Beginners / Re: New Players League - Monday's

Jerry, I believe that Ben is planning on starting up beginners league "unofficially" the first week of March. But then starting at 5 after daylight savings time. I'm actually kinda surprised he hasn't posted anything yet so I will shoot him a text tomorrow. Oh and welcome to the area! I have some PTO time I gotta use up before April so I will be out there every Monday in March.

Cooper, I love throwing Classic Rocs for my upshots but hate dx plastic so I picked up a few star versions from Loomis back in the day. You can also find these at some tourneys, they still make them for tourneys only. DD usually has quite a few on stock if look through their discs. The new Champions are bunk in my opinion that's why I stick with star.

I saw alot of people out at beer league throwing them yesterday, so I gave them a shot after the round with April's 133ish boss. I threw from pad 3 and parked it at 1 at Swope. It flipped but it was pretty much flat throughout its entire flight. I also tested a 150 boss at Rosie in the afternoon and had mixed results. I was throwing it along with my max weight boss and destroyer just to see the differences. It was usually further than my max weight discs but I had an issue with releasing it at too high of an angle so it lost a lot of life. I'm going to pick up a light weight boss and a 150, and just play with them only for a while and see how it goes. It seems like if you toss max weight along with them the release is a little different. Oh and I was using full power throws with the 150 boss and never had any issues with it flipping as long as I did not roll my wrist at the end. But I must say by watching everyone at BL yesterday.......this does extend your game! April was throwing really well with them, Gabby was throwing a great round, and Chris and a few others are still learning them but you can see the distance improvement on a number of holes.

Since KC is getting a DD store.....will any tourneys in the Metro area be on the DD tour?

Might as well get them in the hands of people that will use them.

This is a great idea! I usually just toss them into the bottom of my cup holder and dump them out at the end of the round. But I find out real quick that I left them in there when I get in my car and it smells like an ashtray. Are you planning on having these at the Ram and Salmon?

Never played the course but it sucks to see a course getting shortened like this. I am trying to get a course put in close to where I live and I would be very happy to have a 9 hole. But if there was an 18 around this area and it was shortened that would be devastating for anyone playing disc golf in that area and trying to help the sport grow.

I use the TeeRex for a controlled forehand drive also, but when I want big D using a forehand I use a Z Crush.

Tournaments / Re: Bluebird Series State Championships

I didn't really have a problem with either course but I did do worse on the South course. I shot a 117 and tied a guy named Joe (I think from Columbia) for first in INT and won with a birdie on the long hole by the shelter house. They said that they were going to run it differently next year so I presume they will have payouts next year since so many people were upset.....but you gotta remember this was their first "state tournament". They said that there would be some growing pains and they plan on doing it differently next year. I had a blast playing on the courses in Marshall (never would of thought to play there) and it was interesting to see such a wide range of players from all over the state. There may not have been any payouts but the trophies for Open, Advanced and Intermediate were pretty sweet  8)

Barter Town / WTB Basket
« on: June 16, 2011, 09:54:56 am »
I am looking for a lightly used disc golf basket for a reasonable price. I am looking for something like a Mach III or Discatcher. If it has Nylon on it I do not want it sorry (this will be outside most of it's days). If nothing else I will go grab one at DGW this weekend but I figured I would ask the community first before I bought one at full price.

I have been doing some research on making my own baskets also and all of the ones that I have found (that were homemade) used a 2/0 Passing Link Chain. And of course you want galvanized as you mentioned above. Hope that helps, if nothing else go to lowes and check out the chain I am talking about.
