The Great League of the Northeast happens tonight at Kessler Park (Cliff Drive). Jack Lowe will get there around 5:30, or so he hopes. I'll get there around 5:15 or 5:20. I can collect money and send people out in rolling starts, then turn it over to Jack. Last card out at 6:00. $5 for KCFDC members, $6 for non-members. THIS IS NOT A PDGA LEAGUE THIS WEEK, so those prices include the optional ace fund, which sits at over $800.
Setup is the same as last week. Some holes have multiple baskets. These are the ones that we're playing.

Cliff Drive / NE League 2018 tonight, 4.17
« on: April 17, 2018, 04:05:40 PM »
The Northeast Disc Golf League is in fact happening tonight at Kessler Park (Cliff Drive).  Jack Lowe may or may not be late.  If Jack is late, you can look for me to sign you up, helping a brother out.  Jack bought be several beers last Tuesday, so he's paid up.  I'll be there about 5:15 and can roll cards out.  Last card out at 6:00 at the latest.

Layout:

1.  Short
2.  Short
3.  Only
4.  Middle (rocks)
5.  Long
6.  Right Tunnel by stairs
7.  Short (left on hill)
8.  Middle (between trees)
9.  Only
10.  Middle
11.  Short

13.  Long
14 through 18.  All short.

It's not a PDGA league, so $5 for current KCFDC members.  That includes ace fund, which is somewhere around 850 bucks.  Add a buck if you're not a current member.  Or pay your $25 and become a current member.  That's always an option.

See ya tonight at Cliff Drive!

Cliff Drive / NE League 2018 starts tonight, 4.10
« on: April 10, 2018, 01:14:16 PM »
The Great League of the Northeast returns tonight to Kessler Park at Cliff Drive.  Tonight is NOT a PDGA league, just so you know.  Jack Lowe has a new job and so won't get there until 6-ish, so I am going to take sign ups, put cards together, and do whatever it is that league directors do.  Maybe I can figure it out between now and then.

Layout, per Jack's wishes - there are multiple pins on many holes, so please note the layout to be used is:

1.  Short - around corner to the right tight against tree line
2.  Short
3.  Only
4.  Middle - Rocks
5.  Long
6.  Right - Tunnel
7.  Short - left, entrance to tree tunnel
8.  Middle - Between the trees
9.  Only
10.  Middle
11.  Long - around the corner of reservoir
12.  Only
13.  Long
14.  Short - on hill
15.  Short - Under tree
16.  Short - between reservoir and road
17.  Short - left by road
18.  Short - by road

Out of Bounds - on or over any road, over any fence.
Hole 12 - if you're OB on drive, proceed to DZ with one shot penalty.  If you're down the hill right, you have the option to play from DZ with one shot penalty or play from where it lies.

$4 for KCFDC members, $5 for non-KCFDC members.  Add a buck for the ace fund.  Sign ups start when I get there, around 5:15.  I'll roll cards out at 5:30 or so if you're ready.  Last card out at 6:00.

I'll see ya at Cliff Drive!

If you are owed a voucher from a previous league, including Swope, those are at DDKC.  please pick them up and use them soon.  If I owe you cash, you can see me at the Frostbreaker or make arrangements for me to get it to you.

26 players out to the final KCFDC Safari Saturday at Birdland today. Thanks everyone for coming out and playing in the cold.

Also, for people that don't know, this was my last league to run. I appreciate all of the kind words that everyone has had for me and the leagues that I have ran - Shawnee Mission Park, the PDGA Traveling League during the summer, and the Safari Saturday league in the winter. I also would like to thank everyone for coming to the league. Without you, it wouldn't happen. I don't know who will take up running the league, but I assume someone will. If the new league director wants this Facebook page, we will work that out. Otherwise, I'll just post tournament information from time to time. If you're looking for me, I will probably be playing Cliff Drive casually. Why? Because I can.

Look for KCFDC summer leagues to start sometime around the first of April.

Special shout out to Paul Hirt, Matt Hirt, and Thomas O for making every single week! We had 153 different players play 401 of golf over 10 weeks. Fantastic.
The league should be posted to the PDGA site on the March 13 update, which is the first 2018 update.

Swope / Kcfdc pdga Traveling League, Feb 3
« on: January 29, 2018, 12:38:48 PM »
After discussion with Jack Lowe, I believe that Swope Park Disc Golf Course will still be in the ground on Saturday, February 3, but may not be on Saturday, February 10.  Don't read into that anything more than that, as a date certain has not been announced for when the course will be pulled.

With this in mind, I am altering the Safari Saturday schedule:

Saturday, February 3, 2018 Swope Silver and Gold
Saturday, February 10, 2018 Lakeside Hills (Birdland)

Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Swope Silver and Gold will be a flex start event.  First cards can go out at 9 AM, last card out at High Noon.  I will make arrangements to get people their payouts - I know people won't want to wait around.  That said, I want to give as many people as the opportunity to play one last singles rated round at Swope.

The cost is $5 for KCFDC Members, and $6 for non-members.  Add a buck for the ace fund.

I will consult with Dean Gary, and hopefully I can get the Swope to the following course set up - I want to cover every inch of the Swope course:

1.  Long, double mando, par 3
2.  Middle (the long position that's left), par 3
3.  Long across the street, par 4
4.  Long, par 4 - no mando
5.  Long pad, long left par 3
Gold 1.  1092 foot par 5 - no ropes, only street and parking lot OB
Gold 2.  Only, par 3
Gold 3.  Only, par 3
Gold 4.  Only, par 3
6.  Long, par 3
7.  Left - double mando (hey, I want an ace run hole), par 3
8.  Long, par 3 - no mando
9.  Short - mando left of tree, par 3
10.  Long - mando left, retee if missed, par 3
11.  Long pad to long over hill, par 4
12.  Long, par 3
13.  Long pad to cliff (rocks left are NOT OB; street is hazard area), par 4
14.  Long pad to long - mando left of tree, par 3
15.  Short (hey, I want another ace run hole), par 3
15A.  Street behind barricades to peninsula hole, par 3
16.  KCWO Long pad to long left on corner, par 4
16A. 16 short pad to short basket.  par 3
17.  Short (double mando - hey a third ace run hole!), par 3
18.  Long pad to long, par 4

24 holes.  Par 79.

All roads that cars have access to are OB.  If there is paint, use the paint as the OB line.  Benefit of the doubt goes to the player. Over those roads is also OB.

Any parking lots that cars have access to are OB.

The rock circles in the fairways are OB.  The painted line (assuming I have a chance to paint) marks the OB.  The rocks by the roads are NOT OB markers.  The rocks on 13 are NOT OB.

The clubhouse is OB, including the deck and stairs.

Holes 1 (double), 7 (double), 9, 10, 14, and 17 (double) have mandatories.  DZs will be marked for all holes EXCEPT hole 10 (re-tee with penalty).

Hole 3, the entrance road and parking lot play as a pond/river.  The main road is OB.

Gold 1.  The entrance road plays as a river.  The main road is OB.

The road between 13 and 14 will be a hazard area (play from road, 1 shot penalty).  Both sides of the road are safe on 13, over that road is OB on 14.

Hole 15A must come to rest on the peninsula on your drive.  If you do not come to rest on the peninsula, play from the DZ with a 1 shot penalty.

See ya Saturday at Swope Park, one last time.

Of note: if someone is at Swope with keys when the last card is in, I'll happily move baskets to make it more friendly, or I can come out early Sunday morning to move baskets.  Again, I'll talk to Gary Birge about that.
