Rosedale / DU benches gone?
« on: March 21, 2011, 12:24:18 pm »
I just played Down Under yesterday and noticed that most of the benches were gone. I was just curious if the CC were the ones that pulled them or someone wanted some old school benches for their house?

Beginners / Re: Looking for beginner info.

When I first started playing I went to some courses close to my house and played by myself. But if I ran into a group I would say "go ahead I am new" and almost everybody asked me if I wanted to play with them. Also starting in April there is a beginners league on Tuesday nights at Rosedale Park. That is where I learned a lot about the sport and how to throw correctly. I believe that the beginners league starts at 6 but don't quote me on that.

Just to bump this up, Loomis has a BUNCH of unused/lightly used plastic for dirt cheap! He hooked me up for sure and talked me into buying a disc that I wouldn't had bought normally and I am totally in love with it! Thanks again Loomis and I might even hit you up later for some more plastic!

For smooth round edges it is a lot easier to do with a swivel exacto knife instead of a standard. But for straight lines the fixed blade is best.

I know that there is going to be quite a good group coming out at 11, me being one of them. Did it get moved back?

Tank is correct. I looked at it earlier and hadn't seen the post a few hours ago. But at least there are more spots open!

Actually if you have noticed it is now going to be a 4 round tourney and they are allowing 90 more players. The new player spot will begin registering Wed. I think ???

Tournaments / Re: KCFDC 2011 Calendar of Events
« on: February 10, 2011, 03:58:10 pm »
I've put up a Google Calendar of all of the KCFDC events this year.  I'll be creating a calendar for leagues once those get set in stone, and I may create another calendar for the events in the surrounding cities.

If you see your event up and want some information added, just let me know.  If you see an event that isn't up that you want up, let me know.

I've added a couple more calendars:

Non-tournament KCFDC events (BoD meetings, Work days once we get them, etc):

Non-KCFDC Surrounding tournaments

A league schedule calendar will be arriving shortly!

I tried looking at the Non-KCFDC Surrounding tournaments but it says I do not have permission.

:D :D :D Thanks Dan I thought it was just going to be some ace videos but was pleasantly surprised by the song! The 10 second rule line was hilarious!

Timko, Have you heard of anyone signing up for the beginners league? I heard a couple at the IB talk about running it as a team, and I hit Shane up on FB but no response. I might be able to help out once in a while depending on a possible move  :'(

Well if I find it I will be sure to give you back your "large plastic bag of flour-like substance", and claim my $10 reward :)

Where can one purchase a bag tag since they are not at DGW?

Not at DGW ??? That is where I purchased mine and everyone else I know did the same. Did they say they were out or something?

General Banter / Re: Reclassification question (Am to Pro)
« on: January 31, 2011, 01:21:24 pm »
If that is the case then I would assume that if someone were to play at a non PDGA event in a lower than pro division but has a cash payout you would not have to move up? This also makes me think that if someone were to play in a league here in KC and was paid in cash you would be okay also? I think the big thing I was missing was if a player accepted cash while competing in a Pro division, so anyone lower than that would be okay.

General Banter / Reclassification question (Am to Pro)
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:59:51 am »
Alright at the Ice Bowl a few friends of mine were talking about the upcoming Ram N Salmon open. One question that came up was if someone were to play in the Am division that pays cash out would you have to be classified as a pro from then on. I know that it is not a PDGA event so I didn't really think it mattered but the wording in the PDGA rules leave it open to interpretation. 2.3 B2- An Am player is automatically
re-classified as Pro when the player has accepted cash while competing in a Pro division. Accepting prizes in lieu of cash or accepting money for winning an ancillary contest such as an ace pool does not cause a player to relinquish his or her amateur status.
So that begs the question would a non PDGA event with a cash payout be considered a ancillary contest?

I also had an amazing time considering it was my first one and didn't know what to expect. It may have been bitter cold (not whining just pointing out the facts) but I could think of nothing better to do than throw some plastic and help out a charity. Thanks again for all who put in the extra work to keep this thing running smooth, and a very special thanks for whoever found my lights on in my Ford Festiva :)
