available? I need to come pay my dues and get a tag. They look awesome. I'm excited to get one.

General Banter / Kansas City Here I Come
« on: April 16, 2014, 02:52:52 PM »
It's been a while since I posted on the board, but after 3 years of living in Oklahoma City my wife and I are moving back to KC! I can't tell you how much I have missed the KCFDC  and Kansas City disc golf in general. Moving away makes you realize how good Disc Golfers have it in KC. I'm excited to get back to playing leagues, tournaments, volunteering and anything else I can do. We move back on April 30th and we'll be living less than a mile from both Olathe courses so I'm happy about that. Hopefully I will see you guys (especially the ThrOlatheans) at leagues soon.

Is there still league tonight at Wyco? Or was it just for the doubles last week?

General Banter / Farewell KC
« on: June 15, 2011, 11:08:25 AM »
To my beloved KC disc golf community, Unfortunately I will no longer be a part of this amazing group. I have accepted a job in Oklahoma City and will be moving at the end of June. I just wanted to say thank you to all those who have made disc golf in KC such an important part of my life. I am forever hooked. I started playing about 5 years ago and now that I have gotten more involved and been able to see a bit of what other cities have to offer, it's clear that I have been very blessed to have lived and played in KC on all these wonderful courses. I'll be sure to come back and visit as often as possible. Hopefully I can continue to improve and eventually come back and compete with some of KC's best.
A special thanks to Tom Butler and all the Olathe crew, who have been a blast to play with almost every week the last 4 years. I learned a ton from playing with you guys.
If any of you comes down to Oklahoma City, hit me up to play a round. I will actually be living in Bethany which is just NW of OKC. I'm about 5 min from Dolese Youth Park disc golf course, which I am told is one of the best courses in that area. So I'm excited for that.

Again thanks to all those I had the pleasure of playing with and getting to know. I hope to at least make it out to a few more leagues before I leave. But if I don't see you there, hopefully I can catch you at a tournament during the year. God Bless you guys!

General Banter / Disc Golf DVD's
« on: February 04, 2011, 09:40:56 PM »
I don't know if there are too many guys out there who own any disc golf DVD's, but I am curious if you do happen to have some what your favorites might be. I have several of the Clash DVD's and a few of the worlds DVD's. There are a lot out there of good tournament coverage or just random rounds. Looking to increase my collection and just wondered if there are any suggestions.

Found and Lost / Lost Light Blue Grenade stamp Destroyer @ Ice Bowl
« on: January 31, 2011, 05:14:59 PM »
Lost one of my favorite discs on Saturday. I guess I just left it somewhere. It is light blue with a grenade dyed on it.  Has my name and number on it. It didn't get turned in so I'm guessing I wont see it again unfortunately. I was hoping  that seeing as we were all there together, people would be willing to turn it in. I will reward whoever turns it in with a disc or some beer. Hopefully returning 2 discs I found this week will result in some good karma.

Found and Lost / 2 discs lost at young park
« on: August 15, 2010, 06:27:34 PM »
Played YP for the first time today. Loved it but my buddy didn't have great luck. Lost 2 discs. 1 yellow champ wraith in the water on 7 about 10 feet off the shore next to the basket. Went in but didn't find it. The other disc was a orange ESP force on hole 10. Went into the trees on the right after the water but couldn't find it. Hopefully they both have his name, Josh engle, if you find them call him or pm me. Thanks!

General Banter / League Payout Breakdown
« on: July 15, 2010, 02:22:32 PM »
I know with all the talk of Double $$$ league night the topic of league payout has come up. I am just wondering if someone can list the payout structure of each division. I keep hearing that Am's get paid out 100%, but there must be something I'm not understanding, because when I add up the payouts compared to the $4 per player it never adds up to the same. I would like to see how it works in Masters and Open also. I'm not complaining about payouts, I just think it would be good for everyone to have a clear understanding of how much goes where and to who.
