Tournaments / Re: 2013 Kan-U-Wyco - March 9th

I once was playing Belmont DGC in Dayton, OH and a storm was rolling in.  I was there for business and it was the only chance I was going to get to play.  It was in the summer and I decided I didn't care if I was going to wet so I headed out and got started.  I made it to hole 12 or 13, and then all hell broke lose.  The wind was so bad and it was raining so hard that I couldn't even tell which direction to head back to my car.  Since I had never played this course and couldn't see a thing, it took me probably 15 minutes to find my way back to my car.  There were several lightning strikes very close and I wouldn't have been surprised if it started hailing (it didn't).  I thought to myself "well that was dumb" and was thankful I made it back to my car in one piece. Weather is very unpredictable and I personally think it was the right call.  I don't think there was enough daylight to complete the round.  Especially if it was stopped due to lightning and then wait a half hour and restarted again.  Now I know several of us were on the far side and couldn't hear the horn and kept playing through and didn't wait the half hour.  We might have been able to finish the round, but I know we still had 6 holes to play at 5:15/5:30 pm (when we finally stopped).  The first round took us a lilttle over 3.5 hours to play in much easier conditions, which means if we played the final 1/3 of the course at the same rate it would have taken an hour and 15 minutes.  I'm guessing in those conditions it would have taken us at least an hour and half if not 2 hours and I'm pretty sure would have been very, very dark.

I don't think limiting to speed 9 would change much of anything.  I've seen both Matt Crowe and Jake Bowen bomb Teebirds (7 speed) over 500 ft.

Ok, I'm going to move this to June 1/2. It just seems like a better weekend over all.

That weekend works better for me.

7 out for a snow round.  As deep as the snow was it wasn't too hard to find discs as nobody had been on the course yet.  Only one disc lost and it was a white disc so not too much trouble.   A few used ribbons, but it seemed to slow it down quite a bit and the rest of us just risked it.  We played regular/normal 18.

Eric E/Jeff 46 (-8) and bogey free
Sean Chancellor/Cali 49 (-5)
Narin/Mike 51 (-3)
Aaron/Kelly 54 (E)

Joe your dogs are the most well behaved dogs too thats what is ridiculous about this whole situation.  Completely unwarranted.  Now i've seen owners with dogs that might have warranted a talking to but to give a ticket without a warning is ridiculous and no way did you or your dogs deserve it.

I think Narin and Matt F. were even and Steeler Doug was maybe 2 over.

I have played several in nm, the best courses are in Taos, nm. Sipapu is the best.  Brent Baca memorial in Abq is pretty good too.  Tough to play alone though.  I have a contact I met at gbo from there he might show you around.

Yeah, little sloppy yesterday.  And after walking through the woods and and along the dam, I'm always way more tired than a normal round.  We had 15 out.  I'm not sure of all the scores and who was all there, but here's what I remember.

Jordan H./Matt P. -6
Jake B./Mike -5
Mark M./Partner -4
Eric E./Boyd -3
Narin / Partner - 1
Others were +

I know John B, John K, Dalton P, Matt F, Kevin W, Ron K, and one other where there.  But I don't know who was partnered with who and who what all the other scores were.

During my wife's round on Sunday morning in which I caddied for her and played too, I packed her discs into my bag with most of my regular ones I carried and two full water bottles, I said my shoulders and back were getting sore.  My wife quickly told me to "stop whining", which I promptly did.  I definitely needed some beers though during lunch.  I had played over 100 holes in 3 days, with two rounds of Rosie on Friday (with Fri traveling league), 2 rounds on Saturday (up top and down under), one round Sunday morning,  and the final nine.  However, she gets it as do I.
