General Banter / Hidden Valley/Searcy Park survey (for disc golf)
« on: May 31, 2017, 11:55:07 AM »
Over the past few years, the KCFDC has done a great job getting disc golf into Hidden Valley Park in the northland.  As that area expands to a master plan to include Search Park Greenway, the stakeholders on the master plan project have been asked to present the public with a survey on which portions of the project they should prioritize first.  You can fill out the survey here:

The existing course (labeled L on the map) will remain, but we will look at adding a new technical 18 hole course (labeled I on the map) in the future.  Please take a couple of minutes to let KCMO Parks know how important disc golf is to this group and to the city.

Thanks guys!  You're the reason that Kansas City has such a remarkable scene.

The ace fund is half of $689.  So $344.50.

hole 6 - lower ring on the basket is still missing.

That ring has been missing on the basket since I played WW for the first time in 2006!

Finally.  I've been asking for something other than pitch and putts for the past couple of years.  Let's see if people can throw 2 300' midrange shots back to back and get that birdie.

Are you going to get flat top glo KC's again this year?  I didn't play last year, but did end up with a couple of the Rocs from last year.  I know FTs break in quick, but man, these got straight to turning pretty quick.  Perhaps you can get some normal KCs?

GI, are there any leftover Rocs?

Oh, I want to register for a couple of Rocs.  Can I do that?  Is there anything else in the player's pack this year?

I'm out of town this weekend for a wedding, but GO TEAM ROC!

It is not a true island, it just plays like an island.  There is plenty of landing space nearly halfway up the fairway if a person cannot reach the pin or wants to play safe.

No drop zone needed then.  It sounds like it will play fine!

The PDGA does have suggestions about such things as forced OB carries...

I lived in the 'corridor' for 2 years (Iowa City / Cedar Rapids), which is where I really feel in love with the game.

The courses are a blast, and the people are even better.  Go. You won't regret it.

Last year was also the first year I was able to start putting up rope on Monday.  It takes damn near an entire day (and most of an evening to do).

Depending on when they get any sort of mowing done on Monday, I may be able to get some of it knocked out.  If I'm lucky, they've mowed the north part for the temp course, and I can go lay that out.

Patrick and I will do everything we can to get the course in the ground, but if we have to start on Tuesday, it will be a close call to whether it's finished before league.  This new USDGC style rope is going to take longer to put up than the simple flag and string method.

The course should be fully set up by Tuesday before the event.  KCP&R has to mow the whole course before we start putting up the OB.
