Water Works / Course prep day
« on: May 15, 2013, 11:39:06 AM »
Sunday May 19 we will be having the first Wide Open course prep day at Water Works.  We will be starting at 8 a.m. and going until 2- ish.

There is lots to do including: spreading mulch around all tee pads, painting, repairing broken tee signs if materials are in, replacing stantions for re-flagging, planting some small stuff.

Some things that are needed to accomplish what needs to be done:  YOU, shovels, rakes, vehicles to haul mulch, cordless drills w/ full battery charges, weed whackers, loppers, YOU.  This is a great way to help out and make the courses look even better to our out of town guests and for us to enjoy after everyone leaves.

It's always a decent day at Lake Shore, even if you are getting charged by a buffalo.  This is just one of the great things happening at the P Hill course.  Thanks for doing this on Aaron.

Four hardy souls made it out last night.  There was no rain but the ground was past saturated.  The temperature at tee time was 38 degrees but the lack of wind made it seem a little warmer.  Tony Burnett provided the barley pop with the money from his ace two weeks ago.  Ace fund now sits at $186.00.

Tony Burnett                     55  $10
Mike Petrin                        60  $ 2
Scott "Gabby" Thompson  61
Patrick Smith                     69

There is no set level to start.  They are in play at every KCFDC league.

I'd even do Rec Masters if House showed up sometime.  ;D

That would be rec grandmasters.

I thought football season was over.

Unlike schools here, the Big 10 schools excel in multiple sports.  Unless we are talking about Illinois, they aren't much good at anything.  They would be a good fit in the Big 12.

There is something going just about every weekend except this one coming up and the weather doesn't want to agree.  The next weekend that doesn't have anything going on April 7th or April 21st.

so it looks like nt and a tier again? please consider scheduling the age rejected pro divisions with the younger pros. last year was ridiculous waiting no less than 5 minutes on EVERY hole, more than 30 on some. it got so bad we started carrying full size lawn chairs at swope on saturday.
refresh my memory, how many other nt events shuffled the old folks off to the next lower tier?

Actually I believe it will be NT, A & B again.  You are right we should be Lemmings and just follow the lead of everyone else.  Or you could check out the history of the Wide Open on the front page of the web site and realize that this might just be another innovation started in KC and soon everyone will be following us again
Did you talk to the official on the course about the pace of play at the time or are you just complaining because the tournament didn't cater to YOU?

Perpendicular is determinable both on a straight line and a curved line.

Can you explain this a little further Rob?  A line can not be perpendicular to an arc.  In the illustration you provided the red arc and the green arcs are just construction lines to establish a 90 degree angle between the blue line and the black line through point P.  Actually the illustration is wrong if the blue line and the black line are perpendicular there should be a square at point O to designate the 90 degree angle.

The police are out there in plain vehicles looking for open containers, off leash dogs, drugs, and making sure that general population knows it is mainly a disc golf park.   They are not running people off, just letting them know they are having a picnic close to a fairway and it might be best to move.  The only problems you will have are the ones you create.

Numbers are being crunched now.  We will have scores, number of players, and donations as soon as it is all finalized.  Ice Bowl is not a typical event where when its done on Sunday it is over.  There were a lot of numbers flying around Sunday night but none of them are official and I don't want to give out wrong info.  Please be patient and everything will be posted soon.
