General Banter / KCFDC apparel
« on: July 30, 2012, 02:47:57 PM »
Last month I went to the KCFDC Board Meeting and asked permission to sell KCFDC apparel; shirts, hats, and patches.  I was granted permission.  The purpose is to grow membership and club awareness/unification.  Any profits will be turned over to the club for various development activities like course upgrades etc.

The following items are available:

Dry Fit Polo shirts with the KCFDC logo on the left chest and the embroidered on the right sleeve.  They are $26 per shirt for sizes S - XL and $28 for 2XL, 3XL, or 4XL and they will be in either Navy (with white stitching) or Carolina Blue (with Navy Stitching).  Here are the sizes:

Men's T474
XS (32-34" chest), S (35-37" chest), M (38-40" chest), L (41-43" chest), XL (44-46" chest), 2XL (47-49" chest), 3XL (50-53" chest), 4 XL (54-57")

Ladies L474
XS (size 2, 32-34" bust), S (size 4/6, 35-36" bust), M (size 8/10, 37-38" bust), L (size 12/14, 39-41" bust), XL (size 16/18, 42-44" bust), 2XL (size 20/22, 45-47" bust), 3XL (size 24/26, 48-51" bust), 4XL (size 28/30, 52-55" bust)

There are two hats in Navy with the logo embroidered on the left front side in white to choose from.  One is the New Era -Stretch Mesh hat for $17.00.  I have seen this had being sold by some other disc golf companies in different colors and if you look around you might able to check it out.  The other hat is the Nike Golf - Dri-Fit Mesh Swoosh Flex Sandwich Cap for $20.00.
For the New Era hat, NE112 sizes are S/M (6 7/8 - 7/14), M/L (7 1/8 - & 1/2), L/XL (7 3/8 - 7 3/4)
For the Nike Cap 333115 sizes are S/M (6 3/4 - 7 1/4) and L/XL (7 1/4 - 7 3/4)

I will be taking preorders through September 15. You can either PM or send me an email at with your order.   I will need the following information: men or ladies shirt, shirt size, shirt color, quantity, hat type, hat size.  I will be attending various leagues, East-West Ch, and various tournaments to collect money and orders.  I am hoping to get these back and distributed at the Club Championship.  Depending on interest, I will take additional orders after September 15th and at the Club Championship and distribute at 2013 Ice Bowl if not before.  I'm working on Patches too, but I'm not as far along.  I will post with these details later.

If you have any questions or if I missed something obvious, just ask or blast.  I know the KCFDC isn't shy.

Here are example pictures.

I think quite a few leagues have suffered from the heat and limited participation this summer.  But I think there are quite a few reasons for the limited participation at PHill. A few of the regulars have moved out of the area, Dan C moved to Blues Spring and the group that often plays with him are now playing BS and Legacy leagues regularly and not PHill.  For a while, Smithville had league basically at the same time which pulled several players away earlier in the spring.  Might be due to people not liking doubles format.  Like Bowen says, doubles are for winter, singles are for summers.

Finally, Narin isn't all that active on this board and I think for some people knowing what's going on and how people scored gets people to league.  I don't think it was the safari holes or alt tee pads as the reason people are not attending the league.  Those rounds were some of the most fun I've had at leagues.  Now they take quite a while, which might be another reason now that I think about it.  I know for me I haven't been at every league there because I'm super busy right now.  I hope the PHill picks up again this fall and it's well attended.

we all are.  everyday we get a day older.  Otherwise you are dead and you have more important things to worry about than how old you are.

I agree about plastic.  Most including myself don't need more plastic.  And if they're good quality shirts that look cool, then that's a different story.  What do you think about the towel idea?

Executive decision:

Shirts will be given out instead of a disc.  That way I don't run the risk of being stuck with a bunch of custom printed plastic. I'll have the shirts made in two colors. So you'll have a team uniform for the day.  ;D That said, please provide your t-shirt size along with your entry.

I really can't stand having another T-shirt.  I need another T-shirt like I need another hole in my head.  I mean half the time they don't fit me right.  I either risk getting a medium and it being too short or too tight in the shoulders or getting a large and it fitting fine in the shoulders, but it's vanity sized and fitted for someone with a much larger love of beer (if you know what I mean).  If I'm going to get another shirt, I would want it to be dry fit or a polo as that's almost all that I wear anymore when I play.  At least with a disc, I can let my kids have it or give it to a new player.  Not much can be done with a t-shirt you don't want except give it to good will.  I'd rather you just save the money for more trees and not buy the T-shirts.   Or how about a new golf towel.  Mine is looking a little worn.

I'm glad you liked it.  So what did you shoot since you can compare to what Will shot?

Victor Ashe in Knoxville
A 9 hole course in Gatlinburg
The Sinks in Chattanooga.

Victor Ashe is a decent course.  Kinda boring though, long and open.  Well maintained though. I'd play Morningside or Groves Park over it though.   Morningside Park was recently redesigned and is suppose to be really cool.  I haven't played since it was redesigned, but I would try it since the park was pretty cool.  And the Groves Park (Mounds) in Oak Ridge, TN has 27 holes which are really cool, probably about 15 minutes away from Knoxville.  Former ball golf course converted to disc golf.  Best map with new 9 holes are at

Have fun!

2.5 hours at both Woodhenge and Blackthorn, w/o knowing the course, is a very brisk pace. I'm assuming you'll have 4+ golfers...

It is, we'll see.  And as I said we'll limit the group size on each hole which will help with speed of play.

Smithville / 1st time at Smithville
« on: July 10, 2012, 01:45:14 PM »
So some buddies and I have never played any of the three smithville courses and we decided this Saturday (July 14) we will go play all three.  Here's our schedule right now.  We will try our best to stay on this schedule.

7:45am - 10am Beaver Creek
10:00 am - 12:30pm Black Thorn
12:30pm - 2pm Lunch (likely at Brick House Cafe & Pub or O'Rhilee's Pub & Grub)
2pm - 4:30pm Woodhenge

We're also going to a blind draw partner game for each round for $2.  Everyone plays their own game, then at the end of the round, you draw for your partner.  Lowest total score of both partners wins.  This should keep everyone engaged throughout the round.  We'll also do a bag tag challenge for the entire group.  After each round we will settle up on the doubles $ and bag tags.  In order to keep our schedule, we'll have groups with no more than 4 players on each card.  You don't have to come to all three rounds, if you want to play just one round and head off that's fine.  Let me know if we should look for you.

By the way, I have bag tag #4.

I saw on last months minutes 6:15- Rick will postpone H2O, may or may not happen.

I'm thinking of doing Pitt Open in Pittsburg, KS.  Same date.  Let me know if you want to ride down together.

Online registration is up.  Although it's not quite working properly.  To register, go to:

And then click on any of the activity types (Adult Dance, Adult Sports, Camps, Fitness, Instructional Programs, Special Events, Tiny Sports, or Youth Sports) or browse activities.  It doesn't really matter which one because the one you want isn't listed.  Then use the drop menu on type to select Sports and then hit search.  It should pull it up.  If you can't figure it out, then there's the gold old fashion way and call it in at (816) 322-2791.

Deadline to signup is this Friday.
