Disc Golf Topics for Women / 2016 Women's League Schedule
« on: March 31, 2016, 01:57:41 pm »
2016 marks our 6th consecutive year and we will continue our traditional Monday nights at Rosedale a.k.a. Ladies Night Out!

We're also trying something new this year. It's like a traveling league... with a twist. I want to get a better understanding of where the ladies play in the KC area so we will be coming to a course near you very soon! I also hope this will give better opportunities for more women to participate.

So every Monday night we will be at Rosedale- this league is FREE and VERY beginner friendly. We will offer clinics once a month that will also be free. More advanced players are highly encouraged to come out and be a mentor!

New for 2016:  Then one night during the week we will offer a 2nd league on a rotating schedule of courses.  We will be supporting other KCFDC leagues  throughout the year with hopefully 1 or 2 women's cards.

Check out the schedule for April below. I'll add to this once we see how this rotation works out for everyone in April.

2016 KC Diva Spring Feeva
A Women’s Only Disc Golf Tournament

Saturday May 14, 2016
Swope Park Disc Golf Course
Kansas City, Mo

Registration for the 2nd Annual KC Diva Spring Feeva is now open! There is a division offered for all players of all skill levels, which makes this event the best opportunity for ladies to play in their very first tournament. The PDGA has lowered fees to make this event approachable for all players, so invite your friends, girlfriends, mothers, sisters, and daughters.

This year we will also be a participating Women's Global Event.
WGE Player’s pack signups will open on January 13th only to the women that are already pre-registered for a sanctioned WGE event. The player’s packages will be available to the first 800 players globally on a first-come, first-served basis.

Kansas City Disc Golf Divas fall league – a.k.a Mimosa League
Women's league has moved to Swope Disc Golf Course for the fall and winter. Sundays at 1pm.

For girls and women of all ages and skill levels in the Kansas City area that want to learn and play disc golf in a fun, relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Bring out a friend, sister, daughter and introduce her to disc golf! We have an amazing group of women here in our disc golf community and we are GROWING!   We’d love to have you join us.

The fall version of our league is also known as “Mimosa League”. We were crowned the Mimosa League a few years ago by our disc golf brothers, Kansas City Beer League. Be sure to say hi to them when you’re out at Swope on Sundays. You can’t miss em – just look for the Mule and a LARGE group of the best people you’ll ever meet on the course. They’ve always been some of our best supporters.

It’s fitting to continue this mimosa tradition with the success of our inaugural Kansas City Diva Spring Feeva women’s only tournament this past May. The event volunteers (primarily men) surprised all players with mimosas and roses after they finished the last round.

The KC Disc Golf Diva's would like to express our appreciation to our Diva Feeva volunteers, caddies and local sponsors with a picnic at Swope!
We are so thankful to have such a supporting disc golf community. There is no way that anyone at that event could not feel the love.

We hope many of you can make it out!
Come and go as you like- food and beer available until it's gone :)

The East vs West Challenge is same weekend but just one round on Sunday- if you are playing in that event and were a part of Diva Feeva, head to Swope if you're hungry after!

We are making the final push to have the courses looking great for our out of town guests and next weekend’s Kansas City Wide Open.  Any amount of time you can give will be appreciated whether is an hour or or several hours.  There are little things that you can do like tee signs, putting up new flags or paint OB lines, help spread mulch.  How about doing some weed whacking or clearing a pile of debris?

It’s all happening this weekend: Saturday June 8 at Rosedale or Water Works and Sunday June 9 at Swope.

The KCFDC will bring lunch and beer for all volunteers!

Saturday June 8  @ Water Works

Weed and mulch peace sign on #4
    Clean out trenches on #5
    Clean up fairway #9
    Remove downed limbs
    Rake out drainage beds
    Replace flags
    Paint O.B. lines
    Stain marquee and map

Please bring gloves, rakes,  shovels, hoes, chainsaw if you have them.
Larry Childers from the Briar Cliff Community Alliance will also be in attendance at Waterworks.  There are quite a few improvements being spoken of for Waterworks.  Please introduce yourself and let Larry know how much you enjoy the park if you have a chance!

Saturday June 8  @ Rosedale

It’s a Weed Wacking Party at Rosedale!

Please bring Weed Wackers, gas and string. We’ll be starting at 8:30 am.  A few people will also be spreading dust in front of a few tee pads and we will have the shovels and buckets for that task. Out of Bounds Lines will be marked that day also.

Click here for the full Weed Wacking Party Plan

Contact: Mike Petrin or Pete Cashen.

Saturday June 8 @ Blue Valley

Contact: Jack Lowe

Sunday June 9  @ Swope

Course is looking good but still lots of mulching to do and painting OB lines. Bring gloves, rakes, shovels and trucks to haul mulch if you have them. Be first to check out Swope Gold!

You can still experience the excitement of KCWO without playing!
Volunteers are an important of any event, help us run a smooth event and represent our city! It's a great way to be a part of the most exciting disc golf action in KC all year.
(The volunteer party after the event is pretty awesome too)

Sponsorship Opportunities:

We are seeking sponsorship support from both the Kansas City area and the disc golf business communities. It’s our goal to make each player’s trip to Kansas City as memorable as possible and to present the Wide Open as professionally as possible. While we’re seeking cash sponsorship, there are a number of products or services that we’d be pleased to receive in lieu of cash. Sponsorship money will be used to defray our infrastructure and advertising expenses, to augment the professional prize purse, and to enhance the players visit to the Kansas City metropolitan area. The sponsorship levels, which start from $30, are listed within our brochure which you can download and view here: http://kcwideopen.com/_media/2013_wide_open_sponsorship_form.pdf

While we are primarily seeking sponsorship for this years event, we are interested in finding partners who might be interested in staying with us through 2013 and beyond. If none of these options fit your needs, we’re happy and willing to work with you to find a mutually beneficial level of sponsorship.

Disc Golf Topics for Women / Girls Night Out - Mondays at Rosedale!
« on: March 29, 2013, 12:59:38 pm »
Girls Night Out’ is a night for local women who love disc golf to get together to play and encourage one another and just have fun.
5:30 for the first few weeks- then we will move to a 6:00 start time.

It’s free to play, scoring is optional and you can play as few or as many holes as you want, whether it’s 5 holes, 12, or 18. There are women at all levels of play from beginner to advanced. It’s all about getting out and having fun with other ladies that enjoy disc golf. Prizes given out every week. Discs are available as loaners if you don't have your own.

Last year we also included several instructional clinics with some of the top Women’s Pro players such as Catrina Ulibarri and Paige Pierce.
This year we've got more planned... 2012 Womens' World Champion, Sarah Hokum will be here in June!

Guys, help us support Women’s Disc Golf by telling your girlfriends, wives, sisters, daughters to come out and play with some cool chicks Monday nights at Rosedale!

The Recreational/New Players League is also at Rosedale on Monday nights.

Dynamic Discs will be holding free disc golf clinics at 5 PM EVERY Monday before both leagues begin.

For the first league of the season, Monday April 1 , Laron "Whoman" Harris will be there and really go in depth on the strategies of disc golf and how to approach everything from your discs to the shots you're about to throw.

For those new players that haven't heard of Laron Whoman Harris he is a Professional Disc Golfer that played at the highest level around the Midwest and won many PDGA events. He is also a great teacher of the game and Eric McCabe credits Laron as being his Mentor growing up in the sport.

Also Innova Pro Ken "Tank" Franks will be doing a few clinics also later in the month and I will let you know when that will happen. Ken is another great teacher and his "On Tour" experience is priceless.
