What a giant waste of time.  Where was the product placement from the PDGA that was such a big deal.  I sat through that for what?  5 mentions of FROLF, and a seven second clip of some guy hitting the girl he was playing with instead of the fairway.  At least he didn't land in poison ivy.

12 people were at New Players League last night with rolling starts where the last card of threesomes started at 5:30, handicaps and a couple surprise guests lead to an interesting night at Rosedale.  A lot of the fun was had on the course but just as much at the picnic tables were a few people were just hanging out.  It was a treat to watch Catrina Allen and Paul Ulibarri come out to throw a few holes.

Ryan Keck was too shy to ask Liz Lopez for an autograph so when they got put on the same card at the 4 States Open he just hit an ace and had her sign it.

A season high 17 people were out for league last night pushing the total rounds played to 200 for the year.  A 5:45 start meant the last card was finishing just before the last light of the day.  Ryan Keck had the low score with a 54.  Next week we will be starting at 5:30 at Swope with another mini clinic by local pro and Dynamic Discs Pete Cashen.  We will be meeting by hole 1.

Rosedale / Re: Hole #9

The rocks are back on #9 but they are a bit wider, out into the parking lot.  They have added more rocks to cut down on the weed eating that needs to be done between them.  There is a definite O.B. line now, no more discussions or arguments about in or out because you really cant land between the rocks anymore.  There is an open space up by the gate that will need to be marked in the future, but that is the only place.

Beginners / New Players League

Tonight New players League will be at Swope.  There will be a free pre round clinic with CD starting at 5:30.  Format for league will be decided after the clinic but probably looking at best shot doubles.  Come out and pick up some tips to improve your game and then implement what you have learned.

General Banter / Re: Bottles on the course
« on: August 03, 2011, 12:16:44 PM »
I guess you are all correct this was a foolish endeavor.  I should just let it go and not care about anything or get mad when a friend gets hurt on broken bottles on the course.  Drinking from cans is beneath us anyway and people shouldn’t intentionally fall on shards of glass.  Hope this never happens to anyone else and the next time you see Bert tell him not to fall on the broken glass.

General Banter / Bottles on the course
« on: August 03, 2011, 10:11:38 AM »
I am seeing more and more people bringing bottles out to the course.  Even people that have played for a while are starting to bring them.  Last night at New Players League there was an injury caused by broken bottles on the course.  Please, if you are bringing bottles to the course stop, and if you see people with them let them know that bottles don’t really belong on the course.  Even if they are throwing them in the trash cans, and they all say they do, they are still a threat to get pulled out and broken on parts of the course.  There are people that will take unwanted cans out of the trash but not bottles.

The heat finally took its toll on New Players League last night.  Only five people showed up to play with the temperature at 109 degrees at tee off.  Four of the people there had a good time the one hold out was Bert who cut his leg up falling on broken bottles in the trees off eight fairway.  He just cleaned it off with his beer, from a can, wrapped it up with a rag and finished the round.
Next week, on the 9th, we will be at Swope for league.  There will be a free clinic at 5:30, this is the correct time, with local pro and Innova Disc ambassador Duane “CD” Steiner.  Come out and join the fun and pick up some tips that will improve your game.

Tournaments / Re: Results from the 6th H2Open

Actually it's not against the rules.  All the competition manual says is professionals and amateurs should not be mixed.  I should not call in sick to work on Friday and then spend the day golfing, but it doesn't mean I wont or can't.  It's more of TD's bending to the whims of people, pros or thinking they are pros not wanting to play with less experienced people.
