It was another great turn out at New Players League last night.  Five new faces joined the 11 returning players to match the season high for people at league.  Scores ranged from lower 50s’ to higher 80s’ and everyone had a great time on one of the cooler nights we’ve had.  Steven Morrill came out for the first time last night and left with CTP.  A discussion was started last night to move league to Swope for a night to get a change of scenery and let some people to try out a different course in town.  It was received with positive feed back so on August 9th we will be playing Swope for a night.

The league is still going, I was called away on a military thing and results were not posted.  I am back and getting things running smooth again.  We are still going strong at 6:00 on Tuesday Night.  Ten people came out and enjoyed the heat Tuesday night a little drop from when I left but still a decent turn out.  I have tracked 120 rounds in 12 weeks this year with the high week having 16 players.  This weeks hot round was Brandon Deerr with a score of 50 dropping his average down to 58.  Most people left before we had a chance to do CTP.

Brandon Deerr      50
Nate Carter         53
Russell Beadle      54  first week, new to area from Manhatten
Dylon Gonzales     55

Drue Allison         60
Ben Crosby         60
Dale Walters       65
Paul Smith          70

Please don't let the scores influence your decision to come out and join us.  New Players is not just about new to disc golf but also new to our area.  If I am not running league, I can usually be found around the course working on something, but that is for a different thread.

Rosedale / Just because the Wide Open is over .....

Eastern Front is on Saturday, but if you don't get in because you didn't pre register or cant play for some other reason come out to Rosedale around 10 and help pick up.  While walking around last night doing a little clean up I realized this wasn't going to be something that could be done in a couple hours by one person.  The recent winds have blow a lot of trash in the park from the surrounding neighborhoods and I have heard about a limb down on 17 down under.  This is something that can be done in a couple hours by numerous people, lets not waste all the work that went into getting the course ready for the Wide Open.

New players league continues to grow, last week there were 16 players and this week 14.  There have been 107 rounds played this year and it looks like we will break 200 for the year.  The longest day of the year just happened to be last night and we took advantage of that.  The course was not set up totally long but there were some challenges for the players.  In addition to the regular setup we played 16 from the long pad and 18 to the practice basket in the long setting.  Miles Mckee had the low score for the night but Nate Carter won the CTP played from the skate park sidewalk to the practice basket by the tennis courts.

New players league is starting to grow.  More new faces are showing up to play with the people that come back every week.  Last night we mixed it up a little bit and played some down under and up top.  Next week maybe some doubles but not for sure yet.  Ryan Keck had the low score for the night and left with tag 12.  Yes, we do play for tags.  Dylon Gonzales left with a shirt for CTP.

It was a great night for golf the course looks great.  A fresh mow with fairways still visible on some holes. More new faces came out to join us last night.  We have had 25 different people show up for league and a total of 51 rounds thrown in the seven weeks we have been going.  The numbers might not be impressive but they are promising.  No CTP was conducted last night based on a group vote.

It will be a beautiful night for golf.  If you weren't there last week you missed out on a really good time with all short pin placements.  The course has had fairways mowed and most pins have been moved.  Come out and test the island, bring the wife, girlfriend, kids or friends it is a good time at New players League or Ladies Night Out.  We will be starting at 6:00 so please be there no later than 5:45.

If you didn't make it out to disc golf day that is too bad, it was a blast.  I have been told the baskets will remain in the short position through Tuesday.  This is the time to come out or come back to make an ace run or two.  You may not see every hole in the short setting again this season.  I am expecting to see the biggest attendance of the year Tuesday night.  Please be there no later than 5:45 so we can be going by 6:00.

Only two people showed up last night on a great night for golf.  Hopefully they were playing at one of the other great courses in town.  We did end up playing a casual round with the people that came in a little late and finished the round in the dark.
