I lost a blizzard Boss out there a while back...but you can keep it if that's it. I've moved on from Blizzard plastic...and that disc hated me.

Not to interject between you two (Rob & White) but i have been pondering where a solid Disc course could go in Overland Park and I think I have found a great location. Quivira Park. It says that there is 43.33 acres of land there, but let me put an asterisk on that. First, search it on Google maps (the one with the Google earth view). OK so as you can see there is about 90 parking stalls there + restrooms. Just north before 119th street there is Indian creek and it is surrounded by woods on all sides minus the Quivira side. Here's the thing, just south, if you scroll down you will see my place of work (Overland Park Golf Course). MOST of that woods is technically ours so it is not included within the estimated acreage, but with some city convincing it could be used in this circumstance. It has good elevation changes, not like Water Works, but more like Swope, and a few creeks that run through there. I know that our (ball golf) master plan has us cutting new holes through the south east side, but almost none of that woods along the bike hike trail going up to the wee links par 3 course is going to be used. It would take a good architect with great vision, but it would be a great place, in a mostly unused park (because most people just bike and hike from their homes not park and do so around that area). The upsides are that it would be very close to the KU Edwards campus, short distance from a few high schools and JCCC, and in an area that is lacking a true Disc course. I think I will e-mail the parks supervisor tomorrow and run the idea by him, but I wanted to get a little feed back from you all to see what you think?

Found an Orange Disc at Birdland, if you can describe it and it is actually yours, I will return it to you. NO NAME ON THE DISC.

White I think J was trying to say that us Rec and Am players don't throw far, so the Mando's are even more of a hindrance, although im OK with whichever way we play because i just like to play Disc. Thanks everyone for setting up these wonderful tourneys' and my weak arm will see you on Sunday! (and best of luck to the big arms today)

Otter you are correct, He did say he was an SM South grad, and watching him overthrow a 440ft shot w/50ft uphill elevation was pretty impressive. They were a great bunch of guys to meet up with and i was lucky to join them.

General Banter / Buffalo Ridge Park

So I'm back from my yearly visit to my parents in Phoenix and played Buffalo Ridge Park. (if you remember last time I played Fountain Hills). What a beautiful backdrop to a disc golf course. I met some locals, most who qualify for the masters division (maybe Grand Masters but i didn't ask), and a younger man who had an arm like a cannon. I was instantly noticed and asked to join their group when the Rosedale Am t-shirt i was sporting was spotted (and the KU hat, but some of you might geer to that). I am awful with names but a couple of the vets said they had come out to play the Wide Open a few times, one was an ex KU pat who was as big as a bear, tossed a disc a mile, and had the accuracy to boot. The course in my opinion was not hard but the main threat was elevation changes which on one hole made you feel like a god, and the next like a weenie. I took most of my pars, one bird and 6 Bogeys to finish at +5 which i though was respectable. It was a wonderful course over all, although I appreciate the technical difficulty of FH, I will say that Buffalo made great use of the terrain and landscape and you could say that there was an added benefit of actual hiking involved. I will post a few pic's when I can, but would highly recommend this course to anyone heading out that way.

Best of luck playing in the snow... I should be back to joining you all in a few weeks!

It was there on Monday. To be honest it looks like a mower hit it.

Being an employee I can tell you that the City has a "Master Plan" that was passed a month or so ago that will involve building a disc golf course, along with a renovation plan for all/most parks and mainly the ones in the northern half of OP. I will also say that no one in the city has ever done it (build a disc golf course) to my knowledge but they will hopefully seek out a company or person who can do this through a bid process. I can also attest to the fact that "Master Plans" on our city are not always followed through 100%. If you live in the city and can attend this meeting I would highly advise it. I myself would be there but I have night classes at KU that evening. The picture is obviously from the only course in Overland Park which is dubbed "Little Blue Valley" near BVW high school. I really hope they follow through on their plans, it would be nice to have a few more courses near me besides PC, SMPark, and Bird Land but that's just me being selfish (and soon to be Heritage).
