As an old newbie, I would like to thank all who have helped me..

Mark Mills took his time to help me and introduced me to other players.
Dick has been very helpful at DGW and helped steer me in a positive direction. Along with others that I have meet here.

Last week I played in the Ohmaha/ Lincoln area , not bad mouthing them, just saying, I think KC has friendlyer (SPL?) players. I've been trying to get out more here but have been working on a project that has taken all my time, hence, my golfing still sucks.  :P

This forum has been great for me, both educational and humorus.

Hope to see some of you soon, after this week I will have 2 weeks until school starts.

If you are coming from I-70 and going down I-35, Swope is a nice tree filled park. It is a little hilly but not bad. You can jump off 435 south hit it and back on, 435 will get you to 35 south. I'm sure some one would show you around. KC has some very nice courses not far off I-70.

I would meet you but I'll be in Nebraska playing at a course near Omaha. We also have 3 very nice disc stores in the area, if you have the time.

I played the the Gold today and misplace a Dragon. It has my name and number. I think it might be around 14.  What a course, looks good and we played with an out of towner from Alabama.

We did it Friday after school. 11 out of 17 showed up to play. Each student received a mid-range,either a Kite, Stingray or Leopard. With the tall grass , no one lost a disc. The kids had a blast and some were really good. I want to thank Dick from DGW for helping us out. They only played 14 holes with the top score of 52. Prizes: 1rst was a driver and a putter, 2nd just a putter and 3rd got a mini, I even gave a last place T-shirt from World of Wheels. Some of the kids tired out, that's why I cut it short. Hotdogs, chips , sodas and snack cakes afterwards.

After reading the other post about school kids, I'm thinking of starting a team next year. Don't know who we play but it would be fun. Start them young, some need the exercise , I know I do.  :)

Thanks all for the input

I'm a teacher with a small class. I have two classes and the students spend 2 1/2 hours a day for 2 years with me, FUN, FUN ,FUN. ;D
At the end of every year, my second year students have a BBQ. This is my last 2 year program, I'm switching programs. Me and the kids throw disc around all the time and we have a nice grassy area we throw in.

 Here's the deal:
I would like to have a mini tournament for all my students this year to finish off my last year in this program. I'm going to buy each kid a disc and was thinking a mid-range , maybe a Mako. I'll grill some dogs some time in there.

Would Swope be a good course?  Putter vs. Mid-range?  No more then 20 of us, so would a small tourney be OK with the regular players? Should I have a few experienced players to help?

If any one has any idea's , I'm open.
I think the kids will have fun and who knows what will come of this.

I drink from a super micro brewery called Motorhead Brewery . They only make three kinds, Burn-out Stout, Super Honey Bee and my favorite 30 Weight a nice smooth brown with Cascades' dry hopped.  They started back in the early 90's with help from a micro named Flying Dog from Aspen. Now if you haven't drank beer with the hop oil still in it , you need to try it, the buzz is different.  I grew up in St. Louis and drank the local most of my life. Then one day I was skiing in Keystone and had an Avalanche, like sex you can't go back.

But, I will drink what is on hand or free. I do like (Coors) Blue Moon and most Boulevards.

I'm a new player and do practice my putting. At work , I will put a trash can in the shop and throw with the kids. I also live close to Legacy and hit 9 or the practice basket. CD showed me  a way that works for me and it does. I watched every video I could find on you tube some helped others did not. During my practice time , I found out that 1 putter didn't work for me. I use three, 1 flat , 1  hyser and 1 from 20 + feet. Works for me.
Now, , I am a musician and know that bad practice makes bad play. My long game sucks. I know I'm old and fat but when I go and throw all my disc most of the time the drivers all go the same, not that far. I am afraid I am making bad habits. I can not break some of my guitar playing habit because there are years at work there, habits I wish I didn't have.

By The way , when I was out throwing 50 feet as a new player, a nice young man came over to me and showed me how to double my throw, politely.

Sean you owe me for that Destroyer  ;D

Thank for all that had a hand in putting together a great day..

This was my first tournament and I had a good time.. All involved did a wonderful job.

p.s. only 3 ticks, that I found so far

I'm too old and fat to climb any fences and would pay the price of a disc to keep from having to .
#1 problem is the disc course is free and used by the public. When people start to cause excessive wear and tear on public property , the city has the right to close or change the property. I have seen where a small percent causes pain for the larger majority. Not everyone on the course belongs to this forum, so some of this is a on deaf ears. Remember when you or some one you see is vandalizing city property, you could be causing others to loose the privilege to use the park.

sorry for the 2cents
