General Banter / Re: Raymore - Intro to Disc Golf
« on: June 26, 2012, 10:30:21 AM »
Is this open for older people? I am 29 and just started playing last week. I am trying to learn everything possible to improve my game.

Yes, you are welcome to join us.  It's not limited to youth.  Like I said earlier, I am hoping parents will bring their kids and be a part of it too. But there will be kids there.  Yes, vince does have a mean tomahawk and we'll show you how to throw it.  BTW, as someone pushing 40, 29 is not older.   ;)

I  recently saw that.  Very cool.  I saw another one through www.bluevalleyrec.org in Overland Park, KS.  I am hoping to build momentum for a disc golf course in Raymore/Belton area and I started the process of starting this rec program months ago.

General Banter / Raymore - Intro to Disc Golf
« on: June 22, 2012, 02:10:42 PM »
Iím running an Introduction to Disc Golf program (with Vince Comoís help) through Raymore Parks & Recreation department.  This program is not  just for kids.  I am encouraging entire families to sign up and Iíve priced it very affordable.  For $20, each player will get two discs (DX or other base plastic) and 4 sessions July 17, 19, 24, and 26 in Raymore, MO.  More details can be found in the flyer here:  http://introtodiscgolf.shutterfly.com/8

I'm not sure signups are up yet, but eventually you can signup at https://registerc.parksreconline.com/raymore103.html.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.  Tell your friends or family who may be interested.  Eric

This is just my opinion but for safety sake why aren't tournaments started at 9am to alleviate the amount of heat we have to endure? Just for the hot months!

When you run an event, you can set the time there......don't bash those that do because they don't do it your way......

It's just his opinion and he's asking a question, where's the bashing.  This forum is an appropriate method to ask such questions.  Somebody needs thicker skin if that sort of question seems unreasonable.

I second both Cooper and Dan Z's comments.  It would have been a little better if we had teed off a little earlier, say 9:00 or 9:15am.  But overall I had a lot of fun even though Cliff always kicks my butt.

I'll play for east side since I call MO home.  I would have volunteered as captain but I was somewhat torn; being born and raised in Kansas and being a Kansas fan.

Ice and rest, it's really the best thing you can do.  Practice putting.

I'm excited about the KCWO this year and I wished more people would get on board.  I like the format.  I think it will be extremely challenging with lots of golf.  It does take a big committment to play in it (cost and time).  I liked the logo on the fundraising disc, but the image on the full color buzz is not my cup of tea (that eyeball in the upper left corner keeps staring at me saying...." WHY didn't you make that PUTT?".  But who knows, maybe I will like it better when I see it in person.  As much energy and focus the KCFDC put on this event, I would really hope that it would measure up to other comparible tournaments like the GBO in terms of payouts, players pack, courses, and execution.  Just an FYI, the players pack at the GBO was awesome and will be tough to beat.  I got a Titanium Wasp (retail $25), Cryztal FLX Drone (retail $20-30 depending on where purchased), dryfit shirt, hat, glass mini, water bottle, and a pair of Keen socks.  I think it's important to support Kansas City's biggest tournament, which I wholeheartedly do, and I think its important to let people know what you liked, didn't like, or that didn't live up to expectations (whether they want to hear them or not).

Young Park - Blue Springs / Re: 5/16/12 League
« on: May 17, 2012, 11:12:45 AM »
What's the word for a round like that.....? Whoops! Haha

I can relate.  My last two league rounds (at Young's and Cliff) have felt like that.

Which course is the flex start singles on Friday?  Also, what's the cost for each of three types of rounds?

Found and Lost / Lost at blue valley

I'm an idiot.  Today I walked off #16 at blue valley (18 short setup) without a white dx rhyno.  reward for return. Either a 6 pack of your choice or you can dig through my extra discs. 816.289.9151.

Played league last night and had a great time with the people I played with Adam, TJ Ring and Tank. The course looks good and it will look even better when its mowed. The layout is great it played 2.5 hours for the 4 of us. A lot of the original holes and a few new ones. A couple of holes need some work so here is some constructive ideas. Hole 4 and hole 13 both need a gap to get through. Even if its a 6' wide gap. These are both overhand thumber holes which I dont have that shot. Doesn't seem fair to us that don't throw those types of shots. I can throw very straight when needed and would thread the needle if the gap was there.
The course is a great layout and will be fun to play.

I've only played that layout once, but both of those holes have decent spike hyzer lines for a lefty.  And I saw Vince (a righty) park #13 with a high anny line with a roc.

Bag Tags / Re: Bag Tag Rules
« on: April 28, 2012, 10:33:11 AM »
Here's a scenario I wanted to know how to handle.  Say there are 3 players with bag tags playing on a card in league.  Tag #'s 4, #50, and #260.  Say the #50 and #260 tie (both shoot 54), but both players beat the #4 bag tag holder (shot 56).  Who gets the #4 tag?  Clearly the former #4 who shot 56 gets #260 in this scenario.  But I couldn't figure out who gets the lowest tag since both of the other players have a claim to it.
