I will for sure be at this event, but one question tho....I am too young to be Masters, way too old for juniors and no where close to being a pro.....so I guess I should sign up for Rec? I usually consider myself and intermediate player but I haven't really seen a tourney setup like this. I also have limited experience with tourneys so don't scold me too bad :)

Rosedale / Ice Bowl Setup?
« on: January 24, 2011, 03:54:28 PM »
Is the Ice Bowl going to use the current hole setup? If not when will it be moved? Just curious because I was going to try to get a round in tomorrow.

Thanks

General Banter / Re: Direction to go for disc golf?

I agree my first post was quite extreme compared to where the sport is at now. And I know the websites to go watch videos online if I need to get my fix, but for the average joe that doesn't know Disc Golf could care less about those videos......if he even runs across them. I am just saying I have watched some very unexciting videos/sports on TV on a lazy Sunday afternoon when nothing else is on. From everything I have read Disc Golf has grown a lot just by word of mouth or people playing it at a public park, heck I lived down the street from WW for 2 years and had no idea what it was besides a big urban park. As soon as I found out what the park was used for, well here I am :). I think that if someone like myself (one those is interested by weird and new sports) stumbled across a round of Disc Golf on ESPN 8 The Ocho or a half hour show of highlights I could see the sport growing by amazing numbers. BTW who else saw the PBA Tournament of Champions where a 299 and 100 was bowled in one game!  :o

I have thought the same thing too. I was just recently introduced into the sport this last year, and until then I have never heard or seen the sport (that is why I was so interested). I would hope that it is not the PDGA holding back on giving the rights to a TV market is the reasoning for it. But I could easily see one of the ESPNs running footage of the sport if the PDGA allowed them FREE access to run it. Sure you are not making a payday off the bat but the sport would grow by leaps and bounds if people knew about it. Ultimate has been on TV before if I remember correctly but that is like watching a cheer leading competition without the hot cheerleaders (sorry for those of you that love ultimate). If nothing else I could easily see a ball/disc golf tournament being on TV if you brought the best of both sports and had them duke it out (would be awesome to watch!). Of course I am kinda off subject since you were just talking about being on a major website but until people know about the sport there won't be a following. mo.02

I was supposed to be out of town but since the weather is going to be a little nasty I might just stay in town and help out with this if you need another volunteer.

I first thought that it was probably somebody in Beer League, but we didn't stop @ 10 this week so I doubt that.

LOL thanks! I actually should of had it parked.......had I not hit the tree in the middle of the fairway.  :'( Either way I am just glad to have my super straight disc back! Now I am officially ready for the Ice Bowl!......as long as I don't lose anymore in the snow! (There are no knock on wood smileys :( )

At beer league I lost my almost new JLS in the snow on 10. It should be fairly easy to find when the snow is gone. It was almost brand new and it is BLAZE orange. If returned a few beverages of your choice are on me.

Kryptenx- PMed (since he was first)

Ken- If you have sevral toss a couple in your car and bring them to the Ice Bowl. I don't care about X outs as long as the flight plates are messed up. And I could always use an extra or two :)

Anthony- Thank you for the offer but I really like the white disc in the summer time. I have also been dabbling in dying myself so that could be a thought down the road but not to this disc.

Thanks for the quick responses guys! I don't mind buying a new disc at DGW but mine is nice and broke in and I never see people throw them on course so that makes me think there are a few sitting in closets collecting dust.

Barter Town / WTB Star TeeRex
« on: January 13, 2011, 07:38:27 PM »
I currently have a Star TeeRex that I love to death but it is white and doesn't do so well in the snow.  ::) Anyways I would love to purchase a used TeeRex from someone that has lightly used it. I think my current one is a 170 or 172 but I will take any weight over 170. Not to picky about the colors but it has to be usable in the snow.

Side note: If you have any Star overstable drivers I might be interested also! I throw Bosses but also like XCals and Maxs. A Drone here and there is great too :)

Thanks, Michael
