Tournaments / Not so random birthday doublez results
« on: March 16, 2015, 01:46:51 PM »
If 4 tourneys in one town on one weekend weren't enough there happened to be 5th that materialized yesterday on a fabulous day at water works park. The Not Quite Annual Not So Random Killa-Ho Dubs. Just a little birthday round for ides of march bday buddies team Killa-Ho; myself and the man the moustache ed Holbrook. We ended up with 21 players who enjoyed a great day of good friends a great lunch grilled up by chef GI Dave and good times had by all.

Special tourney rules were in effect. All rules and pairings decided by killian and holbrook. Sobriety discouraged. Drunkest person can't keep score (called the killian rule). If you got it share it. Maybe some more i forgot.

Bird Father Andy Lewis and Sweet Will Mersman took home the win and the fat pool of 23 ones. Yeah that's right folks 10 % added cash. Lots of laughs and maniacal cackling were heard around the course for several hours. Some pretty good shots were thrown here and there as well. Shot of the day wasn't really a shot but had both cards rolling. Andy is standing by 9's tee box swinging a big ass stick while we were teeing of on 8. You could tell he was just begging for us too send one at him. Steve c. Was last guy on the card and happily obliged him. Turned one over right at the tee box and Andy creamed that buzz like it was slow pitch softball. Probably a little flippier now but we were laughing all the way down the hill.

Thanks to everyone that came and brought something. We had a ton of food that was so good nobody needed any ketchup or mustard or mayo. We had a great time and hope everyone did as well.

Swope / Swope Park Shootout of the Century
« on: October 06, 2011, 07:48:33 PM »
BIg card playing tonight, just teed off on 17 and walking away from tee when we are all surprised by a rapid popping on gregory just east of the entrance. Took us a second to realize they were gunshots, heard people screaming and yelling. We are all kind of squatting down on 17's fairway when an suv kind of slowly drives across whatever road the entrance to swope is. It drives onto the grass right beside that little set of bleachers by the field closest to gregory. I really thought whoever was driving was shot the way it was rolling to a stop.

I'm sitting there watching this scene thinking wow that was some crazy shiz, when 4 dudes with braids bail out of the suv and start unloading. I would have to say anywhere from 30 -50 shots were fired. By then we had all tucked tail and were croutch running the hell out of there. It was over in maybe 30 seconds i'm not sure. Then we saw the dudes who were definetely out of bullets running off into the neighborhood behind the fields across from hole 4. It when from wow was that a shoot out, kind of cool, to this is definetely not cool is everybody still standing. We were all kind of standing around looking at each other in a daze, saying holy effing shti.

Couple of minutes earlier and we are all putting on 16 basket out by the road, would not have been a good place to be. They had to have been firing right across the downward slope past 16's basket. Never gonna look at that hole the same.

3 guys were teeing off on 16, we had a 7-some, and quite a few people were in or around the parking lot. So the park was decently busy. By the time i left police and fire men were every where.

Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy.
Glad no golfers were hit, but the swope park legacy continues.

Swope / Swope League, 8-31
« on: August 31, 2010, 10:40:18 PM »
Another six pack out for a breezy night at swope. Played a single card since the short tees move along pretty fast, but ended up a little late in the dusk so will be starting a little earlier next week.

Suzette stepped up and almost cashed with the boys. Missing out on some money by one shot.

I hit the number plate on 2 warming up, thought nobody even saw it but a couple of casuals on the next hole got me a little fired up for it. No other close calls on another night of ace runs from the short tees. Highlight of the night was suzette canning a putt from 75 feet or so in front of about 12-15 people.

Killian, Lee - 48
Stiles, Mark - 53
Nance, Suzette - 54
Lyon, Jason - 54
Fortson, Fred - 56
Hart, Edwin - 57

Swope / Swope League, 8-24
« on: August 25, 2010, 04:30:49 PM »
Another great night for disc golf at swope and the course was pretty busy with casuals, including a monster card of about 12. Only six of us showed up for the league though, but we did not let that stop us. Many ace runs were to be had this fine evening.

Since there were so many casuals i decided it would be a great night to not observe any mando's. Since i was in a rule breakin mood, no obs were observed that weren't of the concrete variety.

We threw from the short tees yet again, and will continue to do so until the ace pot is hit. If that doesn't encourage some more people to come out then nothing will. It's almost up to $300 now.

Killian, Lee    46
Cashen, Pete   47
Rivard, Jay     47
Lyons, Jason    52
Corbin, Kevin    55
Guinn, Clint     61

Both cards flew through the round in about 90 min. I kind of slow-rolled pete and jay when they told me they shot 47s. I let them start talking about how they were gonna play off when my mind slowly, very slowly, realized i had them beat. I was erratic through the round but finished with 5 straight dueces, and shot a 20 on the front nine. Scores could have been much lower, but a lot of ace runs turned into pars.

Next week tee off still at 6, but we will be on the pads ready to go at 6.
Short tees in effect.

Tournaments / OKie Doubles - this weekend
« on: August 25, 2010, 03:38:56 PM »
Just in case anybody didn't know about this and needed a reason to get the hell out of town this weekend.

At "The Lodge" outside of pawhuska. Google has it at about 4 hours.

Private courses (2) supposedly in pretty good shape.

4 rounds, 3 best shot & 1 alt.

Most people will be camping, i am assuming it is free but not sure.

I'll be sandbagging in advanced if anybody wants to join in.

Swope / Swope League, 8-17
« on: August 17, 2010, 11:32:12 PM »
Swope League makes a comeback after a couple of weeks of noshows. Got a little drizzle early on, but turned out to be a pleasant surprise of a night. It was nice to go a round without worrying if my fat old dog is gonna have a heat stroke.

Played the short tees and with only a few holes in a long pin placement pretty much every hole was birdieable. Lots of ace runs led to lots of pars on the shorties though.

Killian, Lee - 45
Walker, Caleb - 48
Timko, Chris - 51
Lyons, Jason - 54
Dreiling, Jesse - 57
Hays, Matt - 64

Jackson, Amanda - 52. Her first round under par i believe, very nice  :)
Nance, Suzette - 58
Susan ??? - 62

Swope / Swope league 8-3 tonight, recently mowed
« on: August 03, 2010, 01:01:18 PM »
Swope league tonight, lots of short placements out there. which means i will be donating more than likely.

Recently mowed late last week, although in some spots it looks like a third grader was driving.

Wonder why it takes so long to get the courses mowed, well it may have something to do with the crews milking the hell out of the jobs. It took the better part of three days for them to mow it.

Give me an eighteen pack and a set of keys and i'll knock that sh*t out in a day ;D. It won't look anymore half ass i promise.

Now the mower on the other hand no promises there :P

General Banter / Dogs in Leagues
« on: May 26, 2010, 01:30:22 AM »
How does everybody feel about somebody on your card having a dog during a league.

I have been a daytime casual golfer here in KC for 5 years or so due to my nighttime work schedule, so i have played pretty much just me and my dog. My dog is older now and i just can't bear to leave him at home when i go play. I'm only talking about single round local stuff here, weekend multi-round tourneys are a different story.

I have been hesitant to play in some of the busier leagues because i do not want to piss anyone off. I want to compete, but i don't want anybody to feel like i am causing a distraction to their game.

My dog is pretty well behaved, and has never even so much as licked a disc in his life.I have played in a few leagues and everybody has been really cool about it, but i have had to get him out of people's way a few times so i understand it could be a problem. (Line of sight stuff)

How do the pros feel about it, would it be cool if he was leashed most of the time and generally kept out of everyones way. I understand it is a competition for money, but there is far more than that to life for me.

Thanks for any input.
Lee Killian
