Are there going to be any (sponsorship) designated PDGA compliant smoking areas on any courses for this A tier?

I'm pretty sure the tobacco policy only applies to NT and Major events.

We're pretty excited about that.

Fixed.  Thanks Kevin.  Trying to expire the registrations for various satellites at noon before the actual event has been a learning process.

The city is supposed to drop gravel on Tuesday to back fill the retaining walls

just a few things left to take care of this upcoming weekend:

cut up the big limb that fell on 4 after Timko hit it with his drive  :D :D :D :D :D , weed eat the back 9, and finish the 2 new walls.

Those Leopard 3's do some damage!

Let's rope it up for fun! :)

Did someone say my name?

You should probably ask Scott since he's running it.  I don't think anyone else can give you the information you're looking for.  You can find him on FB or email him.

Beginners / Re: speed rating vs disc weight
« on: September 05, 2017, 01:41:37 PM »
While dropping to a disc with less weight may help you reach the intended flight characteristics, you'll have better luck dropping to a slower disc which has a lower velocity requirement.  In your case, throwing something slower like (and staying in the Innova family) a Valkyrie or even a Leopard would potentially have similar flight characteristics.

Of course, this is all dependent upon you generating spin or "snap" on the disc, which is often the reason discs don't fly like they should, especially with beginners.

You may want to reach out to Pete for any KS course questions.

For those who have been Down Under yet, there's probably 10 or so trees down.  Also I've seen at least 2 down on the Up Top course.

General Banter / Storm Damage this Weekend - Help Needed!
« on: July 24, 2017, 09:26:22 AM »
As posted on the KCFDC Facebook group:

The storm that came through Kansas City this past weekend did some real damage to our courses. I've already heard about damage to SMP and Waterworks, and have seen damage to both Rosedale courses. If you have seen serious tree damage that needs removal (either a truck to pull it away or a chainsaw to cut it up) please post below. I'm sure the parks departments will be busy cleaning other places as well, so please be patient. But we'll work to get our courses back in order.

Also, if you're playing a course, please help us in removing any fallen limbs that are easy enough to drag off. Some of the more damaged course will require workdays (I'm looking at you, Rosedale Down Under), so be on the lookout for events to help us clean up after the damage.

Thanks to all of those who play, and even more thanks to those that help! You're the reason that KC has one of the best disc golf communities in the world.

General Banter / Hidden Valley/Searcy Park survey (for disc golf)
« on: May 31, 2017, 11:55:07 AM »
Over the past few years, the KCFDC has done a great job getting disc golf into Hidden Valley Park in the northland.  As that area expands to a master plan to include Search Park Greenway, the stakeholders on the master plan project have been asked to present the public with a survey on which portions of the project they should prioritize first.  You can fill out the survey here:

The existing course (labeled L on the map) will remain, but we will look at adding a new technical 18 hole course (labeled I on the map) in the future.  Please take a couple of minutes to let KCMO Parks know how important disc golf is to this group and to the city.

The ace fund is half of $689.  So $344.50.
