The first Tuesday round of the season took place last night. It was a pretty close game between Tony and Kevin for most of the round until the last few holes when the wheels came off for me with an ugly OB and a couple of bogies while Tony got the birdies. Adam and Rick kept it close the entire round until the winner between them was decided on the last hole.
Tony Todd - 53 Kevin Montgomery - 58 Rick Rose - 67 (3 Birdies on the night though) Adam Richter - 68
Next Tuesday 5:30. In May we move to a 6pm tee. Bring your bag tags and join us.
Gave the course at Clover Dell a full 19 hole checkup Friday then went back for another crack at the front nine. The pond on #10 is full up making it a much more difficult hole than we saw at the Bluebird in September. And the pond on #14 is almost out of its banks. Now is an excellent time to throw in Sedalia. No tall rough and everything's brush-hogged. There's a new maintenance guy out there that I think will do a better job of keeping it mowed but just in case, now is a great time to get it before it gets woolly.
Here's a couple of shots of the ponds from Friday.
FYI - Due to the Missouri Bluebird Series State Championships taking place at Clover Dell Park this Saturday, the 6th, the course will be closed all day from 9am to approximately 5pm. If you are in the area and not playing please consider lending a hand to spot. Having a spotter on several holes should help with speed of play considerably.
Also, I have talked to the parks department and though I haven't been out there yet I was told that they are giving the entire course a good mow and removing the remaining brush piles that were still near a couple of holes. The place should be looking pretty good.
It is plain silver stainless steel with a jester logo. I think I left it on hole #16 at OP league tonight in the dark. Reward! Been using it for over nine years. Almost lost it several times before. Hopefully it will come back this time too. Good times at OP for sure!
Last Tuesday a five-some started but I had to cut out early. It was obvious from the beginning that Andy was having a good night. He went on to shoot nine birdies and two bogies for a new course record seven under - 47.
We're shooting for 5:30 or so today, Wednesday 9/5. Come join us and see if you can get more birdies and or less bogies than Andy...
Last week results:
Andy Jewett - 47 Tony Todd - 54 Sean - 57 Pete - 64 Kevin - DNF (had to hit the road on the way to the Tim Selinske US Masters - Now that was a good time!)
#16 was stolen sometime within the last couple of days. The lock was cut with bolt cutters and left laying nearby. It's a practically new Mach III with the #16 on it.
There's a special place in hell for mf'rs that steal disc golf baskets.
In the woods left of #9 basket at Cliff Drive. It has Peter S and a phone number in it but might be hard to read. It's a newbie's first disc and he'd love to have it back if anyone runs across it.
Five made it out for a round at Clover Dell today, May 6th:
Dick Parker - 53 Bryan Gaskill - 53 Loomis - 54 K-Mont - 61 Minna - 68
It's still pretty wooly. I'm working with the parks department on the mowing. Otherwise we had a great round and everyone seemed to agree the course was fun and challenging. We only left three behind in the water too.
My first daylight round at Old Pike and I'm kicking myself for not getting there sooner. I can't report much on the round though. All I can tell you is this... -14 won and there were two -11s. I was on a card with Billy Nelson and his partner Mike (didn't catch his last name). They threw a -4. My partner, Ash Lawrence, and I threw a -6 and Brenda and Utz were on the card but I forgot what they shot. Fun league! I'll be back....
Today is the start of Tuesday rounds at USM. We'll be meeting by #1 around 5pm and teeing off sometime after that. let me know if you are interested in joining us today or any other Tuesday this season. There will be at least three of us today so far and bag tags are in play.
